Worst service ever! The staff act like it’s a burden for you to eat there then they bring ur food n stare at you the whole time ur eating Makeing you so uncomfortable you just wanna leave, then they never check on you til it’s time to pay. This is not only bad service but some of the worst food in town!

I’ve eaten here on occasion when I come to Chowchilla for a visit. I grow up in the town and still have family here. I remember when Pedro’s Place opened circa 1976. I was in high school at the time and Chowchilla didn’t have even half the population it does now, and certainly not the Hispanic population(there were only two kids of Mexican descent in my graduating class back in the late 70s). The food is just as I rated«average”– I’ve definitely had better Mexican fare however, I do think their salsa is very good. The service, however, is mediocre at best, slow on all levels, and I think that the eatery feels it can take its customers for granted and can afford to be lax because Pedro’s Place is well established in town. I’m pretty sure it was the first Mexican restaurant to open in Chowchilla and nearly 40 years later it doesn’t appear to be hurting for business(I will digress for a moment and mention that there was a location in Madera that burned down almost a decade ago and was never rebuilt or reopened at another location. The Madera restaurant had great service!). One server in particular will flit from table to table catching up on the gossip with the customers they know and attention to the other tables go out the door. This happens every time I’ve dined at the restaurant. It also appears to pain this server to take a food order or refill your drink. I’ve even come in, sat at a table, and five minutes later another party comes in and the server will rush over to wait on them first. This has happened to me more than once or twice. I’ve even had to wait at the counter for a ridiculous amount of time to pay my bill because the help, although they see you waiting at the counter to settle up, can’t be bothered because they are too busy with the table gossip. Advice to Pedro’s management: Step up your customer service game! Don’t take your customers for granted, treat them all the same. And another thing… keep that nasty mop and mop bucket filled with dirty mop water out of the bathroom.

Horrible service, the staff acted annoyed that we were eating at this establishment. I still gave a decent tip, but I will not return. I’ve never left a review before but felt the need after the poor service we received.

Food is ok. I really only go there for Mario. Mario keeps me laughing the whole time. Probably wouldn’t go here if he wasn’t there.

Went tonight and stood upfront waiting to be seated for quite some time. We were seated and ten waited for about 10 minutes before someone came by and brought us chips, salsa and water. I told the lady we were ready to order and she walked away. Finally another waitress came and she was rude. Scowl and all. Had to ask for refills throughout the meal and about halfway through the meal she brought the bill. I new once the bill was dropped off we could count on her returning. I was right. We didn’t see her again until we paid. Food was bland and really needed some salt. My tamale looked like it was store bought and heated up. My daughters taquitos were Costco taquitos heated in a microwave. The delimex brand. I know we by them also for home. Some of her rice was hard.

Not the best Mexican food. It can be pretty bland and straight forward– don’t be expecting anything special here. But, it has been a staple of Chowchilla for as long as I remember… The food itself could be better, but the service has always been good & friendly– often they have no problem making substitutions or special requests. There is a nostalgia factor that comes with the establishment as I can remember coming here with family for as long as I remember. When it comes to Mexican food, I have had much better. And, I have definitely had much worse! Pedro’s stands the middle ground and I can say that if I am to go out and eat in this town, this one does pass the test in comparison to other restaurant offerings in the area.

Great food, consistently mediocre service. Some days are better than others, but today was especially bad. We didn’t get a drink refill throughout our entire meal, it took forever to have our order taken, and we had to ask for our check twice. I’d recommend going to Conchitas.

I have been coming to this restaurant for the better part of twenty years and I still love it. This is no frills, simple Mexican food, with good flavor and that is what most people have come to admire about Pedro’s. I have tried just about everything on the menu, but I will only highlight a few. I always enjoy the chips and salsa(both made in house) when I go, while the salsa is off putting for some due to it being blended and not chunky, I think it is very tasty. The tamales are very good and have a good ratio of masa and meat. The sauce that covers the tamales and enchiladas is also very good, it is not bitter or have a strong tomato flavor like so many others I have tried. One of my favorite dishes is the Chile Colorado, it always has a great flavor, spice and is very tender. I have also had the tacos and to liken them to Taco Bell is a gross misstatement. Just about everything is made in house and has a fresh taste. The staff is also very friendly and I have never had a bad experience with the service. Overall, this place serves quality Mexican food at a great price.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant forever since is one of the few restaurant close to the plant that I travel to. I would stop going but my boss likes it. The food that they serve is very mild and bland… not the Mexican Food that I expect in California. Even the tacos are to «Taco Bell», I ordered some with corn tortillas and it looked like they fried the tortillas before putting the meat. The service is ok… no good, no bad. Actually the owner sometimes is not in a good mood and sounds«hurry» all the time.

My wife and I have eaten at Pedro’s a bunch of times. Prompt, friendly service and very good food. We’re both vegans and they happily accommodated us. We’ve eaten at the restaurant, and have had takeout, and it has always been a good dining experience.

We LOVE Pedro’s Place. We have been eating there for couple of years and have never had a bad experience. We live in Madera and even though it’s a short drive, Pedro’s is our first choice for great mexican food. This is one of the few places where I always eat everything on my plate. Their tortilla chips are the best compared to other places. Sometimes we go eat there because we are in the mood for their tortilla chips and salsa.

Good Mexican food. Not a lot of restaurant choices in Chowchilla. Pedros is consistent, and better than a lot of other Mexican restaurants in larger cities.
