The milling machine industry helped rocket Cincinnati to it’s prominence as the Queen City of the West back in the 1800s; one of the most important businesses was called Cincinnati Milling Machine Co. The company invented many mechanical machines that helped speed work during the Industrial Revolution, including lathes, boring mills, centerless grinders, and radial drills. Although Cincinnati Milling Machine was around until the 1970s, many of its original machines are still in use today, both in corporations and personal woodworking shops. Enter Cincinnati Machine. This company sells spare parts for the old milling machines, many of which are custom fit or unavailable elsewhere on the market. It’s wonderful that this business is not only helping restore some of the highest quality foundry mechanics ever produced, they are also preserving a piece of Cincinnati history.
