Unleashed by Petco

I recently adopted a puppy and stopped by this store to find out more about their training classes. Chelsea was incredibly helpful and gave me all the info on the workshops offered this month as well as discounts and promotions. She also gave me the new puppy package (reusable bag and resource booklet) and even hooked my furbaby up with treats.
Chelsea’s excellent customer service and the store’s cleanliness and organization have me convinced that this is my new go-​to place for Mochi’s needs!

Got off work early today so we took a trip to Unleashed by the recommendation of a coworker.
AWESOME PLACE!
It’s smaller than our local Petco, less of a warehouse feel. The items they have are more unique (but you’ll find everything else you need there as well). Staff described it more like a boutique than a store, this is accurate!
Their selection of organic and natural items (treats, food, dental care) is much more impressive than its base counterpart. We picked up some frozen treats and a pig ear for decent pricing.
Also great sales! Just picked up a waterproof car blanket for 3 dollars!!!
But the highlight has to be the staff! You can tell they love the animals and they are so kind and helpful. Their playful attitude really put my dog at ease. (May also make you want to purchase more, prepare your wallet accordingly!!)
Will definitely be bringing Leia back to see «auntie» Lee Ann, Beth, and Cecilia real soon! I’ve been eyeing their spa services… hehe.

Aww, I love coming here! Some of the employees are very bubbly with great personalities, others not so much. Can’t complain though! They have a great selection of items and a good variety of limited ingredient food/​treats. If the online price is $ 5 – 10 difference, they will match that price! Unless it is the greenies treats, they cant do half off, so better to buy online! It only took 2 – 3 days, since the facilities have fast transportation to SoCal.
I also tried the vetco clinic and the people who came were also very nice. They were gentle and made sure I understood the microchip paperwork. There was a 20 minute wait, but I think it was worth it, since my babies are sensitive to rough hands from other facilities.
I have been to the self wash sometimes, I think it is a great idea and close to home! They do check for fleas and ticks, and I’m glad they do! Just because you refuse to treat your dog, does not mean that you should pass along what comes off your dog to others. If there is ever a time I can’t treat my dog on time, I simply wait on going to public places until I do. Please understand this is a necessary policy! I may not use the selfwash as much as I use to, but one of the reasons why I stopped. I saw 5 fleas from a previous self washer. and the employees tried to clean it. Better to do it at home!

They didn’t have the large bag of food that I wanted so he got me two small ones for the price that would have been a large bag saving me money (which he didn’t have to do). Also made a great recommendation on tooth gel for my pups. Thanks Jeremy!

I love this place. I take my dog there regularly for grooming. All the groomers do a great job but my favorite is Sheri. She does a fantastic job on my mini schnauzer. My dog also took a training class there. The trainer, Rachelle was great. She’s very patient and she knows how to bring the best out of your dog. The prices for training classes are very reasonable, I highly recommend them. They also have a great selection of pet food, treats, toys and the rest of your pet needs. Plus, the staff is always super friendly

Need one of the best groomers in San Diego?!? GO SEE JOSH! No seriously he is THE best I have ever found. My dog can be quite picky when it comes to grooming, he won’t let me brush him and he hate it when he gets a bath but when he see’s josh he just melts and turns into the sweetest pup. I’ve been taking my dog to josh for ruffly 3 years now and if I wasn’t moving out of state I would keep going! His hair cut comes out the exactly the same every time and I have never had a issue with one stray hair after he has been groomed. I recommend him to everyone that’s looking for a groomer.
Josh is one of the best ever like I said above and my pup and I will truly miss him.

I love coming here! I used to only shop at PetSmart but I tried Petco and the reward points can’t be beat! I adopted a cat from Chula Vista Animal Shelter and got a book of coupons … they are amazing! I saved so much money from them! Also, the service is always great. Today, Lee Ann and Jesse helped me and I was so greatful! They answered my questions and informed me of a better food for my Bengal. Lee Ann said a customer left a book of coupons for people and she gave me a $ 4 off my cat food. I was so happy! These two went above and beyond, and I greatly appreciated their excellent customer service!

I took my dog cookie for grooming and they did just what I asked them to do. Everyone was super friendly and helpful

Stepped into the store for the first time yesterday with our newly adopted dog. Lee Ann was great! She was so nice and kind enough to help me with all the essentials needed to bring our first inside dog home. The grooming department was also Great and squeezed our dog into their busy schedule. This will definitely be our store for «Jack»

This place will always amaze me!
I had to get my doggies a haircut, now living in La Mesa I called every Petco/​Unleashed in the surrounding areas– Petco was booked until later in the week I couldn’t do that my schedule is busy. Unleashed over here hAd no grooming in La Mesa and Spring Valley just self wash. Soo I called over to the Chula Vista branch to see if our good friend Josh is available.
Thank god he was! He remembers my dog Bulbasaur and hasn’t seen us for a yr and yet to meet our new addition– Dot-​Dot. So booked an appt with him!
Got to the store and he saw us and greeted the doggies right away. i love Joshs’ customer service he makes you feel at ease and trusting because he’s practically taking care of your fur baby! All the associates are nice here! Appt was 9am and he said he will call to lmk when they’re ready to get picked up and it would take about 3−6hrs.
Around 12:30 I got a call and they were done! Got to the store and y babies are nice amd shaved, the way I wanted it not too bald and not too hairy! Nails are perfect everything was great! I love it!
I recommend Josh for grooming. He’s really good at his job and so friendly! I will make the drive from La Mesa to Chula Vista now just to bring my babies here for grooming!

