Warning: if you are afraid of clowns do not eat here. Excessive amount of creepy clown décor. I can’t even really adequately describe it. That said, the food is mediocre at best. My fish sandwich arrived not fully cooked — milky inside. Very unappetizing. Fries are good. Service is good. The only part of this establishment that I patronize now is the ice cream window, so I don’t have to go inside. Ps. Now that I have to eat a gluten free diet, I doubt I will ever go here again. Not much to offer. Magic Wand? More like Tragic Wand. Sorry. Nostalgia is not enough.

Best ice cream around. The ET sundae is to die for. Good food, too. Great local non chain place. Try it out

Since Indiana is famous for pork tenderloin sandwiches, I decided to try one here. Big mistake. The pork was dry and overcooked. I made the mistake of asking for it with«everything,» and got some mayo that must have gone bad. I was sick the rest of the day. Stick with the burgers, I guess.

I have been going to the magic wand since I was about 5 and have always enjoined the ham dandy. We were going through town and the kids wanted ice cream and I told them that I knew where there was great ice cream and after having some they agreed!

Wow… The magic Burger here is like what a big mac should taste like! If you’re even thinking about going to the McDonald’s Golden arches across the street turn the other way and come here. FRESH, FLAVORFULANDALLREALBEEF. It felt like Magic Wand fairy with every bite kicked Ronald McDonald in the nutz and laughed. I also had the best way homemade cherry cobbler ever! … Topped with ice cream of course.

Best travelling food in northern Indiana. Great shakes. Go for the tenderloin and ribbon fries.

Ordered a hamburger. The best they had. I cannot believe I am going to say this but mcdonalds hamburger tasted better than this. Ordered extra pickle and onions on the burger and got neither. GOOD Customer service. Excellent fries. Just skip the burger.

Yummy! We had burgers and tater tots and topped it off with glaciers. Great service and the atmosphere is fun. They have outdoor seating and an outdoor window where you can order your food. They also have indoor seating.

I ran across this little gem while I was on the road. I had to stop when I saw them advertising a breaded cheese burger. It was not only unique but very good the cheese is breaded with the meat so be careful not to burn yourself on the first bite. A must try once in your life.

If you want typical fast food, go across the street. If you want a great burger, wonderful service, and a 50’s vibe(albeit a little weird with all the clowns) then this is the place for you! Order the Magic Burger, fries and a Coke with vanilla, and you will never, ever go back across the street again.

I stopped here on my way to Goshen from Fort Wayne. I first saw the Mc Donald’s but then saw the Magic Wand. I figured a place that could compete /thrive after a Mc Donald’s moved it must be something worthwhile. The diner itself is kinda old school with a magic /clown theme as mentioned. Service was fast and small town friendly. That was something that I thought was really cool, friendly small town conversation. I chose the Magic Burger Basket and everything was great hot and fresh… Burger, Fries, and coleslaw. The food was solid, and wholesome. I could tell that the food was unsalted left to season yourself which is good if you don’t like a lot of salt. Didn’t have room for desert but that gives me a reason to go back :)

This is a great Diner. I had the Magic Burger with Onion Rings and they are worth driving 10 miles for. The waitress was very friendly and the food came out quickly. I will eat here again and again when I am working in the area.

After seeing all the reviews for this place and liking to try non-chain places, HAD to stop in the other night when checking out the«Turtle Days Festival» in Busco. In a nutshell, was NOT disappointed with the food or service in any manner. The wife got the Magic-burger(I think that is what its called, the one that they are known for) and onion rings. The meet is not the same stuff that McD’s uses, its actually very good and not greasy. :) The onion rings were very good as well, as I had to sample a couple to check to make sure they were as good as she said they were myself. I got the fried tenderloin sandwich and all I can say is «WOW, that sucker is HUGE and good!» I ate what I could of the tenderloin and ended up taking the other half home to warm up and eat the next day(yes, it was very good after warming in a microwave) and if you are like we are, you could probably buy one and share it, its that big. The veggies that they used to dress my sandwich were very tasty, the maters actually taste like maters, not wallpaper paste(and local maters aren’t even in yet!) The only downside I see to this place is that it IS kind of rundown. If I hadn’t seen the reviews on Unilocal,I would not have stopped there judging from the outside appearance and the inside would have stopped me at the door, if I had made it that far. The place is always crowded(has been every time we have been through Busco), so owners should take some of that profit and invest in some paint, etc. However, we went there to eat and not eat the paint off the walls, so the appearance is not something I would let get in my way of eating there again. Give this place a try, I am sure that you will like it. PS: They serve ice cream products, but we were both too full to try any of them and they have outside service for drinks, ice cream treats, etc. that you can walk up to. Next time we are thru Busco, we will give that a try, for sure.

