Fun place. Came here with friends for graduation night(last night) and it was pretty packed, with a huge line, we went in through this door because it was the connecting bar to the beach, and it had a shorter line. The bar was fairly empty, we walked right up, got a drink, played some pool,(they have 3 pool tables and a few other games like fooseball and air hockey.) after we finished our drinks there, we went to the beach through the connecting door and danced for hours.

Kelly is so friendly. Always makes the best drinks!!! I love coming here always!!! Been living in Chico for a few years now and I have always felt welcome at the three downtown bars. The folks they have working there are really super and treat their guests like guests! Always a favorite spot downtown for me,

Let me start off by saying that I normally love this place. Good crowd, good deals on beer, lots of pool, usually good music… and I’ve met a few bartenders there who were extremely friendly. However, I went there last night(thursday) when a bartender named Kelly was working and I received the worst customer service that I’ve probably ever had. She was extremely rude and my friends and I were all in disbelief on the way she treated me. I ordered a ninkasi tricerahops(which was $ 5.75), she served me promptly, and I left her a dollar tip. However, when I tried the beer, it was clearly not a tricerahops– in fact it tasted like(whatever keg it was) was skunked. My friends all tried it and said the same. So I let the bartender know that it wasn’t the right beer and tasted pretty bad, no big deal, and she asked if I wanted something else so I ordered a pale ale(which costed $ 1.50). I then politely asked her if I could get the difference back since $ 4 is kind of significant… she responded with a stern«NO.» At first I looked at her thinking she was kidding, but then she said«You ordered a tricerahops so that’s what you have to pay for.» I told her that I didn’t even receive a tricerahops… she said«well that’s too bad» and walked off. My friends and I made a few comments to each other about how it wasn’t fair and she must have overheard, so she comes up to me and throws $ 3 on the table and says«here, now get out of my face and don’t sit here.» Shocked, I told her that if it was that big of a deal she can just keep the change… she responded with a similar«get out of my face» comment, so I took the change and left. I don’t usually write negative reviews but I considered this experience to be bad enough to where I won’t be coming back on thursday nights anymore while she’s working… and I think her negative attitude may affect Ubar’s business. Like I said, so many of the other bartenders there are awesome. So, I hope Ubar just checks on their kegs and makes some staff improvements and I think it’ll go back to being one of my favorite bars in Chico.

Just left here, ordered a pitcher of Lagunitas IPA and they tried to charge me 17.50. The white board said 9.75 for a pitcher. I questioned the bartender who said it was his first night. He was annoyed already by being asked questions. He asked the other bartender and she said it was only domestic although it did not clearly state that, and she was also pissed off for no reason. I said I didn’t want it anymore and they proceeded to be condescending. «You don’t just get to not pay for something you ordered.» I stood next to the bar fuming from being treated rudely and the guy spoke to me again saying«you’re beer is here if you actually feel like paying for it.» Instead of admitting there was a mistake on the board and giving us a discount or at least being apologetic they were very rude. I left the bar because I was so frustrated, but my friend who was still inside said the guy gave the pitcher to another customer for free right in front of my friends so they could see it. If I was an owner or a manager of this place I would be very upset with these workers But Whatever. Walked around the corner and bought the same exact beer for $ 12 a pitcher at regular price at another bar. Even got a smile from the bartender. Needless to say I will be avoiding Ubar as much as possible from now on.

I love this place because it’s very unassuming. The beer is cheap and the music is loud. They have pool tables and the clientele is mostly laid back. They have a ton of specialty shots/drinks you can ask for. I typically stick with beer and whiskey or bourbon. The could use some clean up and maintenance on the restrooms. Once they were completely out of soap and once only 1 stall was working.

Definitely one of Chico’s better night spots. Buck night on Wednesdays is a town tradition — much better than the Horse(ew). Staff is friendly and so are the patrons. I always have a great time here.

This bar has it all… and it has the best drink specials on Friday and Saturday night from 8 – 9 P. M Everything in the bar is half off during those times, at one point shots of Jameson were .75 cents and all their pitchers were 3.00 dollars. They have dollar night on Wednesday and they have fun additions such as pool tables, video games, music, air hockey, and Bubble hockey. This bar most people forget about, but it has lots of cool stuff going for those who come in. The bartenders are friendly, fast, and understanding. Often I would show up for happy hour and load up the table and never leave. The best thing is that during that time not many people are

Nice bar to come to and just get some drinks. Bartender takes really good care of you and makes sure you are satisfied. I prefer Panama’s but this place is good as well.

