This Unilocal listing and your website made it look like you had a tasting room, we were so bummed after driving out of our way only to find its doors closed and that we would not get to sample their tasty looking beer!

We visited 5 Stones during their recent Veterans celebration. They are a brewery with a heart, and the tasting was donation-only based, with the proceeds going to support our vets. As we left the venue my friend, a vet, received a thank-you gift of a bottle of their delicious pumpkin ale; that was an unexpected and thoughtful treat. They have a variety of creative craft beers with unique flavors, and a variety of fruit and spice notes. My favorites: — The Aloha Pina, with notes of pineapple and a zing(jalapeño). Let yourself warm up to this one. — The Stonewall Peach beer, effervescent and with strong notes of peaches. — The Norma Jean, a «fun» blonde ale, with hints of strawberries and vanilla. — Sleepy Hollow, not your typical pumpkin ale — this one is unusual with smokiness and hops. It is very drinkable!

Every beer is handcrafted and created with a certain character that makes every beer unique. The beers have a story and the story can be discovered by examining the labels that give the beer a distinct history of how it should taste and how it was created. The brewery uses fresh local fruits and herbs to enhance the experience of a unique, local, artisan brewery.

5 Stones has been my favorite local brewery since they first started pushing beer(beer with a focus on including as many seasonal and local ingredients as possible) out the door… That judgment feels even more valid now that they’ve brought a Great American Beer Festival medal(for Aloha Pina — a delightful balance of pineapple and jalapeño) back to San Antonio… nicely done! It’s owned and operated by THE nicest family — an all-hands-on-deck kind of affair — who have amazing passion for what they do, and it shows in the beer. Such great stuff! Open House events happen approximately quarterly, and are SO well organized.. attendance is limited, so there aren’t overwhelming crowds, and the beer tends to last long enough that you’re able to try pretty much any one that you’d like, without feeling like you need to get back into the line as soon as your glass is full.. comfortably awesome! The annual Veterans Day Celebration is free to vets(LOVE that gesture! !), the Big Band/swing event soundtrack is is *so* uniquely cool, there’s tons of seating, usually a great food truck on site, always phenomenal company, and of course, 5-star beers. I just can’t say enough good things about 5 Stones!

Finally got to attend an open house at 5 Stones. Had an awesome time. Great beer(some of it was a little odd, but still good) and a laid-back, uncrowded atmosphere. 5 Stones makes some excellent beer. Their brews are pretty evenly divided between fruit-infused beers and darker beers infused with other flavors. Today’s selection included some beers that would be perfect for warmer weather(which was Ok, since it’s Texas and it was 70+ degrees) and some others that are great for winter weather. Of the lighter beers, I liked the Home for the Holidays with prickly pear. But don’t make me choose one of the heavier beers — Camo, Sleepy Hollow, Toby G’s and Fracking Blackstrap were all excellent. If I had to choose, it would be the Blackstrap. But I’m not going to choose. If you haven’t been here yet, it’s a tiny brewery contained into a couple of small warehouses. Seating for the open house is all outdoors. Since it’s Texas, that’s perfect for the fall.

I went there for the Veterans’ Day event. It was delicious. While I was expecting an entire building as the brewery, and a place to sit during the height of visiting time, it was still awesome. Had 4 out of the 5 beers I wanted to try and it was delicious. This is definitely one of my most favorite breweries nationwide.
