Carl’s Town House

5 stars for what it is… a little diner in a little town worth the Stop. My husband and I both had cheeseburgers, both doubles as recommended in an earlier post… quite tasty, but singles would have been fine for me as two slider style doubles were a lot of food… I had no room for pie :(

My son’s girlfriend found this restaurant while we were traveling as she knows I am a big fan of the show; Diners, Drive-​Ins and Dives from Food Network. While Guy Fieri hasn’t been here, I have and I can tell you it is a great place to eat. I thoroughly enjoyed my two egg breakfast with bacon and was pleasantly surprised when the waitress offered to jazz up my home fries with bell peppers and onions. The two paintings on the wall done by Lisa Van Vliet Coppel add real charm to the restaurant.
Also, for you wheelchair users, the place is totally accessible down to it’s accessible bathroom.

Great food at great prices. The sliders came out hot and fresh. The toppings were great and they didn’t skimp on them. The sliders have a lot of different topping combinations as well. The onion rings were hot and crispy, in other words perfect. I definitely will go again and highly recommend others check out this local business.

Food is great and so are the prices. Service could be a little better and the restaurant could be cleaner, but overall a good experience.

The food is great, the atmosphere is cool, the coffee sucks, terrible coffee. Please change to something else. Benchmark good coffee. Don’t miss this place unless you want a good cup of coffee.

I love Carl’s! It is one of those places that immediately recommend to visitors. It is a classic diner with lots of history behind it. Always clean and pleasant. The cheeseburger basket is the way to go! They have fresh veggies and good hot fries. We always top it off with a rootbeer float! They also have fantastic pie! The atmosphere is fantastic and the ladies working there are always super polite!

Found Carl’s on Unilocal while looking for a local place to try while in town on business. Stopped in for a quick bite just after the lunch rush.
Sat at the counter and no one even acknowledged me even after a couple of minutes (and I was seated very close to the register). Eventually two or three people asked if I had been helped. Just seemed weird that someone wasn’t assigned to the counter (or if they were not paying attention).
The woman who took my order was obviously having a bad day. Very terse… I don’t need my ego stroked at a diner of all places but the vibe was tense and a smile would have helped. The guy busing tables was bitching to a patron (clearly knew him) about his ex-​wife. The joy of sitting at the counter I guess!
Overall the food was good… had the sliders with the onion rings (which were exceptionally tasty).
But the vibe to me was a locals joint thru and thru, almost to the point that I felt like I didn’t belong. Even cashing out the check was painful… I was clearly done eating and sat there for a while waiting for the total. Never got it and just went to the register and told her what I had.
Just a weird diner experience and not the sociable time I was expecting based on reviews.

Found on Unilocal on a cross country drive — we don’t eat at fast food chains. Carl’s even had a covered patio so our dog could join us. Service was prompt &server
was very sweet. Food was as expected — burgers were like what we grew up with. Pie was homemade. Carl’s was spotlessly clean.

Excellent burger and fry joint. This is a must visit place when we travel back to Chillicothe. Great place for the kids to eat at the ‘Spinny Stools’ spot. My wife swears by the Vegetable Soup.

Delicious little sliders! Nice local diner with great food. The building has quite a history and seems like a local institution. The staff seemed great… everyone was really friendly and we chatted quite a bit with the other diners as well.

Nice little local joint. Have been here a few times, twice for breakfast and once around dinner. Tasty diner style food. Love the little burger baskets. Tastes fresh and carefully cooked.

Great diner type food. I get the corn nuggets instead of fries and the pepper jack cheese on my burgers.

This restaurant is good at what it does, which is FRY EVERYTHING. Don’t come if you are looking for a salad or sandwich. If you are in the mood for fried bologna, cheeseburgers, fried corn nuggets, fried macaroni and cheese, fried mushrooms and cornbread, this is your place. It’s very much a diner so don’t expect a comfortable table or booth.

Carl’s Town House is one of those must have places whenever I visit Chillicothe.
They have great burgers, grilled cheese, friend macaroni, and chips. They also use a pepper jack cheese that is out of this world! The prices are awesome too.
My only reason for not giving it five stars is sometimes the wait staff can be a little surly… and not in a cute way.

If you’re in the area, take the time to try Carl’s… A great menu of made fresh comfort foods and brilliant pies… Carl’s has a history in this town and there’s a reason the restaurant’s been around as long as is has… you’ll be happy you stopped in and you’ll definitely be back…
