Started volunteering here a couple months ago. The orientation is well done! All your questions will be answered. You may need to take initiative to connect with the staff to start volunteering, as you many not be followed up with very quickly without doing so. Your time spent here will be graciously received and will have impact on the horses. Everyone I have encountered has been friendly, genuine and appreciative. The horses are priority one! Everything is done with their best interest in mind, and not what is necessarily easier or more efficient, which is wonderful. People are needed for social media, office tasks, cleaning, sweeping, stall care, feeding and more. My biggest reward is getting horsey smooches each time I volunteer and knowing I helped keep a horse from the kill pen. Come join us!

I bought a large(20+ acre) ranch for horse retirement and contacted Red Bucket about adopting a donkey. They had several donkeys available for adoption listed on their site. Their application is quite lengthy, which was fine, but it had several spelling and grammar errors that made it seem unprofessional. I was told that they would get back to me after my application was reviewed. I kept checking back with them every couple of months, and each time was told my application was being reviewed. After 8 months, I ended up getting a donkey on my own, but kept my application with Red Bucket out of curiosity. After 18 months had passed, I called again to check the status and was told the same thing — «being reviewed.» Why a «rescue» would take more than a year and a half to review an adoption application is ridiculous. It left me wondering if RB is truly legitimate or just an operation looking to make money from donations and sad stories(which happens). They certainly don’t appear to be looking for forever homes for these animals, in my experience. For an adoption or to give a donation, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Most of the people there are very kind and considerate. The horses could not be in better hands. Some of the people in charge are rude, inconsiderate, and hypocritical. A great place to learn about horses. They won’t let you near their veterinarian if you are a pre-vet student(which i am).

My boyfriend and I sometimes stroll down by this place. I don’t know much about horses but except I do know they are beautiful. I took some pictures just for fun. This place looks like a well maintained area and the horses are well cared for.

Amazing and inspiring place full of hard and giving workers with huge hearts. Just being there made me want to do something good for the world. I wish I lived a bit closer!
