All of their potatoes are amazing. They have great baristas who know what they’re doing. Wish the to go items had more food but good servings when you eat in. Gluten free pancakes are on point.

Kind of inconvenient they don’t accept anything except cash. However pretty decent food(nothing comparable to café coda) but worth a try.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. The food is mediocre and the staff is awful! I have never been treated so rudely by an employee or owner in my life. After waiting 30 minutes to be seated and watching everyone who walked in get seated before us, we decided to leave. As we walked out, the owner Danielle, yelled out in front of everyone«have fun at Denny’s.» I was shocked and appalled that anyone would be that blatantly disrespectful. Needless to say, I will not be going here again.

The staff at this restaurant is so rude. After 30 minutes of waiting for a seat, we saw several groups getting seated before us. When I asked when we will be seated, the owner, Danielle Lus, Rudely told us that we were next, and snapped her fingers in my face. We still weren’t being seated, so we decided to leave. On our way out, she told us «to have a nice time at Denny’s.» I just don’t see how the owner of a restaurant can act like that to her customers. I will never eat here and I do not recommend it to anyone.

This place is great. I came here for breakfast and I’ll definitely be back soon. I got the avocado scramble which was good, but my favorite part was actually the potatoes and rosemary bread that came on the side– so good! I also got a non-fat café latte and it was delicious(and huge). This place also seems to have some awesome employees… Everyone I came into contact with was so friendly and my waitress did her job so well, all the while being pleasant and sweet.

Interesting and worth another try First off, cool name, extra point for being original. I’m still trying to figure out what the name means 2nd, nice flare with the traditional American and Mexican fusion(Pancakes and tamales on the same menu) Next– bonus for having gluten free stuff– that’s why we even found on you on the map. Bummer that the GF pancakes were under cooked and mushy-grossness in the middle I ordered the cornmeal pancakes thinking that they would be snazzy-eh, pretty damn dry and very much lacking the sweetness I was expecting. The coffee was good, keep that up. Atmosphere was good– cool space with fun paints. Next time I’ll try the mexi side of the menu and hope that it’s more exciting– Keep ya head up Cortez, round 2 is coming

Food was fresh and delicious. I had the jalapeño scramble and my husband had the breakfast burritos. I would order the breakfast burritos next time because they are small and easily hand held. My scramble was great, just a bit messy to operate before coffee and after a long night of traveling. The only hot item on the plate was the actual scrambled eggs. The other items included a homemade salsa, avocado, cream cheese, lots of cilantro, and black beans. Ooh, it also came with a flour tortilla rolled up on the side. The only complaint I could have is that both of our black beans were cold. I don’t think this was intentional, but there is a possibility I’m mistaken. I prefer mine to be warm. The coffee was excellent. I can’t wait to come back and try the specialty drinks.

I really enjoyed my brunch here a week or so ago. They have all sorts of menu options to fit most diets, and the service is very calm and friendly. Food was delicious, I went with the eggs, potatoes, and rosemary toast… it was really nice, and gave me an incentive to come back and try all the other tasty things they have on the menu.

Some of the best coffee in town. Fantastic, tasty and reasonably healthy menu, though it could use an update. Cash only!

I want to like this place… but Sin of Cortez just isn’t one of my favorite places to go. The food is alright, but there isn’t anything that keeps me coming back. I do appreciate the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff and the restaurant is clean. However, I haven’t found anything I’ve eaten there to rave about. I occasionally will stop in with friends, but it never is my first – or second – pick for breakfast.

Decent food that isn’t worth the hassle. This restaurant doesn’t accept credit OR debit cards(it’s 2015. come on, really?), and charges extra for sour cream, salsa, etc. Prepare yourself for some extreme nickle and dime action as the restaurant attempts to squeeze every bit of money out of your check as possible. Paid $ 26 for a breakfast for just one person(a coffee and one entrée, and a few salsas)… not worth the price at all. There are many other places in Chico that you can get better food for far cheaper and not have to worry about carrying cash. There’s no way I’m coming back until they accept cards and stop charging for what should be complimentary items.

My breakfast was anything but sinful, but that’s because I went with the healthy option: the zen breakfast. It comes with sautéed spinach, scrambled egg whites, tofu, and brown rice. A peanut sauce comes with it, but I didn’t like it. It didn’t vary that much from regular peanut butter and it was too thick. The breakfast was really good and filling. The best part is that it’s healthy! I also bought the bowl of soul, which had chocolate shavings on top. I don’t think the bag of chamomile tea was long enough in the water because it lacked flavor depth. The flavor started to kick in toward the end, but by then it was kind of cold. I liked the atmosphere because it’s pretty laid back. I went on a weekday, but it probably gets crazy on the weekends. It can get too close for comfort with the other guests though. I felt like I was eating with the family to my left, and the couple to my right because of how close the tables are to each other. The family was interesting because one of the girls ordered a salad and a bowl of fruit instead of pancakes because she had already had pancakes earlier in the week. The boy was tasting coffee for the first time. As for the couple, they were discussing work life and the stress from it. Super interesting stuff, but a bit of breathing room could have been great.

