A clusterfuck of bad service and ineptitude. So I ordered two gorditas one flour quesadilla and a drink. Not too expensive i thought. Only 11.25 The place was crowded but my order got taken quickly, after this their system just broke down. They had no straws by the fountain drinks. I asked a girl making raspados and she said that they were next to the soda machine. The place I had already looked. I Told her their thing was empty and she said she would put some straws out there. I went back a few minutes later no straws. Took about 8 minutes to get my straw. So I’m just sitting, waiting, wishing to get my food and 10 minutes later(about 18 total for you math majors) and I still have no food. Their system to taking orders and delivering is nightmarish and the employees were constantly bickering and pointing fingers over wrong orders. Still waiting. Waiting waiting. NUMBER134 Woooo that’s me that’s me!!! I go and get my food, but lo and behold my quesadilla order is wrong. I ordered a flour tortilla and they gave me corn. I dislike«corn» quesadillas. I have now been here over 30 minutes and still no food. At this point I’m getting pissed. Long wait. Wrong order and now more wait??? WTF??? The lady at the counter told me only 2 – 3 minutes for the quesadilla. Ok. Doable. All I know is the food better be fucking amazing at this point. So five minutes later I check with the register lady and no quesadilla. They haven’t even put it on the grill. They immediately got a tortilla and were about to make it but I just asked for my money back. 40 minutes for shitty service and ineptitude is inexcusable, no matter how good their food might have been. UPDATE!!! I really hate reviewing a restaurant based on the service alone, so I decided to go back and try my luck. I was at la Bodega, saw that gorditas was emptier than your wallet. I gave it a second go, like the ugly drunken girl that you wake up next to the morning after a night of heavy sloshing. You’re naked, she’s naked, why the hell not right? Well the service was speedy fast. I ordered, got my gorditas in 5 minutes flat, and drove home. Mouth watering, couldn’t wait. Took a bite… nothing. It was like biting styrofoam. It wasn’t bad per say, but it was just super mediocre. The chicharrones en salsa roja were bland and so were the gorditas, and the chile relleno inside my other gordita just tasted sad. It tasted like a little kid finding out that grandma didn’t move away but that she’s really dead. Am I glad I left the day of the incident, because if I had tasted that mediocrity after a 40 minute wait, I would have snapped. Continue avoiding like the plague

The gorditas are good, they are a decent size. I got full with eating just one. I paid 9 dollars for a combo that had 3 gorditas, beans, rice & a large drink. The salsa is good & they have 3 different kinds. Service is slow .the interior has bright colored walls, some hanging star lanterns, different colored glass vases, & has lots of seating space.

I just bought some ChurrosLocos, omg they are plain, no Cacahuates, Cueritos tasted so old as well as the Pepino!!! Definitely not worth the price or the wait.

I’ve been to this location of Las Gorditas twice. It’s very different from the location in National City. When you walk in you’re in for a pleasent surprise. The walls are pink and it’s decorated with a modern Mexican touch. I’d make plans to meet friends here but not the other location. There are plenty of booths and tables. The food is delicious. You can see the ladies in the kitchen making the gorditas and tortillas by hand. I’ve tried the Picadillo gordita, the rajas(green chiles) with potatoes gordita and the beans and cheese gordita. These are not Taco Bell style gorditas. They are like a small, thick, round tortilla that is stuffed with whatever you choose. They have about 10 options. Two fill me up and they cost $ 2.35 each. I’ve also ordered their quesadillas and they are sooooooooo good! I love any kind of quesadilla but these are especially good because the corn tortillas are made right there and then. There’s a salsa bar with several types of salsa and other toppings for your food. They also sell raspados, smoothies, Mexican bottled sodas and a ton of other stuff. They have kids meals too. I’m giving it a 3 for service. This is one of the places that has the best intentions(awesome food, cool decorations, great location) but can quickly become shitty due to lack of customer service or the lack of training the workers receive. The workers are super nice but just don’t know how to handle certain situations. Last time I was there I stood in line and waited for my order to be taken. A few minutes later it was my turn but no one helped me. I stood there for like 10 minutes while the cashier was making a smoothie for someone that was pissed off. This person was very mad because they were practically done with their food and the smoothie had not been made. The worker was super nice and respectful but you could tell she was stressed out because she did not know what to do. Four more workers were in the area but they were busy making food. Then she told the lady that she’d take the smoothie to her table. Well, instead of making it she took my order and I was a little stressed out cause I could tell the other customer was about to tell someone off and I could see her smoothie was not even close to getting started. A few minutes later when another worker came up the first worker asked her where to get more strawberries which proved that she did not know what to do or handle an unexpected situation. The smoothie wasn’t made for another 15 minutes and by this time the customer was loudly talking shit about the service. Another thing I don’t like is that there are two cash registers where you order but this is the same area that food is picked up when it is ready. So you might be ordering but have to move out of the way so people can get their trays or you might have to push someone out of the way to get your tray. The cooks were working hard and seemed to have their act together but it was the cashiers who seem like they are not trained well. The cashiers take phone orders too so I also had to stand there while they did that once. I think they need to have a person who is not a cashier or a cook but is just running around getting drinks, taking phone orders, making smoothies and calling out the food that is ready. All the workers were nice, but they just didn’t know how to handle the pressure when it got busy. When I picked up my order I was missing the best part… my quesadilla. They gave me my tray and said to wait but it took forever and I was just standing there with my tray. I think this place would benefit from having people order at the cash register but take a number to their table and have the food delivered there. They have a parking lot and I do like the pink uniforms! I will be going back for sure cause I liked the food a lot and the tv commercials on the Spanish-speaking channels always make me crave some gorditas.
