The guy Darren who runs this has some of the best customer service there is and has some very good products. To top it off I’d you are relatively close in proximity he delivers for free, some places were wanting to charge 20 – 40 bucks to deliver. He even delivered and allowed me to pay while he was there.

Shop around first then come here and by a mattress. This guy is very friendly and professional.

I was very, very impressed with Mattress Store San Diego. My wife and I slept for six months on a box spring that squeaked anytime there was any movement whatsoever. We looked online for a new box spring at a bunch of different places including Sears, Target, Macy’s, etc., and every place has pretty much has a delivery fee of around $ 80. Most box springs are around $ 120 for queen size, and if you add an $ 80 delivery fee on to you’re almost doubling the price. Plus, you have a $ 20 mandatory recycling fee from the state of California if you have them take alway your old mattress/​box spring. So you’re sitting around $ 220 from most mattress places just for a new box spring. Additionally, it takes about a week and a half to two weeks for delivery.
I found Mattress Store San Diego on a Friday night on Unilocal and figured I would text Darren to ask about prices and everything. I wasn’t really expecting anything back because it was a Friday night, and I actually felt kind of bad for texting him late on a weekend, but we just couldn’t take our squeaking box spring anymore. Darren texted me back in less than 15 minutes. First, his price was less than the major mattress places at $ 95. Second, although the delivery was not free like some others, it was only $ 15, and this was probably just for gas because we live quite a ways north of Chula Vista. Including the $ 20 mandatory recycling fee, the total came out to $ 130. Great, much cheaper than other places. What really sealed the deal is that Darren said he could deliver the next day. His delivery guy showed up at 11:00 a.m., carried the box spring up by himself, put it on the bed, helped me put our mattress on top, and quickly took our old, squeaky, piece of crap box spring out the door and was gone. He was in and out in probably around three minutes. My wife and I had the best night’s sleep we’ve ever had.
Don’t waste your time online or in person at the major mattress stores. Darren hooks it up.

My husband and I texted him at 10:15 on a Saturday morning. We met him at the storage unit at 10:45. He had the bed we chose delivered to our house by 1:00 the SAME DAY for FREE. We had our new bed set up and ready for sleep by 2:00. Oh and not to mention his amazing, low, out of this world prices.
We also need a new bed for our guest room and I can’t wait to work with him again soon!!!

We stopped by Sleep Train first and got sticker shock! You can certainly buy a cheap mattress from any one of the many discount furniture stores, but that’s exactly what you’ll get. Darren has QUALITY product at decent prices! And don’t let his «showroom» fool you. He operates out of a storage facility, but it’s part of how he can keep his prices down. This guy runs a top quality operation. Plus, he offers FREE local delivery, what a deal! I’d give him more than five stars if it were possible, just a dynamite guy! Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

If I had known that mattress shopping could be so easy, I would have done it years ago! We were long overdue for new mattresses, showing blatant disregard for the recommendation that a mattress be replaced every eight years. However, my stiff neck and back could no longer be ignored. We set off and made only two stops: first, a well-​known retail location with 30+ mattresses, all priced at $ 700+ and aloof service; second, Darren at the Mattress Store San Diego.
Don’t let the location deter you. His simple showroom helps keep the prices low and the selection manageable. Darren helped my husband I align on a king mattress set that met both of our needs plus a reasonably priced queen for the platform bed in our guest room. Both were delivered as promised tonight. To go from two dated and failing mattresses to two new, hotel-​quality mattresses in eight hours with friendly and informed service… I truly didn’t think it possible. We bought our first mattress at the Mattress Store San Diego on 9÷28÷15. We had checked out a number of stores and warehouses for over week before going to the Mattress Store San Diego. We visited the warehouse which was easy to find, super clean and very well organized. We worked with Darren’s son, Michael. Michael was very polite, professional and patient! He was very knowledgeable and answered our numerous questions with a smile. He even provided us with catalogs and website details for us to look up additional frames. He never pressured us into picking a particular brand or type and let us figure out what we wanted after explaining the different types and features. We selected the CertiPUR-​US, a polyurethane foam queen size set. He provided same day delivery within a couple of hours. We also received a free pillow for checking in :) Our mattress is super comfortable and exactly what we wanted without the BIG expenses.
We are about to purchase our second mattress and this time, we did it just over the phone :)
We talked to Darren and explained what we were looking for, and we are going by his recommendation!