I lived in Chico for 10 years and this was my all time favorite go to place for brunch. When they first opened they served the Bohemian breakfast with either a multivitamin or cigg. But those days have come and gone, but the food is still delicious as ever. Whenever I visit Chico this is a MUST for hungover brunch with my friends and everything on the menu is delicious. They also have a great coffee bar selection and different flavors of mimosas to choose from! The food is fresh and really flavorful! My ultimate favorite is Eggs LuLu, which is scrambled eggs with tomato and scallion in a croissant with cream cheese, served with a side of fruit. One word: BOMB. But everything is good, they have delicious rosemary potatoes and their mexican choices are also to die for. I’m not a pancake person but I have heard that these are the best in Chico. Oh and if you’re not feeling breakfast food you can order off the lunch menu(only on the weekdays). The Double Happiness is really really really really good. I wish I had some right meow. If you haven’t already, check out Sin! You will not be disappointed!

A cool place to go out with friends(especially to those who are vegetarian/vegan) for some good food and a casual place to meet and chat. So why do i give it 3 stars? I’ll tell you. I came by to this place last weekend to get some brunch with some friends that were in town for the weekend. My friend called in earlier to try to make a reservation but unfortunately they don’t. We all walked in(we were a group of 8) and the host said it will be a 20 minute wait, to which we didn’t mind waiting for that long. We sat down and I began to observe the place. One thing that I noticed was that the host was saying it would be a 20 minute wait to EVERYSINGLE incoming parties, which immediately told me this was gonna be more than a 20 minute wait. One hour passes and we finally got our seats and immediately began to order because most of us were hungry. This restaurant is a vegetarian/vegan style breakfast/lunch place as they had items that substituted meat and it was organic and gluten free. I ordered the soy chorizo, which was really good, and the waitress was kind enough to add in substitutions to my dish(i wanted some potatoes in my dish) as well as my friends’ dishes. I also ordered a glass of mimosas which was served on a narrow tall-ish glass. The food was served at a decent time and the quality of the food and drink was actually pretty good. The downsides to this place: CASHONLY. Living in the year 2015, it’s rare for a restaurant to not have a card option and most people these days just dont carry cash anymore. They do have an atm but who wants to spend $ 2.50 to use it? That money can be used for power hour at Riley’s or buck night at Crazy Horse. Overall, I would not want to return to this place. The type of food was not really for me and the fact that they gave us an unreliable time wait, cash only, and $ 6.00 mimosas, I would rather pick a different place to eat.

I came here starving after a 7 mi run, so this may slightly bias my review of the food. The menu is vegetarian-friendly — my vegetarian friends(e$ &MB) and I all got tasty items. I got the artichoke scramble which was very appetizing, but the rosemary toast was a bit dry without the accompanying blueberry purée. This place also serves very sizable portions; in fact, if you’re not famished, you’d have leftovers.(Since I was the most famished one in our brunch crew, I finished off the remaining french toast that H got and the leftover pancakes that MB ordered.) Sin of Cortez also does takeout — I got brunch for two other friends. The –1 star is for our waitress not refilling our water, but to be fair, they were very busy during Sunday brunch. Overall, come here if you’re craving delicious and sizeable portions of brunch food on the weekend, but expect a wait. Pro tips: 1. They don’t take reservations, so expect to wait for ~20 mins for a group of 4 on a Sunday at 11am. 2. They don’t take credit cards but have an ATM machine, where you can withdraw cash with a $ 2 transaction fee. 3. There is bike parking on the railing along the north side of the restaurant. If there is no lot parking, you can easily find street parking on the north side.

So I got the breakfast sandwich and replaced the rosemary bread with French toast. It is amazing! Thank you for being accommodating. The waitresses were super nice and engaging. They thought my idea to replace the bread was awesome. The rosemary potatoes with salsa was awesome! I like my potatoes a bit crunchy. It wasn’t as crunchy as I would like but good nonetheless. I travel a lot but if I’m every in the area I will be back.

Best Chico breakfast spot, hands down(and they have the«best in Chico» awards to prove it) It’s not incredibly cheap, but the food is always fantastic and well worth it. They don’t take credit cards, which is an inconvenience, but they have an atm in case you forget! I go for a bowl of soul and any of their scrambles, but the Vincent Vega is a new favorite of mine. Open 365 days a year, this place is the bomb for holidays when you don’t feel like cooking for your guests!

This is a great place in Chico to grab breakfast … as long as you remember to bring cash! I had the strawberry granola pancakes which were excellent. There is also a great variety of coffee drinks for those of you looking for a dose of caffeine. The atmosphere is nothing fancy, but the service is fairly prompt and friendly. I would recommend if you are in the area and looking for a delicious breakfast!