Good Food, but the clown thing is a little outdated so is the interior. just a few fixes and the place would be nice. but like most places that have been open for a long time and in a small town they are more interested in getting money than putting money back into the place. but thats just my opinion. but the food is good and has that hometown classic dinner taste.

Coulrophobic’s beware! Burger lovers rejoice! In other word’s…if you don’t like clowns don’t go to the Magic Wand(they’re EVERYWHERE, not real ones, just tons of pictures, figurines, etc). But… if you’re a fan of clowns or indifferent to clowns and you LOVE great food — espeically burgers — then this is the place for you! The menu offers a pretty wide variety and many of the items have cute, unique names like«The Mr David Burger» and, of course, the signature«Magic Burger.» Theres even a nice selection of fries… waffle fries, curly fries, american fries, french fries, etc. Breakfast served all day! Plus wonderful dessert! Yeah, the interior is tacky, but it’s a good, wouldn’t-have-it-any-other-way sort of tacky. The service is friendly and so are most of the other customers. Thats the thing about Busco, you can really talk to just about anyone… but you can keep to yourself, too :) I eat here whenever I can and its my go-to eatery when I’m with friends. There’s only one way a small, independent restaurant can survice in a little town like Busco — right across the street from McDonalds, no less — and thats popularity! I love the Magic Wand! Everyone has a restaurant that feels like home to them… and no matter where I go, this will always remain mine :) If you ever find yourself in Turtle Town, don’t miss it!

Possible negatives: smoking is allowed in the restaurant. Some people(those with a clown phobia) won’t be able to handle this place. The interior is divided into a back room with tables and chairs, a lunch counter area with stools, and the front and north side of the restaurant are booths. There is a HUGE clown collection on display in the restaurant, some more frightening than others. Murals painted on the windows change with the seasons… in February there were polar bears and blue jays alongside the happy clowns. Seat yourself and open up a menu and a waitress will come to take your order. On to the food! I’ve eaten here twice and both times the service was really friendly and quick, and the food was delicious, hot, and clearly fresh. I’m a cheeseburger girl, so the first time I had a Magic Burger and the second a bacon double with cheese. Here they serve local round that’s ground fresh daily at the IGA(grocery) across the street. It’s very high quality beef and since it’s the leaner round portion it has much less fat and gristle than cheaper beef or chuck have. The Magic Burger is similar in construction to the Big Mac, but better tasting & meatier. It has the 1000 Island-ish sauce that you find at McD’s, Steak ‘n’ Shake, Big Boy, etc. My bacon-cheese double was the best old-style burger I’ve had in awhile. 2 slices of cheese, 2 thick pieces of bacon, and 2 beef patties on a fresh bun topped to order. It made my day! Also on the menu are favorites such as pork tenderloins, chili dogs, and tater tots. There’s an entire page of the menu devoted to dessert: pies, soft serve, and sundaes. The ownership and management of this restaurant care about their food & customers and it shows. Give it a try next time you’re traveling on I-69 near Ft. Wayne. Only about 20 minutes north of the interstate, on US-33, it’s worth the trip!

Probably a little biased cause I’ve been frequenting this drive-in since I was a wee lad. Grew up in a neighboring town and have eaten here more times than I could ever count. Drive-In style menu accompanied by home style dinners and specials makes this a great stop with variety and selection for everyone. Original burgers like the Magic Burger and the Big Max(named for ½ of the husband/wife proprietors who have owned the Wand for over 30 years). The best breaded onion rings you’ll find just about anywhere. Don’t know what it is they do, but I’ve yet to find better rings anywhere in the country. Probably one of the most popular items on the menu and one that always draws me back every time I make my way back to the area is the Breaded Pork Tenderloin. Amazing. The fillet is about the size of your plate and you could definitely make two sandwiches out of it(sometimes I have). Again, don’t know what it is they put in that breading but this sandwich keeps them coming back from all over. And finally, if it’s summertime, you can’t drive past here without stopping in at the walk up window for an ice cream treat. Glaciers, Sundaes, and Dip Top Cones. Don’t miss out.

Magic Wand in Churbusco In Old diner since 1964, but the building is much older. Could have been a Valentine or similar diner previous. They serve a Tenderloin sandwich that is «made on premises» I wasn’t that hungry so I went for the Magic burger. Kind of bland with a sweet tasting sauce, but much better than the McD across the street. Always try the local eatery before the chain.
