Every Christmas Story Ever Told was a charming and funny look at all of your Christmas Classics wrapped into one 90 minute story. Not for youngsters, but more of a PG rated side of the holidays. Highly recommended, lots of laughs and fun!

Just saw Death of a Salesman. It was so compelling, The venue is so comfortable and you feel like you are in the show. Not a bad seat in the house. The service is excellent. Everyone is very friendly. This is an experience you don’t want to miss.

Stuck in Cincinnati by a cancelled Valentine’s Day flight home, I needed something good to do other than watch tv in my hotel room. Luckily I found these folks and saw the opening night performance of Rosenkrantz and Gildenstern Are Dead. At first I thought «oh no… Regional theater…» I was wrong!
The theater is intimate but not at all cramped. Seats quite comfortable. And the ensemble entertained greatly with a very enjoyable performance. Do go see these folks. You won’t regret it.

Classical theater can be tough on performers and audiences alike. CSC provides Cincinnati with such a unique niche of performance with a troupe of legitimate entertainers from around the country.
That said, I’m not sure classical theater is my thing. I still find myself yawning a bit as the unabridged monologues run on and on. I hope that they add drinks to the intermission in the future.
However, If classical theater is your thing, you gotta check out the CSC.

My most recent venture to the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company was to see their production of To Kill a Mockingbird. Every production I’ve seen there has always been well acted. The sets are always well done. I especially admire the willingness of the actors to do absolutely any job to make everything flow smoothly. I’ve seen Sara Clark act in major roles and minor roles, sell concessions, make announcements, answer phones, take tickets and handle monetary transactions for traveling school productions. Every member of the company is a team player that works for the success of the whole. And it works. To Kill a Mockingbird was sold out — a testament to how a small theater company can succeed in Cincinnati.

Living within a few blocks from the CSC, I’ve always felt a bit bad about not checking it out. Surely I’m more cultured than that, right? So I discovered they were putting on The Hound of the Baskervilles and tried to organize a day with my friends. Given that there was a week left, I failed. A few days later I decided to go, anyway, but they’d sold out by then.
Fortunately I happened to walk by this morning 20 minutes before showtime. I decided to see if any tickets were left available, and was told to wait and I could likely be accomodated. They came through, and I ended up with two wonderful seats (I’d argue the two best in the house, though there are no bad seats.) I’m very appreciative to the gracious host that assisted us.
The play was a delight. The actors were a delight. Everything was a delight.
They can consider me a fan. I won’t miss another production — it’s well worth the two hours I gave them. A true gem in the city. Perhaps I shouldn’t judge them on one production, but it truly was that good (though, to the guy walking out complaining that this farcical production was an insult to the good Sir Arthur Conan Doyle — let me respectfully disagree. This was fantastic.)

God, I love CSC. I’ve gone to four productions now, and I’ll definitely be buying a subscription for next season. Every play has been flawless, and even the denser material is enjoyable with their charming cast. The customer service is excellent as well. I’ve had to reschedule a couple of times, and they were always really cool about moving my tickets. Oh, for AAA members, always check to see whether or not AAA is a design sponsor for any given show. They sponsored The Grapes of Wrath and tickets were half off for members.

I’ve never seen a «just average» production by Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, and I’ve seen quite a few, ranging from Shakespearean favorites such as «The Merchant of Venice» to non-​Shakespeare rep like «Sense and Sensibility» or «Dracula.» The regular cast is fantastic, the venue is intimate and without a bad seat, and their range of repertoire means even someone who *isn’t* a Shakespeare fan can find something (Grapes of Wrath? The Importance of Being Earnest?) that they’ll enjoy.
Truly one of the best theater companies in this wonderful, arts-​laden city!

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company is one of my favorite theaters in the city. You might be afraid of going to a theater that specializes in classic plays and literature, but I promise, you’ll love it. The Shakespeare plays are all done with a fun twist like having them set in WWII or the 70’s. Even if you can’t always tell what they are saying you know what’s going on because the acting is consistently excellent.
The space is excellent, the cast is excellent and the productions are always great. I highly recommend it for great, classic plays with a twist.

I have been trying to see a production at this company for a couple years, yes, years!
I had the unexpected pleasure of my boyfriend surprising me with tickets. This is a small theater venue that seats about 100, but they productions are still larger then life.
As for the production we got see, it was a modern interpretation of Macbeth, but it could have been a past twig and berry interpretation. The cast was just amazing! I can review the cast, because this is a repertory company so you will see many of the same talented folks in other productions. Shakespeare is hard to understand for some folks, but this company always make sure that the plays message is clear and current even if the words are dated.
I would strongly recommend visiting this company and checking out the cast and venue.
Also make note, even though Shakespeare is in the title, they do mostly classics which isn’t always old English.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company never misses a beat! I’ve seen Shakespeare plays and other classics such as Dracula or Oscar Wilde plays at this theatre, and I’ve never been disappointed. They have a great ability to revitalize stories that we’ve all heard and seen many times, and they make sure to produce the works in accessible ways (even for simpletons like me!).
This theatre is a great night out for people of all ages. I’d feel as comfortable going there with my family as much as I would with my friends.

