Didn’t care too much for this place. It felt more like a diner that bought a bunch of different bottles of wine and called themselves a winery. Haha Will definitely not be coming back to this place

Stopped as our first winery in Paso. Didn’t expect much, tiny little place. What great wine! The guy serving, I am soooo sorry, I just can’t remember his name, was very sweet. He educated us on the varietals, and we tried red and white versions. Really informative, but not in a boring, nonstop talking way. He just shared some points, and it made us really enjoy the stop. Bought the red cuvée, and moscato! Yum!

Really enjoyed our tasting here today, our first stop on our way into wine country. Our host was very welcoming, enjoyed the varied wine list. Petite Sirah was a fav this time. Very much like the fact that this can be a first and/or last stop on coast or Paso getaway.

What a surprisingly cute, randomly placed little tasting room! My friend and I were on our way to Hearst Castle when we decided to make a little stop at this unassumingly, cute little wine tasting room that caught our attention. This little, but impressively designed wine tasting room, is a recent new renovation to what is attached to a very old, very dated, little diner — that come to find out, is just feet away from where James Dean encountered that tragic accident that took his life so many years ago. I have to say, I really admired the nostalgic, untouched by the hands of time ambiance and found it somewhat oddly comforting for some reason. But anyhow, now the tasting room-certainly like as if walking out of a time zone form the dated diner into a classic, rustic, but modernized ambiance — very well designed. The tasting offers a variety of reds and whites to try for $ 10.00, with the fee being waived if purchasing a bottle. They also sell a variety of different flavored olive oils and other little gifts. I of course indulged in this tasting but my friend opted out. I now can’t recall the guys name who assisted us on this tasting, but he was fantastic! Absolutely knowledgeable and helpful. Most of the wines were pretty impressive. Overall, really enjoyed my random visit, and can’t wait to stop in again.

Smart, very smart. Hearst Winery opened up an operation at the Jack Ranch. Jack Ranch got a make-over and you can taste the delicious Hearst Ranch wines without having to go all the way to Hearst Castle — good deal. Malbec is the tops on their list. Other wineries in the area know about Hearst Malbec and Tempranillo. Tempranillo was really well done. The three sister’s red blend was priced right for an everyday red and was worth the $ 20. Jack Ranch was a stop for us because of the Café and the James Dean Memorial. Now it is a MUST stop for us.

The coolest thing about both locations is you can get fantastic badass diner foods. The best thing of all is the wines are sophisticated enough to pair with the fin diner food and you feel you did the best ever foodie hack. Dale took care of me at both locations and what a love. Super wine knowledgeable, but so down to earth, you’ll laugh yourself into wine heaven.

A new stop as you enter Paso Robles wine country as Hearst Ranch Winery has opened a second tasting room next to the adjoining Jack Ranch Café. A great way to get your wine on if you can’t wait to start your tasting at Tobin James. We’ve become regulars at the original Hearst Ranch Winery tasting room in San Simeon, so it’s nice to have a second location in case we don’t get quite that far up the coast. Gotta love their reds such as the Randolph blend, the Syrah and a tasty Malbec. Glad to see that Hearst is growing.
