Interesting place. Food first of all is limited, bad choice if you don’t like seafood or one of the 30 items on their menu that includes scallops, salmon, tilapia, chicken and one beef dish. The crowd is generally over 40⁄50 so seems like a good place to bring your parents when they’re in town. The food is yummy but nothing to write home about. Ambiance is interesting but not worth a repeat trip.

I wish I liked this place more because of the location and atmosphere. However, I feel like the menu needs to be refreshed. It is stuck in the 90’s and nothing sounds that great or tastes good enough to bring me back.

My 2 friends and I ate dinner here Tuesday night, the first time here for 2 of us. The building is interesting, and the inside was nice. You go up stairs or a ramp to enter, and up another steep flight to use the Ladies Room(I asked about ADA compliance and was told that«they use the Men’s Room»). My one friend has Celiac disease and can NOT eat wheat/grains, and she is also lactose intolerant and can not eat dairy, so she had called ahead to find out it there was anything she could eat. She also asked the waitress a few questions, and the waitress did try her best to find out the answers although she seemed a bit put out. When my friends spinach salad came, she was dismayed to find it had cheese on top(that she had to scrape off). I also do not eat dairy, wheat or meat, for serious health reasons, and I had also called the chef ahead of time to ask about my options. He said that they would try to make what I wanted if they had the ingredients on hand. When eating out I usually can find enough side dishes to order to make a meal, HOWEVER this restaurant does NOT list sides on the menu, so we again had to quiz the waitress, who was tiring of all this but tried to be helpful. She did not know what the prices of sides would be, so I ended up ordering the pork chop meal because the sides sounded good, and I had the pork chop put in a to go back to take home for my husband. The mushroom and onions side was VERY good and I wished that I could have had a bigger portion. The veggies and potatoes were OK. Needless to say, we will not be back here, when we can find more accommodating restaurants who are happy to even make special items for us — one restaurant even went out and bought quinoa so they could make us a quinoa salad(the Grove Park Grill).

Restored school building from the 1800s, near history and simple but good menu. I ordered off the summer specials a Mexican chicken dish. It was actually very good(even though the waitress asked how I wanted my chicken cooked!!! Um done!) grilled and sliced chicken over a bed of black beans and rice with peppers and chilies and covered and baked with melted cheese on top. The seasoning was good and not overly spicy. The people I was with both had the pork chop which was thick cut and grilled and had generous side of potatoes and veggies. Monday is ½ price wine night. Score! I understand the family that owns the restaurant lives upstairs above the restaurant, just contributed to the European pub feel. Solid restaurant in a nice setting.

Just a wonderful experience, day in and day out. It’s like your one of the family as soon as you walk in door.

My husband and I went here using our Foodie Cincy card deck. The description was pretty accurate. We immediately noticed a lot of grey hair and thought the menu would follow suit. Luckily we were wrong. We each had a local craft beer on draft and shared the Cajun seafood pasta and grilled tilapia tacos. We sat outside on the deck that backs up to a nice wooded area. Very quaint and peaceful. The pricing is affordable too.

Food was too expensive, not good for kids. Yes, our child is well behaved. This was a number of years ago. It was like eating with the dead.

We can always count on a good meal and very friendly service at Clough Crossings and tonight was no exception. Finding out that Monday is half-price wine night was an added bonus to our dinner out with family. The pork chop was juicy and tender and well-accompanied by the garlic mashed potatoes. My sister-in-law raved over the rainbow trout almondine, which filled her plate with plenty to share. MaryAnn was so kind to my 92-year-old mother-in-law and even brought her a piece of pie– on the house! Thanks again for another memorable dinner!

This the best cozy and friendly restaurant and bar in the East side of Cincinnati! Never had a bad meal & we have been there at least a dozen times & plan to visit them again soon, if you don’t want a full meal try their Pulled Pork sandwich!

Every single waiter there is so friendly, competent, and professional. They remember you and your preferences and we love that they e-mail us daily specials. Clough Crossings has great atmosphere, people, quality, and value. I cannot recommend it enough.