Overall, the location is in a basement and the crowd can feel a bit awkward. Mainly because it is where the local hipsters and and anti fraternity /sorority crowd goes… They share a buck night with several of the other local bars… so it can be a great stop along a bar crawl… definitely not my first choice in locations, but it can be a fun place to chill if you are seeking a low key environment. Or simply enjoy air hockey and pool.

okay this bar is sketchy. I went here with my buddy because he’s a regular here. you have to go downstairs and the bar is really dark. Pool tables and games all around. Drinks are cheap, and the guy gave me free drinks since i was so drunk, he said to just tip him, i think he gave me very little alcohol but i was too drunk to notice.

This place is kinda creepy. Its in a basement so there’s no windows. The patrons all seem to be a bit unstable, and/or vampires. There only saving grace from a 1 star review from me is there excellent assortment of beers on tap.

The one bar that I always find myself at. No matter what night of the week it is, U-bar always has a special worth a drink. From buck night on Wednesdays, to $ 3 double Captains every night. With a solid Internet jukebox, the music is always the best for those that don’t want to just sit in a crowded building stuck listening to hyphy music. Radiohead is a frequent, along with many other indie bands. While the crowd is usually pretty different than most bars(Riley’s, La Salle’s, Duffy’s), the people you see are always regulars. Also, the bartenders are awesome, and bouncers are great as well. Plus, three pool tables, a massive air hockey table, a nice selection of video games and a Foosball table, along with four TVs and many sets of dice. U-bar is def a great bar. But us regulars are good without the lame crowd. If you come, be happy. Keep the attitude great, and buy me a drink, I’ll take whatever.

I have a love-hate relationship with Ubar… mainly because my bar type is usually a bit more upbeat than your general quietish ubar night. My love for ubar def outweighs my hate for a few key reasons. NUMBER1: BUCKNITE… by far the only night Ubar is really bumpin… $ 1 wells and select beers, including pale ales, you cant get much better than that! And it is quite popular even beyond the normal ubar crowd. I feel like I know everyone at buck nite, its like a big party that I don’t have to clean up the next morning. 2) Crystal Wheat on tap! 3)It’s block and a diagonal trek across a parking lot from my house. 4)It’s good to start or end at… really cheap drinks!

I don’t feel the need to describe U Bar. Those who know it, know what it’s about; those that don’t know… we don’t really mind their absence. It’s a safe distance away from Riley’s and LaSalles(no offense… sort of). That is not to say that the U Bar has a certain«crowd.» You’ll find people from all walks of life here. The discerning fact is that everyone here seems to have a good attitude, and that enjoyment spreads quickly. They also have some of the best jukebox offerings in town, though every once in a while you’ll get stuck with the obligatory lame-o who lines up $ 5 worth of bullshit for the length of your pool game. I can get over the fact that they got rid of my favorite pinball machine as long as they continue to pour me a good Snake Bite. See you next time I’m in town, as always.

This is Chico’s best bar: 1. It’s underground. Time zips by without windows. 2. It smells faintly like bleach. Helps keep the dude bros and their stupid girlfriend OUT and drowns out the smell of the occasional bum. 3. BUCKNIGHT– drink cheap on Wednesdays! 4. Perpetual $ 3 Cap n Coke special 5. You always run into people you know and actually want to talk to.

Buck night and air hockey. It’s on. Not just a bunch of douche bros or douche hipsters, but rather a diverse cross-section of douches from every douche walk of life. Ignore them, get a pint, and challenge me to air hockey.

You can’t beat the drink prices in Chico, in general, but this place always has something fantastic on special and on tap. This is a great place for picky beer drinkers. There is a whole wall of taps. But, I find myself ordering the same pitcher of Sierra Nevada(made in Chico) Crystal Wheat, every time. You will never be surprised by this place. It’s always the same crowd, never enough tables, the bathroom is atrocious, but there is something comforting about consistency. Every time I make it out to Chico, this place is on my list!

U-Bar is a nice bar, with a great atmosphere and a very solid beer selection with excellent specials. The problem with U-Bar is that its normally pretty empty, and the regulars are notably older and less fun than at other establishments a block away. I dont know why that is, either. Maybe its because of its strange location, or the lack of any ‘hook’ type of night(buck night, power hour, 80s night, whatever), but in general, U Bar is frequented by people who dont really seem to like going out that much, or are more aniti social. And thats great, but its not as much fun. And, ill say it, U-Bar is definitely the nerdiest bar in town, probably because of all the video games and, as noted, anti social vibe. Im a self described huge nerd, so as you can guess, i spent alot of time at U-Bar.
