I purchase very little from this store because I just can’t afford too. The cost of one Granny Smith apple here can get you three at Kroger’s or five at Aldi’s. The problem is getting to those other stores and that basically is the only thing that keeps this IGA location on seemingly surefootedness. Since it is the only grocer in probably a one mile radius, it is the only game in town for the Deer Park, Silverton, parts of Blue Ash and Amberley Village communities and Dillionvale IGA knows this and feels no pressure to truly compete. Why should it when it’s accessible to the bedroom community that surrounds it and can get there and get back home during the commercials! Customer service: Not great, not horrible. Very stand off-ish unless you’re a regular they know or, if they think you’re there with a larcenous heart. I can’t remember ever being asked if I needed assistance but, I can recall a few times asking for it and it was if I had an extra eye or two heads in that, they seemed to want to get it over with and away from me as quickly as possible. Some are friendlier than others(the Deli dept. crew are wonderful always) but that said, all seem to know their jobs. There doesn’t appear to have a lot of turnover which is good and they have a relatively diverse crew. Products: I stick to a few items in which they are nearly exclusive in this area such as Gerber Chicken(Jungle Jim’s also sells the brand) and periodically there are other items that may be on sell with a comparable price. I love the store’s convenience the most but I just can’t afford to do any major shopping there and I will never understand a business settling for that. Ok, you’ve got a comfort level achieved by having steady foot traffic that allows for a basic bottomline to be met but, this location has the potential to increase sells exponentially simply by being competitive. Consumers would much rather save gas driving to Dillionvale for a similar price than waste money thinking they’ll break even by going elsewhere.

Sometimes I honestly wonder why I keep going into this store. Maybe it is the blue bags that they give you at check out, I don’t know. This place is sky high, but I you are in and out in a heartbeat most days. honestly that has to be the reason. There are a few employees that can stand to go and get some training as to how to be professional. I was in line and the woman in front on my had to put her stuff back because she couldn’t find her credit card and the cashier was talking nasty about her because she has a salad from the salad bar and it now had to be thrown away. How rude! It is part of her job to throw things away and put things away. The woman kept trying to get her attention to ask her what she should do with it, but at the time she was busy chatting it up with another employee. I don’t think that I have been back in there ever since. So if you only need a few things stop in as long as you bring your means of purchase or they will talk nasty about you too, I guess. Beware of the high prices though.