Nice family owned business in an charming home. Lots of character like we were sitting in a big library with a fireplace. We had crab cakes with roumalade sauce and a tasty salad with salmon on top. The salad had walnuts and pastachios and fruit. All tables were given homemade rolls. Each day they have specials along with desert specials like key lime pie, peanut butter pie and blackberry cobbler. Service was excellent and since we had to get to a show they sped our order right through. Definitely beats the chains. Give it a try!

Meh. Only good thing is the bat upstairs. Atmosphere in the restaurant tries to be upscale, but food is just average. Clientele is older generation, and it just feels like a 70’s country club dining room. The building and location are great… Just wish it was more memorable and ‘fun’. Not for bringing kids! I may enjoy it more in 20 years.

I love this place. Have been going there maybe once a year for the past several. I consider it a «special occasion» place, however you will find what appear to be regulars there in the bar every time. And yes, as another reviewer mentioned, if you are under 40 you will feel like a kid here… but don’t let that deter you. Have had many things on the menu and have really loved it all. Made New Year’s reservations last year — got seated probably 45 minutes later than the reservation, but as the owner pointed out, it’s really hard to tell how long people are going to linger at their table — especially on a holiday. Wait staff has always been very friendly and knowledgable. Great place for a date. The building has history, the menu has diversity. I have yet to sit on the patio but I am sure it’s nice out there in the spring and fall.

My husband requested that I title this post«The Dinner Jacket Version Of Bill Knapp’s.» Mediocre food, at best, with a indifferent service staff. To be honest, I should have known better. We tried to go 3 different times to use our groupon, and if we didn’t need to use the groupon, we would happily have skipped this based on rude customer service alone. Attempt number 1 to get a table was met with the presumed owner/manager literally turning his back on us and walking away because we could not make a decision on whether we’d like to wait 60+ minutes for a table in less than 3 seconds. Attempt number 2 started with the question«I was wondering if I could make put my name in for a table at 7:30?» This should not be met with a simple«no ma’am.» No ma’am, what? You don’t take reservations? There’s no tables at 7:30? I realize that«no ma’am» is technically a valid answer to the question, but probably not the one you’d want to be your first impression to a customer that isn’t one of your geriatric regulars or close friends. By the time we went back for try #3, we waited our 45 minutes to be seated(and overheard the owner telling everyone about the groupon causing the waits), my husband and I remembered why we hadn’t been back in 8 years. Truly mediocre food, ridiculous prices, and poor service. He had the«special» pulled pork sandwich – a normal-sized sandwich, served with a handful or foodservice fries and a scoop of coleslaw for $ 11. I had the Citrus salmon salad. At $ 16, I expect a bit more than underseasoned, overcooked salmon and a fistful of random toppings on iceberg and romaine mix. Boring dressing, boring toppings(bell pepper, carrot, raisins, canberries, and canned mandarin oranges), and boring fish. For $ 16. No drink refills, no attempt to offer any of the upsells that you expect from a restaurant. Our bill was brought before we were done, and nobody asked about dessert. And here’s where things leave the rails. We ask for a dessert menu, figuring that we haven’t spent the $ 40 yet. Our server tells us that only 2 of the desserts are homemade. Do you really, really want your customers to know this? I mean, I suppose honesty is the best policy, but I think most people who go to a small, non-chain, independently owned restaurant would like to at least keep up the illusion that the prices they’re paying are for a homemade product. Most of us know this is not the reality, but to point out that you’re potentially going to consume something that came out of a box is not the way to get that dessert sold. Nonetheless, we plow ahead. We order a piece of the homemade key lime pie. Oh wait… no…they’re out. On a Thursday. They’re out of one of two of their homemade desserts. When we try again, they’re out of the chocolate cake too. Awesome. So we call it a day and put that groupon in with the check, which totals $ 32.50ish(for a bbq sandwich, a salad, and 2 cokes, remember…). Well, our server rather abruptly says that we cannot use the groupon unless we spend $ 40. I correct her, saying that there’s no stipulation on this groupon that says we must spend a minumum of $ 40, but that groupon’s policy is that you cannot get cash back for the unused balance of a groupon. Well, she’s literally not going to take our bill until we spend $ 40, no matter how many times I tell her that it’s not in the fine print that was obviously specific to this deal(couldn’t use it on 5/8, must buy a food item). We order two desserts(to go) that we now know are not homemade(and they wouldn’t have fooled us for 10 seconds anyway), bring the bill up to $ 45, pay, and leave. Yes, we left her a tip. It’s not her fault that the owner/manager s not interested in honoring the terms of his deal. Advice to restaurant owners considering doing a groupon deal. If you can’t meet the demand, lower the number of certificates you’re willing to offer. And if you ever want people to come back again, you probably don’t want to invoke a lot of rules about using it that were not included in the original deal. So, the TL;DR version is that the food is pretty meh, regardless of how much it costs, but the cost is another unattractive feature. The owner’s captive audience of AARP members will keep him afloat, but to consider this anything more than a vanity project of a restaurant would be a sham.

