Re Planet

It was a Saturday morning. We did our laundry and started to clean up our condo. We had three bags of water bottles and cans we needed to recycle. It was piling up in our kitchen.
We decided to go recycle them at this particular location. It is located at the far corner of the Food for less parking lot. It is basically a storage facility where two guys are working the front. First you put in your plastic water bottles in the slot. Whatever does not take, you grab a empty trash container they have and you dump the ones that don’t take in there. The guys then weigh the ones that don’t take. It is normally the glass, big plastic bottles and those hard plastic containers that don’t take.
The machine that takes the bottles then prints a receipt for you. That was the $ 8.40 receipt that came out. Then we received another $ 3.15 for the ones that was weighed. Not too bad. At least it was something. Once you get the receipt, you have to cash the receipt at Food for less.
We will return here if we have more plastic bottles to recycle. Not too bad of a place to come to. I just did not like the smell that was coming from the location as you got closer to the storage facility. Overall, a descent experience.

One conveyor broken again, out of two. The lines are therefore twice as long. You can eventually get your deposit money returned here, but it will take twice as long.
The customer area is still foul-​smelling and putrid. The blue barrels provided for customers are grossly filthy. If you come to this location, which I do not recommend, wear old shoes and protective gloves. The recent rain apparently was not heavy enough to clean this place. It needs a steam cleaning to sanitize it.
One star added because one of the RE Planet employees was actually pleasant to engage in conversation while I waited one hour and 30 minutes in line. In fact, when I asked why the conveyor has been broken for several weeks, he said it was too expensive to fix. Translation: RE Planet doesn’t give a damn about its customers, who now have to wait twice as long for a deposit refund.
Maybe I shouldn’t have added that star. .. Oh, and the conveyor wouldn’t accept Rolling Rock or Beck’s beer bottles. Clever.

I went here on a Sunday (3NOV13) and I was really happy that this was actually open unlike the other recycling centers around that are closed on weekends. There were two men working inside and keeping up with all the people bringing big bags of stuff in. They showed me how to do it and said I needed to weigh my cans and bottles since they were crushed. The only downside was that they weren’t taking glass that day for some reason.

I went there on Jul 27, Tuesday around 11am.
When I arrived there, I noticed there were 5 – 8 people waiting in line. I thought the line shouldn’t take so long so decided to wait, which I realized right away a big mistake. The line kept getting long and does not move at all. Most of people brigns 3, 4, maybe 5 trash bags, takes 10 – 20 minutes to go through all of them.
This is located between Food4Less and ToysRUs along the E 30^th St (Sweetwater Rd), which is in very convenient place, and I believe when you recycle here you can get the moeny slip for Food4Less.
I thought I could get a lot from what I recycle if I can shop at Food4Less, but time didn’t worth spending so much there.
Maybe Tuesday 11am wasn’t a good time to do it, I’ll try to go there again in the afternoon someday.
