Danbarry Dollar Saver

I would rather wait for Redbox or Netflix or borrow a movie from the library than go here again. It’s not even worth the $ 3. The whole place is falling apart including the parking lot. For $ 2 more I can go to Rave Western Hills on a Tuesday. Too many other better options than to waste my time with this place.

This theater has some of the cheapest movie times around. I believe it only costs 3 dollars for a movie and cheaper on Tuesdays! The movies they have are typically a bit close to being released on video, but as I never seem to get to see them before it works out perfectly for me! If I remember right they don’t take credit for the movie tickets so it’s not a bad idea to bring cash.
While I do love this place, I can’t give it more than 4 stars because a lot of the time it is pretty dirty. They sweep up alright, but it just has that feel like it needs to carpeting and probably new seats in the theater. Also the parking lot is a mess and needs to be repaved. But the movies are so cheap I love going and will keep going back regularly!

Well… you get what you pay for! If you want a VERY cheap movie this is the place for you. Twice we went and twice there was no heat in a theater and we froze. Like REALLY froze.
It’s ok. It is what it is.

My update is — This theater is now a ‘dollar saver’ once again. I guess the $ 10 first run thing didn’t work out for them. So get this, I thought that since they became first run for a year or so that they must have made some amazing improvements inside. Nada. I haven’t noticed one. But yeah, they are a dollar saver again. Two bad they were on the news a few weeks ago for an attempted robbery (obviously, of no fault of their own); now I don’t know how ‘safe’ I feel at this theater. I will save my money for Rave ‘discount days’. I just wanted to update that if you are looking for a Dollar Saver, this location is one again which is awesome.

At Danbarry Dollar Saver you can see second run movies cheap instead of paying tons of money to see it at the first run theater you can see it several weeks or several months later. The only thing I dislike is the seats are in terrible, terrible shape the floor always looks like it hasn’t been mopped in forever but what do I expect it is a second run theater after all!

First off… don’t use Google Maps to try to find this place… second off, good luck finding it. There’s absolutely no signage, and its back down a road at least a mile from Glenway Crossing… Behind Target and past Buffalo Wild Wings behind the storage facility. Seriously… you’ll start wondering if this place even exists!
But once you do find it its big, inconspicuous, and has plenty of parking as its out by itself. Once you walk in… well. its dated. Very dated, is the best way to put it. But the movies are cheap (they’ve now reverted back to the 2^nd run cheap movies), snacks are decently priced, and the theaters are small and cozy. Seriously, they’re small enough a movie could sell out. There’s maybe 20 rows in some of the smaller theaters.
It’s dark, it’s kinda dirty, but its cheap, and worth the money. I mean… you get what you pay for right? Oh and this seems to be babysitter central. Tons of kids and preteens with seemingly little to no supervision in sight. Just beware of that.

For a cheap movie this is a good place to go. It has a few draw backs though. If you didn’t how to get to this place and were using a GPS good luck you won’t find it. It did have a lot of teenage kids around and if you are going to a movie that they would like it could be loud and annoying. Other than that it’s cheap so what else could you ask for.

I used to enjoy going to the Danbarry to see second-​run movies more cheaply when I might be off of work and wanted something to do. I liked the $ 3 ticket prices, and even though it was a worn old theater that mainly loud teenagers would go to, I could live with that for $ 3 tickets.
However, they have now «converted» the Danbarry into a first-​run theater with expensive tickets to go along with it, and they haven’t bothered to renovate the theater to justify this change. It is still cash-​only, and still looks the same — worn out, haggard, run-​down, and dirty, and the parking lot of the building (which is in behind a shopping development and out of the way) is not well lit. The only change (other than showing first-​run films and jacking up the prices) is that they got a new sign out front. I now avoid this theater at all costs.

When you’re not sure how you’re going to like a movie, why pay $ 10 a ticket?
$ 3 per ticket (or $ 1.75 on Tuesdays) is a great deal, but expect to get what you paid for: a screen with some holes and tears, no stadium seating, all in a sub-​par retro facility. But, this is all the same regardless of which of the Danbarry theaters you visit.
What bothered me about this specific location is how impossible it was to find. My GPS directed me to a neighborhood that was on the other side of a school from the series of strip malls the theater is located near. We drove around for at least 10 minutes trying to find the road to access it. The building is located at the end of an access road, hidden behind a wall of foliage. Maybe they should put up a sign so it is easier for us to find!

I love going to the movies, but I certainly don’t enjoy paying $ 8 – 9 a ticket like you will at most movie theaters. So, instead of seeing movies when they’re first released, I typically wait until the second-​run. For only $ 3 a ticket (or $ 1.75 on Tuesdays), I can see the same movie that many paid three times as much for. Maybe the theater isn’t as clean or the seats aren’t as comfortable, but the movie is the same. I don’t know about the snack bar, but I’d assume that’s where they make their money.
One small problem though. The theater was FREEZING cold. Perhaps management turned the AC on & we just happened to be there on an unusually cold weekend in March, but I couldn’t wait to get to the car & turn on the heat.
