Great place to stop in for a quick bite downtown. Place your order at the counter, find a seat and in just a few minutes you’ll be delighting your taste buds. This location has a small menu of sandwiches, breakfast items, soup and salad. Top recos for the chicken curry sandwich and the breakfast sandwich. Price is on par with similar stop in venues… about $ 8 for a large sandwich and a drink.(The curry sandwich itself can feed two imo). With warmwr weather finally here, you may want to grab a spot on the picnic tables outside… but get there before the noon lunch crowd if you are in a hurry.

Awesome breakfast sandwich! Glad I finally tried this place. Great fresh ingredient renditions of classic breakfast diner food. Will have to come back for lunch.

Cute coffee shop serving up some breakfast items. Nice interior with clean lines and modern décor. Very clever way of using the plant as a drip receptacle. Plus their coffee is delicious!

I had been looking forward to trying cheapside and it did not disappoint. I don’t eat pork and they were quick to suggest they sub spaghetti squash and tomatoes in for the chorizo on the chorizo/egg sandwich. It was hearty enough to serve as brunch and tasted delicious. The eggs were fluffy and the green chilies had kick that rounded out the rich flavors. The bread was also perfectly toasted. The sandwich itself was great, however the place was crowded and hard to find a seat which made the experience slightly below 5 stars. I understand this is out of their control but when there is a long line at the counter and all the seats are taken/not turning over, you feel a little stuck.

Great food, especially for the price. I feel like I give out too many high marks, but I go to mostly top rates spots. This one does hold up to expectations.

LOVE the atmosphere. The décor is modern, yet minimalistic and cozy. Air plants, wood, and lots of clean lines. The menu is simple, which makes ordering a breeze. Everything sounded delicious, but I opted for the Challa French Toast and a coffee. It was the perfect amount of food. No frills, but it didn’t need it. Simple, fresh ingredients were the stars. It’s a small place; I almost missed it from the road, so keep your eyes peeled. I would recommend to anyone and will definitely visit again.

I lovingly refer to this place as Hyde Park West. It’s hipster brunch place with a yuppie vibe in the best way possible. To start, it’s in the heart of downtown and has one of the best patios in the city complete with a teepee when the weather is nice. The inside is a cool mix of white and natural wood with plenty of seating. Though you may have to hover next to someone finishing up their meal to snag a spot on Saturday mornings. They have top notch coffee, serving mostly Woodburl, a roaster out of Dayton. They have great baristas that you’ll see at the other great coffee bars around town. I haven’t even gotten to the food yet. You can’t go wrong, the breakfast sandwich is out of this world if you want savory, and the brulee oatmeal is perfect if you’re craving sweet. Unlike the name, the place is not cheap, expect to pay $ 9 – 15 for food and a drink, but it is so worth it! Get up a little early on Saturday for an amazing breakfast, or sleep in and catch brunch, either way you can’t go wrong here.

I visited Cheapside with my boyfriend this past weekend before heading to a walk down by the banks. We got there right after they opened — around 7:20am — and were the first two customers in the store. Having been drooling over their Challah French Toast and Breakfast sandwich Instagram’s, we quickly ordered and sat down. Maybe within five minutes of sitting, this place became packed with multiple parties stopping by for breakfast. With only one server/front host, things start to slow(our food sat for a little bit on the counter while she was assisting other customers), but we were super happy once it did arrive! The Challah French Toast was amazing. The bread was light, sweet, and not overly done with sugar or butter. The candied pecans on top were a great compliment to the overall flavor! The Breakfast sandwich was top notch. The bread was crunchy and thin, but help the sandwich toppings together well — which were overflowing with flavor. The pimento cheese and bacon were a great, savory combo with a perfectly over-medium egg. It was hard to pick one menu item out of the two we tried as the best, but my vote definitely goes towards this sandwich. The only drawback was the pricing of the coffee — $ 4 for a basic cappuccino. While it is made with top-notch beans and machines, it did not translate into a fantastic $ 4 cup. Next time, I will probably avoid the specialty coffees and just stick with a cup of black coffee.

