Bubblecake

Went by for an after dinner dessert. I ordered the strawberry fields cupcake and the lemon berry cupcake and my son ordered the mini cupcake with sprinkles. They looked good but after tasting my opinion changed… I have visited this bubblecake several times and honestly I have not been impressed with it at all. I have visited the bubblecake in Roanoke several times and it has been delicious. Must be the difference in the people making the cupcakes. They are way over priced as well. I wouldn’t have minded the price had they actually if been good. Will not be visiting the bubblecake in Christiansburg again, it has been nothing but disappointment.

Pretty store with cupcakes and candy. The minis are enough for a treat without eating too much. The cake is moist. The lady working was pleasant and described the flavors to us. It can get pricey quickly so share a large cupcake or get one of the smaller ones. We love it for an occasional treat.

Bubblecake recently did cupcakes for my wedding. They were delicious, fresh, and looked great! Everyone was raving about how fabulous they were. The cost was awesome, especially in comparison to a wedding cake. My only complaint would be that when i first put the order in, the lady on the phone said they would deliver, then closer to the wedding, they said they werent able to.

This is a very cute shop. There was lots of candies available but we just got cupcakes. Probably a good thing — we would have been broke if we had bought more than we did. $ 20…for 6 cupcakes?! And this was a buy 5 get one free special. So, that means each cupcake was 4 dollars? Seems a little pricey.
The cupcakes were definitely good. My husband had the red velvet cupcake… and said «this is good, but not $ 4 good.» My key lime cupcake was a little disappointing. The actual cupcake was a cinnamon or spice and the icing was key lime. There was a lot of whipped cream on top which I found a little overwhelming.
Basically if bubblecake is going to be priced like Georgetown cupcake, they need to be able to deliver on quality and taste!

The storefront is pleasant; colorful, well-​lit, appropriately kitschy. The cupcakes are presented beautifully and there are three sizes available; mini, a more homemade-​looking size (that is, ~the size you’d likely make yourself…), and giant cupcake-​store size. I am not a huge fan of buttercream frosting so I made sure to ask which, if any, flavors had cream-​cheese frosting and was told that three or so flavors did. I ordered the red velvet cupcake and was disappointed to find that it was not, in fact, cream cheese frosting. The employee doubted my claim but after tasting the frosting on one of the mini-​cupcakes of the same flavor, she agreed, and was kind enough to give me a replacement cupcake. The second cupcake was a cinnamon-​roll flavor that was also supposed to have cream cheese frosting… alas, it did not. I decided not to press the issue. Disappointing. Particularly troubling because had I been concerned about an allergen in the ingredients, such an oversight on Bubblecake’s part could have been dangerous…
The cake quality was reasonable; the cakes were moist, decently flavorful, and mostly true to their flavor (the red velvet was cocoa-​ey, the cinnamon roll had a nice dose of cinnamon-​sugar, etc.). I may or may not return… I wonder if it might be possible to confirm whether or not they actually make cream-​cheese frosted-​cupcakes. I’d likely choose Gobble Cakes more readily, simply due to the fact that I know that the flavor I order is consistent with its description…

The cupcakes were beautifully presented and patiently described by a knowledgeable, helpful employee. I was most impressed by the cake, which was moist, tasty, and had a good crumb, not too light and not too dense. The frosting was fine; I took off a star because it could have had more zing, and there was too much whipped cream – in my opinion – on top.
The interior was tastefully decorated. I felt like I was in a big city location rather than a strip mall just around the corner from all the big box stores in Christiansburg. I was intrigued by the selection of local chocolates on the counter.

Went for the first time today. It’s a very pretty place. The cupcakes are amazing! I know you like me are probably thinking, what could be so great about a cupcake. Well, let me tell you they are so full of flavor. One cupcake is so rich you might want to share it.
Take your kids, go for a date, treat yourself! Go to bubblecake!

I visited on their grand opening, where they ran out of cupcakes about an hour before closing. The owner was super friendly, giving me a free cupcake voucher for another time.
I came back another day with my daughter. She really enjoyed the selection of cupcakes they had. I had a caramel apple cupcake and my daughter enjoyed a chocolate razz that had raspberries in the icing, Both were great!
