I stopped downtown to drop some papers off and parked on the side of this building. Don’t let the pictures of this food fool you! This place is AWESOME! I will say however I was VERY disappointed by the chips and«salsa». If they make the salsa home made than I apologize ahead of time… but I give it the ruling of can salsa. Chips also come from a bag and it was jus terrible. They were out of at least three pops too. On to the food… The burrito was very good. Chorizo AND fried rice? Sign me up.

I have stopped here for lunch a few times, and every time I find something to make my experience even better! The guys are always super friendly and willing to offer suggestions, and the food is always fresh. Definitely a new regular lunch place fo rme! Try a burrito or quesadilla with their spicy chicken– it’s not super spicy, but it has a great smoked chipotle sauce.

Like Chipotle but more authentic. Good fresh ingredients and meats the make one delicious burrito.

Had lunch here today. As other say its bare bones, and a total Chipotle inspired place. I would say it was better then my last couple Chipotle visits. The burrito was just as big, tasted as good, maybe better. But the big thing is these guys take their time to build your burrito and wrap it up so its not breaking open when you go to eat it. Would absolutely visit again, and tell others to try it.

I ate here on a(cold) weeknight and was the only customer. It is open until 8PM on weeknights while everything else closes much earlier in that area. I am from Southern California so have eaten a lot of Mexican food. I highly recommend Burritos El Charco. It’s best described as an authentic version of Chipotle. It has the same burrito-bar style. Although the food didn’t look appetizing, it tasted great! The guacamole is prepared authentically, same for the chips and salsa. The tortillas aren’t made on the premises but they tasted much better than expected. The prices were reasonable and the workers were very nice.

I really like Burritos El Charco and find myself eating there for lunch three or four times each month. I usually get a vegan bowl, and occasionally a burrito. The food is reliably good, if not mindblowing, and the service and prices are friendly to me and my wallet.

Stopped in after work when nearly every other cheap restaurant has shut down for night and you’re forced into the busier and more expensive Gateway Quarter. Court Street offers the only cheap food after work near OTR except pizza. Very clean, friendly staff, and quick. It’s your basic Chipotle style Mexican setup. $ 6.25 for a very good sized burrito. Tastes better than it looks, especially the rice and salsas. I’ll be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap quick bite.

Another worthwhile addition to Court Street’s modest«Restaurant Row» of mostly independent, unassuming storefront lunch stops, Burritos El Charco is basic and spartan. Although it appears to be operated by Latinos, the restaurant is based on the cafeteria-style template of burrito behemoths Chipotle and Qdoba.(There are also«bowls,» tacos, and quesadillas.) This is mildly disappointing, because I get the feeling that the owners could create something a little better if they expanded their fare beyond that restrictive gameplan. Anyway, the food is more than adequate for a quick lunch stop. If the meats are a little on the bland side – I hate to say it, but they’re not quite as flavorful and tender as what you’d get an average Chipotle, although a notch or two tastier than what gringo-run Burrito Joe’s offers – there are some additional salsas, including a pico de gallo that’s nicely interlaced with minced jalapenos for an extra kick. Prices are very fair: $ 6.25 for a good-sized burrito. And the service has been friendly and competent when I’ve gone. Four stars is overstating Burritos El Charco’s value, but as a micro-business fighting too many corporate food enterprises downtown, it is good enough to deserve the boost from three-point-something.

I will say I was not really impressed. They were very fast but that’s because no one was in front of me. It appeared to be a one man working the line and a woman running the cash register. I got a bowl to go. It was bland and didn’t have any real flavor to it. They get 2 stars for being nice and quick service.

Nothing fancy — make no mistake ’bout that. Seven dollars for a steak burrito, all the way, and just what I hoped for as a quick pickup. I don’t eat out often, but I’d be tempted to revisit just because they did good. FWIW, they had been open about a week; no, they no longer serve Chinese food there :)