I’ve been to Cheapside a few times, but I really want to highlight one item on their menu that I tell everyone about. Oats. Oh em gee, their oats come with a crème brûlée sugar on top and that’s not even the cherry on top. You can get their maple cream to drizzle atop your oats and turn it into complete and utter heaven. Don’t get me wrong their menu in phenomenal and quite creative, BUT, there is nothing that warms the heart quite like their oats.

I passed it twice before I noticed it on the corner, it’s definitely hidden away. I also parked in a lot when I’m sure I could have found a parking spot on the street. I was a little flustered when I got there but reading the reviews helped(with silverwear and water you get at your own leisure). I had already looked at the menu, knowing I wanted to try a few things, I decided with the chorizo egg sandwich, a cup of tomato soup and an almond milk latte(they don’t have soy and only use whole milk otherwise). The sandwich was delicious. I can see what some people mean by greasy but it’s a ground up meat, of course it can get greasy, especially chorizos deliciousness. I have to disagree with the people who say that the size of this is small. I found it to be very filling, I barely got to eat my tomato soup! The ciabatta bread was so airy and fresh. I loved every bite. I didn’t leave hating myself as I would at any other breakfast/brunch place, because I always stuff my face. So the portion was just right. I can definitely see people that work downtown frequenting this place. It sure made me wish I worked downtown! I definitely will be back whenever I have another afternoon off to venture off!

This bright building with a timber teepee out front certainly commands attention, so I strolled in for breakfast one rainy morning hoping for some decadent comfort food and decent coffee. The menu was smaller than I had expected — comprised of just a few breakfast sandwiches, lunch options, basic coffee drinks, and a pastry of the day — but I was not disappointed. The open seating arrangements, breakfast bar, and ample windows give this café an expansive vibe which more than makes up for the simple menu. So, the menu: Yes, it is simple, but it is not basic. The smoked salmon breakfast sandwich comes on a deliciously salted marble rye bread, toasted to buttery perfection. It’s slathered in an herb cream cheese with pickled onions and thick slices of cucumber and salmon in every bite. It was easily one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever eaten, so I immediately regretted my initial disappointment about the menu. The limitless coffee was also delicious, and the staff didn’t bat an eye when I asked for my final dose of caffeine in a to-go cup. The prices are not low; my coffee and sandwich came out to about $ 15, but I was incredibly satisfied and will definitely be returning.

Cheapside is a cute breakfast and lunch restaurant located on 8th street close to the casino. This is one of those places that I had always wanted to try but as someone that doesn’t live or work in the city, I never think to come down for brunch. I would describe this place as ultra hipster. The inside has clean lines and is free of clutter. Looking on instagram I already knew to order a latte and yes, it was both beautiful and delicious. The menu is super limited(didn’t realize you couldn’t even order a standard breakfast) but their secret is their simplicity… That’s how you know it’s good. I enjoyed half of each breakfast sandwich and will say they were delicious in their own right. The chorizo sandwich was heartier than the standard. If you are famished I would suggest splitting a pastry or french toast with a pal, which I watched others do. Next time I’ll be trying brunch.

I love Cheapside! We need more cafes like this in Cincinnati. The aesthetic inside is hispter(but unpretentious), casual, and comfortable. Seating is a little tricky if you have more than 2 people, especially in the winter time. The spring and summer seasons are perfect for sitting outside and if you have lucky timing, sitting in the tepee! My favorite item on the menu is the breakfast sandwich — which is the best tasting $ 5.50 breakfast sandwich in Cincinnati. For lunch, I like pairing this with a side salad — I think that’s the perfect amount of food. My other favorite pick for lunch is the curried chicken salad, which seems to be a pretty popular item. The bread can almost be a bit too crusty sometimes, but I love it! The apples and red onions in the chicken salad are my favorite parts. I also enjoy the tomato soup and I’ve had the chorizo breakfast sandwich(which is huge!) and the pulled pork sandwich(also a lot of meat). The salads are always fresh and the espressos always pretty — perfect for instagramming. This is my go-to lunch spot downtown! I can’t stop coming here.

