Being a lover of food in my opinion Mr. taco has one of the best tasting Mexican food in Chicago. I understand they started pop up in buildings in the loop for lunch chicken beef pork tacos absolutely delicious under $ 10 today ThursdayJanuary 28 at540 W. Madison in the lobby check it out word it all the way

Heading westbound down Ogden Ave from the south loop is the way to go. Then once you reach Austin Ave you can’t help but notice a little corner taco joint. So rather than test my patience in rush hour, I will treat myself to a taco dinner.
3 Beef Taco Dinner with Rice and Beans was plenty filling. Made fresh right in front of me. Staff was super friendly and checked on me to make sure everything was to my liking. They use double tortillas so no messy accidents. The rice was spot on good which is always one of the hardest food items in my experience to get right.
Love the horchata and carrots! Prices were fair and I plan on ordering a burrito next time.

OMG FIRST TIME TRYING THIER FOOD… they didn’t take my order correctly after I repeated it 3x… steak wasn’t seasoned and not cut up… TACOS WERE absolutely HORRIBLE UGHHH. Never again will I order here again… It gets no stars if it was my decision but you cannot post unless you select at least one star

This is one of those hole in the wall Mexican places that is really good and if you don’t know about it you’ll never find it. Highly recommend it. Everything is made fresh. Steak quesadillas and burritos are excellent. Only thing I wish they had is Jarritos.

This is a little hole in the wall dirty dive. The walls were dirty. Some guy out front was begging for change. The staff is rude. The food was alright but all in all this wasn’t a good experience at all.

This place has been around forever, a local institution. Where else do you get steak tacos where the meat is actual thin steaks? Anything chicken is awesome but the real deal is the steak quesadilla plate (#11) with some of the house made pickled peppers and carrots. Basically your amazing hole in the wall Mexican place…

This place is disgusting, idk y so many fools luv it. Last resort, only if I was dying of hunger. Even then, there’s so many mex spots in this area, idk why ppl settle for it. Y do I hate it? Too much fat in the steak, rice (dry) & beans are the worst I’ve ever had. The place isn’t very sanitary either, see for yourself. Terrible flavor! Stay Away!

If you’re looking for ambiance, this is not the place. Some might describe it as a small hole in the wall. The owner is usually there, he seems tired, but he’s good at getting you in and out, with a satisfied tummy.
But the food: the main reason you’re coming here, is DELICIOUS! I’ve had several dishes and they have all been good (except the ground beef, meh). Best would be the steak quesadillas #11 plate. Seriously won’t leave you hungry. Filling and absolutely flavorful. Also, anything with their chicken. It’s cooked to perfection and has a yummy flavor in its juice/​sauce. Tostadas, burritos, tacos… Everything here is great.
Again, this isn’t the place to go and bring your entire family out to eat, if you’re looking for that, go elsewhere or order to go. But to stop in for a bite to eat, it’s perfect. I would definitely recommend trying it at least once!

Burritos and tacos are amazing! Meat is so juicy. Not sure about all the other stuff. I usually only order that.
A little on the expensive side. But hey you get what you pay for. They don’t take debit cards which is a downer.
The place is small maybe 4 – 5 bench tables available. It’s one those places you just pick up and go though.

The worst mexican restaurant I’ve been to. Food is just mediocre. Once in a blue moon you’ll get something good if there is a good chef but I don’t recommend it. The owner is disrespectful and always angry at customers.
A friend of mine forced him to refund his money once because he didn’t feel welcomed. The restaurants on cermak are ten times better.
Don’t waste your time with this place. It’s filthy inside, food not great, and shity owner. Surprised they’re still open.

Steak tacos are great. Ordered a Quesadilla which was actually an OPEN-​FACE TACO with cheese melted in inside if tortilla??? NOT a traditional Quesadilla. NOT A QUESADILLA!!! Also creepy old man behind counter staring at me as I came out of restroom & walked to car.

Maybe because I wasnt intoxicated that this place was just okay. Ordered the chicken tacos and it didnt have any flavor. The rice was okay. It reminded me of the boxed stuff. They dont take credit cards. it’s 2014 who carries a lot of cash ! I like trying new places and now I know! Will not be making a trip back here!

I came here with two of my friends after a long afternoon of mushy mayhem (officially called the Tomato Battle: Chicago). Still somewhat drippy with tomato bits in odd places and wearing potentially questionable post-​battle attire, we placed our orders and sat. We were nibbling on the house mix of carrots, jalapenos and garlic bulbs when our orders came up.
Maybe I was starving but my tacos al pastor were phenomenal. The carne asada was also very good. My friend who has been going here forever asked me to try a bit of her quesadilla and it was delicious, with a little cheese crusted to perfection around the edges.
This place is a definite dive but you know what? We fit right in and no one judged despite how ragged we might have looked. I don’t know how I’ve missed this place before, but thanks to my friends I’m definitely coming back.