I’ve now seen four productions by Cincy Shakes, and I have loved them all. But this update is particularly in order to point out that the summer Cincy Shakespeare in the Park is not to be missed. I saw «A Midsummer Night’s Dream» at Vinoklet Vineyards last weekend, and it was stupendous. The setting was gorgeous, but what got me most was the innovative staging of the play (with only six actors!), the excellent props and costuming, and that trademark Cincy Shakes hilarity. While I’m looking forward to seeing more mainstage productions this year, I am just as excited about next summer’s Park series.

If you haven’t gone to one of the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company’s productions, you are certainly missing out! They are wonderful. I enjoy them much more than the touring Broadway shows. These actors are much more enjoyable and you can tell they love their craft. All the shows I have seen over the years have been amazing. I encourage you to find out for yourself, it is well worth it!
I must admit confess I did frequent it much more often in my college days, but have missed it tremendously. I went with a group of friends to see their latest production of «Much Ado About Nothing» which was set in a 1960’s hippie commune and it was fabulous. «Much Ado» is my favorite Shakespeare play and this version didn’t let me down. I completely enjoyed it.
It’s a very small, intimate theatre, with minimal sets, which adds to the ambiance. It looks just like a normal store front, but once you get inside, it’s a whole other world, no seriously! They do other works as well, not just Shakespeare. You can catch «Frankenstein» or «Dracula» for example around Halloween. I have a feeling my boyfriend is going to be seeing «Pride and Prejudice» in February. :)

The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company is one of the city’s best kept secrets. It’s not located in a big theater, nor could you even tell there is a theater there by glancing by it. The company is located on Garfield and Race. I found out about the company when I moved in around the corner. I thought to myself, a theater practically in the same building as my apartment? I must go sometime. I have now gone twice and have enjoyed myself immensely.
The company does both Shakespeare and non-​Shakespeare written plays. I have attended productions of Othello and Dracula and both were very well done. Both were preview performances, but I’m no theater expert so if there were any mistakes or differences between that and the normal productions I did not notice.
The theater itself isn’t very fancy and is fairly non descript. Basically a medium sized black box type of theater. As a tall person one thing I definitely approve of is there is plenty of leg room which can’t be said about many of the local theaters (I’m looking at you Taft) and the seats are comfortable. However it was a touch too warm during the production of Dracula but not enough so that it bothered me.
If you are looking for a night out away from the television or the latest Hollywood blockbuster, or looking for somewhere that performs top notch classic theatre, I recommend visiting the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.

I saw Othello with a friend at the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company in early 2010 and loved it!
he stage is very small, which I’m not used to viewing, and the set changes were strange (not much change, but you could hear it all). I was also slightly put off (at first) to the fact the costumes were more like that of 1920s-​1940s fashion, which definitely took a while to get used to. We had seats in the 2^nd row, but during the intermission I heard some people talking about how they couldn’t hear any actors other than Othello and Iago from their seats in the last few rows.
What made me love the show was the great acting by the majority of the actors. The actor playing Othello was amazing… AMAZING! I didn’t much care for the actress playing Desdemona, but the actor who was Iago was awesome!
I’ll definitely be back for more shows in the future.

Good, interesting productions, and not just Shakespeare. The acting is always good often great. Sets and costumes are always interesting. I enjoy going — Im a season subrsciber

I just saw a performance this evening of «Amadeus» by Peter Shaffer, and it was phenomenal!
I knew a few actors in the cast and recognized some of their resident actors. They were all great, they embodied all of the characters excellently. I was on the edge of my seat almost the entire show.
I will be back for more!
The next show I’m excited about seeing is Tom Stoppards new version of Anton Chekov’s «The Seagull».

Shakespeare isn’t exactly synonymous with midwestern America, but the players and directors of this troupe have snatched a slice of Stratford for the Queen City. Housed in a converted movie theater, the CSC focuses on Shakespeare but also draws from other classic dramatists like Tennessee Williams, Eugene O’Neill, and Samuel Beckett. And that’s just this current season. CSC is working through the entire Shakespearean canon, but that doesn’t mean they won’t revisit popular (and superior) titles; they’ve staged A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet, and Julius Caesar multiple times.
The theater itself is regularly evolving. They recently renovated the lobby area. They used to have seats on the stage which were amazingly uncomfortable. It’s now a more standard layout, and the seats are well-​padded, which will suit your buns quite well for the two hours’ passage.
The productions are relatively faithful to the texts and not often interpreted in overly radical ways, though they have done the historical re-​setting of some plays: Henry V in WWI, The Taming of the Shrew as a western. The more straightforward presentations are best; the actors are all excellent and work well when simply dramatizing the original text. Many have settled into Cincinnati and become staples: Jeremy Dubin, Giles Davies, Brian Isaac Phillips, and Corinne Mohlenhoff have all been main players for nearly a decade. This consistency has really strengthened the company, which shows in strong on-​stage rapport.
Bottom line: this is the best classic theater in town, and one of the best Shakespeare companies in the region. A true asset and fixture to the city.