Wow, how have I never been here before? My new favorite go to for brunch. Atmosphere was cool and inviting. Service was efficient. My friends I showed up around 12:30 pm on a Saturday – prime busy time for brunch – and were in and out in 45 minutes. I got a latte and breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was outstanding. It had pimento cheese on it, which was such a great touch. Planning my next visit… now.

I’ve been wanting to try Cheapside for a while, and now I’m regretting all of those wasted breakfasts not coming here! Cheapside is amazing, and I have a feeling I’ll be coming back for more on the regular. Best part about Cheapside: they serve breakfast all day! I was here for lunch with a friend, but we were both craving breakfast so I got the chorizo breakfast sandwich and he got the challah french toast. Both were amazing, so I could go either way… if you’re feeling savory go for the sandwich, and if you want sweet I would highly recommend the french toast! The portion sizes are small-ish, but I’m ok with that because I think most places around town serve way too huge of a portion anyway. But if you’re hungry you will probably want to get at least a pastry on the side(or an order of french toast to split with your friend!). I got the unlimited drip coffee, and it was well-worth it. They also have pour overs and many different espresso drink options. The décor is super cute, and there’s a nice outdoor patio for when the weather is a little better. I love the design and the cute air plants on all of the tables. Service was fast, nice, and friendly. Order at the front and they will bring your food to you. This place is hip but not pretentious, and overall a real gem. I will be back!

It’s so amazing to find little gems like this in different cities! I like to pat myself on the back when I venture to great lengths(not really) and then are greatly rewarded! Cheapside was the perfect place for lunch! A good 15 minute walk(in 40 degree weather without a jacket or decent sweater) from the Hyatt where I was staying downtown, this was so worth the trip! Let’s start with food: Smoked salmon breakfast sandwich: holla! Hallelujah! Hhomnomnom! I was torn between the breakfast sandwich sans bacon and was advised this was better and of course, this is what I typically get for breakfast/brunch/lunch when available. It was great! I added a fried egg and switched the bread to multigrain(because it just sounded better). What a good choice! The salmon was better than expected for Ohio? Savory, not too salty, not the belly, but it was done pretty well. The cream cheese was awesome! It was like crème fraîche! Cucumbers were fresh(yes a small part but very important and can be ruined if you have crappy cukes — salmon is delicate!). The pickled chopped onions were also a good addition and not too brined. It all went so well together, I had a ten minute debate on whether to get another sandwich. I wasn’t even hungry at that point, just so I could save it for later! The bread: so so so good. They get it from sixteen bricks and if they sold it separately, you’d be sure i would have gotten a couple of loafs. Side salad: decently sized! If I wasn’t hungry, I could eat this on its own. Just some simple lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and croutons, but it was fresh and tasty. Almond milk latte: I had to warm up! It was good, the espresso tasted quite good and it was more coffee flavored than milked down — my style. The environment is great. It’s all white and seems pretty clean upon entering. Once you go past the kitchen, it’s a little more sketch. The kitchen itself doesn’t look great nor does the restroom and the creepy basement stairs. But that’s not that important. It’s not in the best neighborhood, as I’m sure I passed by 5 homeless people, including two standing right outside the restaurant. The guys who work there are super hipster/eclectic, but nice. For those of you in cincy who haven’t gone here, you should! And if you’re just visiting, make this a stop!

I’ve been wanting to visit this café for the longest time. I happen to have a day off and it wasn’t busy at all. I dined in before the lunch rush. You order at the counter, give your name and they bring your food to you. I got the Smoked Turkey which has bacon, swiss, hummus, cucumbers, on salted rye bread(toasted) for $ 8.50. I got a side of kettle chips. All was perfect! The sandwich wasn’t so gigantic, turkey is not processed and loved the hummus! Pricing to me is reasonable. It was so hard to choose whether I wanted a breakfast sandwich or lunch. I’ll just have to come back and try their breakfast! Service was friendly and fast. The café is not so huge, but it is spacious with simple décor. Loved it! I can’t wait to go back!

