This is the worst company for an apartment complex I have ever dealt with. If you can live in this complex and avoid any and all interactions with the ladies who work there, then you are golden. Otherwise, you’re in for a ride through hell. Let’s give a few examples to back this up: –early into living there I got an eviction notice because I had a dog and cat. Except that I was grandfathered into the old lease that allowed pets, which I had gone over with them multiple times. –a couple weeks after that I got a late fee for rent, which I’d actually delivered early. I go to the office to complain just as one of the girls finds a huge stack of «late» checks that they’d actually misplaced. How does that even happen? –we get a letter that maintenance needs to come in to change out our fans so we called the office to remind them we have a dog and need them to keep him closed in the bedroom when maintenance left. We also left a note on our door. Well, they still left the bedroom door open so the dog tore the place apart. Their response when we tell them the issue? We shouldn’t have a dog if we don’t want him ruining our stuff. No apologies, nothing. –after that they leave a notice on our door that we must sign up for insurance so they automatically enrolled us. We told them we already had renters insurance yet they still enrolled us. And charged us. –most recently we put in a complaint about the barking dog that lives behind us who sounds like he’s being neglected. Their response? «Don’t you have a dog? You should understand then.» And they didn’t do anything about that poor dog behind us. They are extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. They do not take responsibility, they do not apologize, they will tell you to your face that you’re in the wrong when you have clear evidence that they are in the wrong. I have emails between the main woman who works there and myself proving just how rude she is and how she will back up her staff before apologizing about her rude behavior any day so if you need any more evidence of that, I’ve got plenty.

Redwood Cove Apartments is the most well managed apartment complex I have lived in. Ellen has been managing the apartments for about a year now and she is doing a fantastic job, going well beyond the normal. She takes pride in maintaining a clean, friendly complex, cracks down on noisy partiers, delivers Krispy-Kreme doughnuts, and does everything in her power to make sure you get your deposit back. Friends have told me that there is no such thing as a nice landlord. Well, Ellen is the exception. If you rent here, please go out of your way to be nice to her in return so that Redwood Cove can continue being a shining example of an excellently ran apartment complex.

Update to the Disaster this place is. Moving out, we saw hide nor hair of the management aside from a door posting where we waived our final move-out inspection. Three weeks later, we received a letter from Sheraton, a local management company, that they had taken over the complex the day before we moved out and that we owed them nearly $ 4,000. This was above and beyond our deposit. Not taking into account the audaciousness of their claims, it became clear that the previous management company kept very poor records. We disputed the move-out charges on the grounds that the paint wasn’t new, nor was the carpet.(They were trying to charge us 100% of the carpet and painting fees, which should be pro-rated in accordance with CA rental law) When we threatened to take them to court over it, We got a letter that they couldn’t prove the age of the carpet or paint, and that letter included a check for ¾ of our deposit, as there were a couple of legitimate replacement needs. All together, this apartment was the worst experience of my living in Chico. We thought it would be great, and that maybe the previous reviewers were full of BS. They aren’t, this place is bad. Save yourself the heartache and go with something else. The only positive here is when we threatened to take Sheraton to court, they responded and did the research. I still think it’s Shady that they didn’t ever tell us that Sheraton was taking over our complex, and I think what they did skirted the law.(I’m not a lawyer, but there are parts of CA renter Law that say you have to notify tenants of intended changes of management and tell them about deposit transfer)
