I came in here to have a beer while I did some work because I was tired of being in my hotel room. Service started out great — the server acknowledged me right away, made a recommendation of a local beer, and brought the beer promptly. As the evening went on, I was joined by four friends and somehow this made service worse. We waited 30 minutes for our bill at the end of the night, and even then the server seemed disgruntled with us. This is in complete contrast to the rest of the hotel staff I encountered, who were all friendly and helpful.

The Bearcat Lounge is located inside of the Marriott Kingsgate in Cincinnati. It’s a nice bar and lounge with several HD TVs scattered throughout the lounge and lots of seating. I came in early in the day and got a cup of coffee. They made a fresh pot when I came in — coffee was pretty good — Starbucks branded. I sat in the lounger, plugged in my MacBook Pro and all of my devices to charge up and worked for a couple of hours. Several other folks were also working away on their laptops. Later that evening, I came in here for something to eat and to try some local Ales. I sat at the bar and ordered: — Hop Bomber — a Rye Pale Ale(Rivertown Brewing Co., Lockland, OH) An American rye pale ale named after the famous B-24 Liberator Bomber. This beer has a malt backbone from the use of dark British crystal malt and spicy fresh rye malt. It is dry hopped with two varieties of American hops for a crisp refreshing flavor. — Dad(Rhinegeist Brewery, Cincinnati, OH) A hoppy Holiday Red Ale that has a blend of hop spice, citrus and some caramel malts… I had two of the Hop Bombers — I would have had a third but I drank the last two Ales they had, and so had to switch to the Dad, which was also very good. I also ordered some tortilla chips with beer cheese, bacon, and scallions on them. Served with sour cream and salsa on the side. These were not very good. Service was excellent, the two bartenders working the bar knew a lot about local craft beers and so we had a nice discussion about this. One thing I will ding the lounge on — behind the bar there are to tiny HD TVs side-by-side. They are waaaaaayyyyyyy to small. I commented to one of the bartenders that the hotel should rip out the two shelves beneath the two TVs to expand the area, take the two small TVs out — and put in a much larger HDTV.
