My fiancé and I are both horror junkies, and I’ve been wanting to write a feature story about Halloween attractions in/around Cincinnati for my blog, so I called these guys up and asked about a press pass. When we arrived, the volunteer coordinator gave us a lengthy interview before sending us to the front of the line. They were short-staffed, but terrifying even so. The cast and staff are 100% volunteers, but you wouldn’t know it from the quality of the performances. It reminded me a lot of the haunted house we went to in Salem this time last year, but this one was SO much better. The haunted house is in its 21st year, and is totally not-for-profit. All of the proceeds go to the Anderson Food Bank and Delhi Police Explorers — teenagers interested in joining the force who apprentice with the local PD. Tickets are $ 10, or $ 8 if you bring a canned good donation for the food drive. These guys are great. Most of the volunteers come back year after year, and they really know their stuff. Fans come back every year to see their favorite characters, and to find what new horrors lie in store. I plan to bring my kid brother for one of their Lights On tours, and definitely plan to come back for the Zombie Horde — the last tour of each night, where the whole cast follows you through the house and chases you all the way back to your car(by request only!). Definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to get into the Halloween spirit and support a good cause. Come give these guys a donation and have the scariest night of your life!
