I had lived at this complex from 9⁄1999(was then Arizona Garden Apartments) to May 2012. The complex had years of upgrades during the tenure of Bobbie Firebaugh as Manager – not to mention a string of change in ownership. all great. The«problem» began in January of 2012. The new Manager came to my apartment at 7:30 pm asking that I sign a new rental agreement. I explained that I had signed a lease in June 2011 for one year. She proceeded to tell me that since the former Manager was no longer there, that lease was no longer valid. She then asked who authorized me to paint my apartment. I informed her that I was given written permission to paint in 2006. She also asked who gave me me permission to have a cat… my answer was the same. in 2006 I was granted permission… THREE years BEFORE the current owner purchased the building in September 2009. Things went down hill from there… she(Site Manager and the Supervisor harassed to the point I filed a complaint with the BBB and the Fair Employment and Housing. My Primary Care Physician and Cardiologist sent letters informing them that I was to avoid stress… all to no avail. I finally moved out and had to wait longer than allowed by LAW for them to issue a refund of my Rental Deposit. I had to contact an attorney and send them several letters threatening to sue them for the deposit and damages(up to $ 10,000 allowed by law). On the day that I was to file the lawsuit, I received a call from the Site Manager asking me to stop by and pick up my deposit refund… and it was dated back to within the time allowed by law. They also wanted me to sign and backdate a Move in Walk Thru to 9⁄99 when I moved in… NOTLEGAL !! ALL I CANSAYISSHADYSHADYSHADYPEOPLE… FROMTHESITEMANAGERTOTHEPROPERTYMANAGEMENTCOMPANYTOTHEOWNER.