I came here for a new bed frame and mattress about 3 months ago and I’m damn glad I did. I’ve never slept so good in my life and on top of that the entire bed frame with mattress was about $ 300 cheaper than anywhere else. Also was given a free bamboo pillow which run about $ 30 online. To top if off they provide free delivery and I opted to pay extra for full setup which only took about 20 minutes. Great value, great quality. A true gem.

Got our second mattress from Darren today and we were just as impressed as the last time we got the first one! Quality mattress, great prices and unbeatable service!

Having moved back to SD from Europe with no furniture, I was motivated to get some things of good quality but wallet friendly, and easy to fit in an unknown new apartment.
Darren was easy to meet and open to showing me a whole catalog of brands he works with. My profession is online marketing, so I know how to find great deals online. But with furniture, you really need to see what you are buying before it ships to your door.
That’s what drew me to MSSD… you get internet pricing with the ability to kick the tires.
Will absolutely repeat!

1. Darren responded w/​in a reasonable time to my text messages.
2. I scheduled an appointment.
3. Since I arrived earlier than Darren at the appointment, his son was already at the showroom and opened the black gate for me, so I could enter the showroom/​storage unit. The showroom is on the side of the building.
4. Michael (his son) was equally as friendly as Darren.
5. The price on the website regarding the ‘set’ is the mattress and foundation/​box spring. It doesn’t include the cost of the frame/​railing and delivery, so remember to include that in your budget.
6. They provide an incentive if you pay cash.
7. Be flexible w/​the deliver time. They’re busy w/​last minute appointment/​sales, so I was willing to delay the deliver time.
8. Advice: Receive confirmation regarding the price. At the showroom appointment, Darren indicated the total price that he calculated on his phone. However, the next day/​deliver day, the receipt had a higher price. Michael was kind enough to honor the initial price that his dad stated on the appointment day :)
9. I was surprised that they sell new mattresses. At bargain prices, I assumed they were factory rejects or previously owned.

The mattress industry is a scam! Luckily Darren is here to be the hero this city needs.
Today we were passing through the mattresses section at Living Spaces and we see the exact same memory foam mattress for $ 1000 – 1500 that Darren was selling for $ 400. UNBELIEVABLE!
Earlier in the week, we spent an hour and a half with Darren choosing an amazing pocketed spring «Surfrider» mattress for $ 430. I kept thinking we were using too much of his time, but he insisted we take all the time we need.
Although there is no fee for delivery, deliveries are never free because of tipping. According to one economist, «the practice of tipping is one of the most irrational, un-​economic behaviors we engage in. It’s not in our economic best-​interest to tip; essentially we do it because it’s a social norm».

We found our perfect bed and Darren was so helpful and knowledgeable the whole way through! So glad we found him because we saved so much more than we would have through a mattress store and still got the great quality we were looking for. The process was so quick and painless and Darren made himself available the minute we called him. I would recommend Darren to anyone looking for a bed! Keep up the good work!

I never thought I would buy a mattress from an online seller but after reading Darren’s Unilocal reviews, I figured at least make contact and see if he sounds like a «typical» sales person.
My gooooodness, was I wrong! In all of my buying experiences with furniture and appliances for the new house, Darren was, BY FAR, THE best. He was prompt in his responses and very honest when helping me find a mattress that suited my needs. He didn’t push up-​selling on me and he genuinely cared that I got what was best for me.

I was moving and needed a new bed. I looked around and only found outrageously priced mattresses. Looking on the Internet I came across Darren post. I’ll admit I was a little skeptical about going to his location … but I’m completed satisfied. I texted him Sunday afternoon and met him in the evening. Anytime I reached out to him he always responded in a timely manner. When we went to his location he was professional, polite, and very knowledgeable. We ended up buying a king with platform bed and 2 twins set beds. He had beds delivered the next day at our request and had to deliver platform bed 2 days later due to not in stock. He came out a 2^nd time to deliver platform bed and build it. I will definitely use him again and will refer my friends and family. Great prices and excellent customer service.