This is easily the most amazing place I have experienced in a really long time! I was less impressed with the oatmeal brulee but overwhelmed with everything else! Eating the french toast here must be on everyones’ bucket list. The espresso bar is on point. The herb garden and ambiance overall was so CUTE! the chorizo sandwhich was fab. My cortado was on point! I CANNOT wait to go back!

my husband and I stopped by Cheapside for a quick breakfast date. This place was a treat! Best breakfast sandwich I’ve had all year. I highly recommend the bacon egg and pimento cheese sandwich. The buttery, multigrain toast added the perfect texture and sealed the deal. It was served quickly and piping hot. The regular coffee was rich and tasty. I enjoyed The cream and sugar station with fresh dairy and raw sugar. I’m ready to go back to try the sparkling rhubarb soda and one of the lunch options. The feel of the place is the opposite of a dirty diner with a clean white and natural wood look. The quick, personal service is diner-like though. This is a neat little gem to have in our community. The prices seemed a little steep at first, but compared to other delis and sandwich places locally it’s fairly comparable. The menu items are unique, fresh and just more fun than your average chain.

DEAREVERYONE: STOPTHINKINGTHISPLACEISNAMEDCHEAPSIDEBECAUSEITISCHEAP! Why would someone name a businesses after their cheap prices? This is the name of the street the restaurant is located on. Phew. Now that THAT is out of the way… REASONSWHYTHISPLACEISAWESOME: They are open 7 days a week! 7am-4pm. They are tucked away in a hidden corner of the city so thankfully every time I have gone I have never had trouble finding a meter. They serve breakfast all day. I repeat They. Serve. Breakfast. Allllll Day. Yeah I know, I am not used to hearing those words either, but let that sink in for a moment. They are committed to supporting local products. They use Sixteen Bricks bread, they have Hen of the Woods house made soda! Yes, you heard that right. Usually a house made soda of the day for example: cucumber, or watermelon ginger and house made tonic. Snapple needs to take a seat, because this might actually be «the best stuff on earth.»
THEFOOD: I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, simple food is the often the most difficult to execute because you can’t hide behind anything when you only have 3 – 4 ingredients. And everything on Cheapside’s menu is designed to do just that — highlight simple fresh ingredients that when paired together make them sing. Which leads me to my next point… get the breakfast sandwich. A fried egg, bacon, and pimento cheese on multigrain bread. And some people ask me, well couldn’t you just make that at home? NO. The answer is no. You cannot. The combination of the perfectly cooked egg with the thick salty bacon, and the savory surprise of the pimento that sneaks up on you… wait what were we talking about again? I was just hallucinating that I was eating this. Bottom line. My favorite thing on the menu. Just get it. Other notable favorites: — Chorizo/Egg Sandwich: scrambled egg, chorizo, green chile, cheddar on Ciabatta. — Challah French Toast: candied pecans, whipped butter, maple syrup.(I’m not usually a sweet tooth but damn this dish is tasty.) — Whatever the pastry of the day is: and you won’t be able to resist because it will be staring at you in all of it’s glory on the cake stand right near the register. I had a piece of banana bread once that made me question every banana bread choice I have ever made up until that moment. THEATMOSPHERE: Clean, and minimal in the most beautiful way possible. Exactly like the food, the atmosphere reflects that simplistic philosophy. Small succulents grace each hand carved table and natural light seeps in through the big bay windows. And when it’s not slammed, it truly is therapeutic. Also huge win to whoever thought of putting USB ports at the bar! SERVICE: My only complaint about this place is that sometimes the service is confusing. So newbs take note, you order at the register, you get your water, utensils etc. then wait for your food at your table. When that comes, you sometimes do a little dance, like do I get my own refill? Do you bring me a knife if I forgot to grab one? Sometimes they will be overly nice and bring it and other times you are confused on what to do. Even after coming as many times as I have it still depends on who’s working if I get served more than just a food drop off or not. I’ve also had an experience when they completely lost my ticket all together and it wasn’t until the kitchen was literally shutting down that I asked if they were going to make my order and the chef explained to the cashier that he never received a ticket and then she explained that she gave it to him etc. They were more than apologetic and it wasn’t a big deal, but is important for me to note that service isn’t always 100% here. 5 stars for the food & atmosphere –1 star for the inconsistent service. A solid 4 stars.
