When I start school again in the fall, I’ll be moving into a new apartment with some of my friends. I figured I’d check out Alamo Electronics and see what they had in the store, although I knew I wouldn’t be buying a $ 1000 television. Alamo is a retail store across from Stafford Jewelers in Montgomery and although its name might imply a wide range of electronics, it’s not anything like a Circuit City in terms of its array of products. When you walk in to Alamo, it’s like a large riving room… if living room’s consisted entirely of TVs and home entertainment systems. All of the TVs were flat screen LCDs and pretty much everything was on sale in an effort to sell the newest products on the market and to compete with everyone else. I saw one TV that was originally $ 899 but marked down to $ 827, but I don’t know that the sale price actually makes it cheaper than the other stores in town. Comparing prices to those on , everything looked about the same. The TVs were definitely top of the line products from familiar companies such as LG, Sony, and Sharp, but it’s more than just television at Alamo. Alamo specializes in the actual home theater/entertainment system with custom installation. They had some great set-ups in the store, including a special home theatre room. While the 60″ TV set-up looked great, even the 23″ LCD looked nice. For $ 599 I’ll pass though, at least for now. If I do ever decide to buy a new TV, however, what will make me come back to Alamo is their narrow focus. Unlike Best Buy and Circuit City who has to keep up with the latest trends in just about everything electronic, Alamo is definitely on top of their game with TVs and entertainment systems. Need I say, ‘Remember the Alamo?’
