Must have been off nights the several times I stopped in. Maybe take-out here is just not an option here — because my experiences were less than stellar. I would have given negative points if it was possible. I honestly don’t know how they have survived this long. Everything was absolutely inedible — except the potato salad. That’s what the one star was for… Really spendy for what you get.

A Little of KCBBQ in Beautiful Chowchilla, ca Last week while working on my ranch outside of Chowchilla I was graving BBQ, so of course I went onto Unilocal like I always do while on the road a computer consultant to such places as London, NYC, Shanghai and of course Kansas City, where I try to get my taste of BBQ while in town. I was fortunate enough to have found a hidden gem right here in Chowchilla at Fatt Daddyz BBQ. From the time I entered the very quaint and warm café I felt a sense of being in a similar KCBBQ place. The owner greeted me with a huge smile, the bus boy, whom probably was a family member greeted us equally warm. The menu selection is comprised of your typical items found in a KCBBQ place — BBQ chicken, ribs, and a assortment of other mouth watering BBQ choices. I ordered the 2 piece chicken lunch plate — it came with 2 sides. I ordered the mac and cheese, which was a delight in itself, and the beans, which where simmered to perfection, not overly simmered to a point of tastelessness nor not under simmered where the beans where too crunchy. The chicken fell off its bones as I began to cut it up into bite sized pieces. The BBQ sauce was definitely homemade, a taste you would expect to experience in a authentic KCBBQ place. Sure, the café’s deco is a bit simple, yet as previously mentioned, the folks who run it and the food is quite warm in quality and that’s what a good place is all about. Fat Daddyz BBQ is about substance, not show as I have had the unfortunate experience in the past at other BBQ places in other towns. I ordered the peach cobbler on a whim. The peaches tasted as if they were just picked at a nearby peach orchard, the added cobbler crust was thinly made, just as it should be. This peach cobbler had me remembering when I ate a peach cobbler down in Atlanta. When my lunch was over I thanked the owner for having such a hidden gem in little quaint Chowchilla and wished them well. Will I return? You know it — as soon as I’m back in town from another week on the road. I would definitely recommend Fatt Daddyz BBQ, you’ll leave wondering why you haven’t stopped in previously. It’s a little hard to find since its located just off Chowchilla’s main road, called Robertson Rd, on 4th street. See you at Fat Daddyz BBQ soon.

Food was the best part. Seating is picnic tables and you walk up to the counter to order. Accordingly, I didn’t tip. Maybe I should have because she brought out our food in a styrofoam container(for 2 of us). She wasn’t friendly and hardly greeted us. I think they were happy when we left.

Worst BBQ ever. Completely inedible. When I read the reviews that were posted that raved about this place I was really suspicious. And sure enough, Unilocal chose to «filter» the negative reviews. Don’t be taken in by the four+ star rating. Save your money and your stomach, and go to Putters instead if your craving ribs. This place doesn’t even deserve one star.

I don’t think there’s anything here I can’t suggest. I had the Granny(quarter chicken, hot link, and two sides(I had potato salad and macaroni and cheese)) and it was delicious. This place has only been open a few weeks, and definitely deserves a try. The place is limited on seating, and parking is out on the street for the most part. The locals park across the street in the empty lot, so that’s a suggestion as well.

Fatt Daddyz BBQ has really good food, the place is really small and old. There’s not really a lot of parking space. I got the ribs and tri-tip. They both were delicious. I would definitely come here again.

Fat Daddy’s is a small place in an old building in Chowchilla. The place doesn’t look like much, but don’t let it put you off. The food is really good! I had Ribs and Tri-Tip with Chili and Pasta Salad. The meat had a good smoke flavor and was tender. The Chili was very good. There is no other BBQ restaurant anywhere near hear, so I hope everyone supports this place. I will definitely go back.