Came into the store tonight, September 21, 2015, and was greeted right away. The employees are very friendly and helpful! My puppy Leo was being a brat and pretty timid but they gave him treats, were extra friendly and recommended the puppy classes. David was trying to get love from Leo and even got down on the floor to feed him treats (which Leo loved, thanks David!) Leanne showed us the puppy food we were looking for and brought it up to the front for us she even helped Leo pick out his new favorite hedgehog toy (which was on sale). Laura rang us up and helped us get as much of a discount as possible on our purchase. The employees here provide excellent customer service and Unleashed is very lucky to have them. In a couple months Leo will be seeing you guys for puppy classes! Thanks again.

We absolutely love this place! From the first time we stopped in to try the self grooming to our once a week visits the employees have been so sweet and helpful. They know our puppy by name and always recommend the best products. DAVID is so wonderful! He always stops to play with our puppy and give him a treat or two. Thank you Unleashed!!!

NOTE: I give FIVE stars for those two employees present on that afternoon I took Bart in for a self wash. they were courteous, friendly to me and Bart. no stars for their self wash policy. I found this on Unilocal to give him a wash before I head back to the Bay Area tonight. when I came I was instantly greeted by the two employees. empty store as I was the only one in there. when I told them I needed a self wash, they started playing with Bart which I thought was nice but little did I know they were trying to look for fleas. my Bart gets monthly flea prevention and treatment plus I use oatmeal flea shampoo for prevention .he is also due for a groom as he has thick shaggy fur and he is getting matted but my regular groomer is in Pacifica and I won’t see her till first week of June. so they found a flea crawling underneath his tummy, he was denied a service for a self wash due to an illegal tenant in his tummy. I was bummed as I drove to get here plus I’ve been to many different pet washes without any incidents. I was offered to come back this weekend for a pill that only a vet can prescribe. he is not allowed to use the self wash until this pill is taken. I’m only visiting so there’s no way I can come on the weekend to see their vet. left the place feeling sad, went back to my brothers place, game him a shower with flea killing oatmeal shampoo, blow dried, groomed, and now he’s back to his fluffy smooth fur. petco you and your policy suck!!!

We love the workers here! Josh has been grooming our puppy Buddha sine he was 6m. We’re going to sign up with the wonderful trainer Rachel for therapy dog training classes soon. I do miss the buy nine get one groom free …

Josh in the grooming department is AMAZING! Our dog won’t even let us brush him, but he lets Josh do wonders on him. Josh is the most caring groomer I have ever met. He always makes sure to say goodbye to our baby, Dublin, and shows how much he cares for each pup he grooms. I recommend him to everyone! You can tell he really enjoys his job and does his best to make your pup look amazing. He knows what he is talking about and it shows in his work. Dublin always walks out prancing after he gets groom and is happy.
Side note for when you don’t want to get your dog groomed but they need a bath, the $ 10 self bath stations are awesome! You don’t have to bring anything but your dog. It makes it easy so you don’t have to lean over a tub to bathe your dog. Also you don’t have to worry about clogging your drain!
We love this store and everything it has to offer. The store itself is very clean and tidy and has great products to offer everyone for every time type of dog or cat. Everyone that works here is very knowledgable, kind, and ready to help you with anything. You can’t go wrong stopping here!

I had been going to Unleashed on Hst in Chula Vista for the past 3 years and they had always provided me with cotton balls for my dog’s ears for the self-​service bath. Some dog breeds are more prone to ear infections and you really have to be careful that their ears are protected. My dog was already tied up and I had requested the cotton balls and waited for 10 minutes to have the manger on duty (Will) to come and tell me that the policy has changed? I asked for proof of this policy change and he was not able to provide any written document about this new policy. Will lacks poor management skills. He was not able to provide any proof about this policy change; it was as if he was delighted that he was not able to give me cotton balls. My dog was already tied up ready to go, and instead of saying «I am so sorry, I do not have any proof, but I am telling you verbally today and because you have been coming here for 3 years, we value your business and I will give you cotton balls for your dog that is already tied up and ready to go, so that she does not get an ear infection, next time, just please bring your own cotton balls». That is a good manager

Love this place. From self wash dog area to the grooming and the extensive food options they offer. Josh in the grooming area does an amazing job. We love bringing our Nala to him…(mix spaniel/​corgi).
I highly recommend this location the staff and store manager are very knowledgeable and their friendly attitude will want to make you come back.

Josh in the grooming salon does a great job grooming my dog Foxy (Border Collie/​Australian Shepard) He has great customer service and you can tell he has patience for the animals.
However the dog supplies and food are over priced.

I had a coupon for a free bag of cat food, and it was only to be used at a Petco/​Unleashed store. I normally shop at Petsmart, because the prices are so much higher at Petco/​Unleashed.
I went into the store, and it was totally empty, but I got my free bag of cat food, the cashier was very nice, but the prices are too high for me to shop there on a regular basis.