Visited here last night for the first time to use a Groupon. Food was excellent, especially the seafood choices. At our table, we had an avocado shrimp wrap, Cajun seafood fettuccine and the daily special(pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and veggies). Also a bowl of shrimp bisque. Jill was our server and she was both efficient and helpful with suggestions/questions about dishes. Because it was very crowded(we tried to call ahead but I guess they let the phone roll to an answering machine), we were quoted an 1.5 hour wait. Not a problem. We sat in the bar area which was is bright, with lots of windows overlooking an outside waiting area. Parking lot seemed small, at least on this busy night. At the bar, we ordered the loaded potatoes appetizer because the several others at the bar were enjoying them. My son described them as an upscale version of potato skins or other bar appetizer. They were sliced/quartered and then smothered with bacon, cheese and sour cream. Yummy! Beer on tap selection was limited this night, maybe due to the excessive crowed. We would have enjoyed sitting on what looked to be a spacious outside deck, but didn’t ask since the wait was so long. We only waited about an hour and the host came to find us as promised. The portion sizes were generous and we each brought some of our dinners home. About the Groupon, another patron at the bar mentioned that it was especially crowded this night due to the coupon expiration date(next day). Hadn’t ever given this any thought… at purchase, we’re all issued the same expiration date, so might be a heads up to not wait until the last week or so to use one unless you don’t mind a wait.

I took my parents here because I knew they would enjoy the food and the attentive staff, but also because it is a nice atmosphere where we could have a conversation without having to raise our voices to hear each other. It’s hard to find restaurants that do not have blaring televisions or piped in music(there is a separate bar area and I haven’t stepped in there so there might be tvs in there in). The three of us had a chicken cordon bleu sandwich, soup, bbq bacon burger, fish sandwich, onion rings and derby pie and everything was delicious and filling! If you’re in the area or looking for a nice place to take your parents or grandparents for dinner(they’re not open for lunch), I’d check out Clough Crossing.

First, a disclaimer… The clientele at this bar/restaurant tends to be on the northern side of 50 years old. But don’t let that deter you. The food and staff are fantastic. The food: This is my parents’ favorite restaurant and I’ve joined them dozens of times there for meals. I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad meal here. The food is consistently above average and always quick. I love the chicken wings, they are grilled and kinda crispy yet still very juicy. They also have a daily special that the chef prepares. The staff: Top notch. Quick, friendly, knowledgable… ’nuff said. The atmosphere: It’s in an old schoolhouse on Clough Pike and definitely still has some of that feel to it. For example, once you enter the front door you’re in a vestibule with stairs and the door to the dining area. You’ll notice that the door handle seems awfully low. That’s because it was put lower so that the school children could easily open and close the door. Pretty cool that some of the original schoolhouse charm still shines through. Don’t let the old-timers deter you, think of them as wise sages who have scoured Anderson Township and settled on Clough Crossing as one of the best restaurants in the area.

Easily the best neighborhood restaurant around Anderson. Food is routinely prepared well and reasonably priced. They have an outdoor patio when it’s nice, a more casual bar area and a little bit old-school dining room. They don’t have a formal kid’s menu for some reason, but they do make several kids dishes. *Update — there’s been a recent fire, they’re currently closed
