I visited Gattle’s during the Montgomery Holiday Open House, seeing that it was listed on Unilocal as a lingerie store. I was thinking I had stumbled upon another Knickers of Hyde Park. Not quite… unless you’re Grandma looking for bloomers. The«lingerie» selection here includes a room full of long nightgowns. You know the type: floor-length with a conservative collar and nothing that anyone under 60 would consider buying. Disappointed, I continued to browse the rest of the store. The other 90% of Gattle’s is stocked with homegoods: custom monogrammed dishtowels, bath towels, place mats, and bedding sets. They also have gifts like rubber kitchen gloves with fur wrist lining. Or lotions and candles. Very, very expensive lotions and candles. $ 48 for an 8 ounce candle? That’s way too much for something so small. Most of the products I viewed were imported from London or France, which explains the high prices. There were a lot of nice smelling items which I would have bought had they been half… well, two-thirds of the price. Have kids to shop for? This is a perfect place for Grandma to buy the grandkids something unique. There are all sorts of clothes and toys for the luxurious toddler. These are definitely special occasion items and mirror the prices of the candles. I did like how Gattle’s has color swatches and examples of all their customizable bed and bath goods. This is definitely the place if you’re looking for fine linens. Older, wealthy ladies will adore this niche shop. Unfortunately, it was just a little too pricey for me.

Évaluation du lieu : 5 Cincinnati, OH
Gattle’s in Montgomery is a very Hyde Park-esque store, so it came as no surprise when I found out its original Cincinnati location was indeed in Hyde Park. Since 1904, Gattle’s has been the home of «fine linens,» and they also have locations in Naples, Fla. and Petoskey, Mich. The Cooper Road store has fine bed, bath, and table linens, as well as women’s sleepwear and an array of gift options. One of the main product lines I first noticed they have a lot from was MacKenzie-Childs, known for its tableware and home furnishings, while I also saw Sferra and Pine Cone Hill(luxury bedding and fine linens). If you are looking to add some expensive, yet high quality items to your home, then Gattle’s is the right store. They have place mats and many dining room set ups to choose from, towel sets, night gowns and robes, magnifying mirrors, fancy soaps, bedding and beds, and even a baby section filled with blankets, shoes, hats, sweaters, and bibs. I also saw a lot of monogrammed items, always great for gifts, and even dog purses(dog shaped, not actually for dogs), and handkerchiefs – yeah, handkerchiefs, because only upscale stores would actually sell those, right? Although the prices are generally high, there are a lot of very fine products and they did happen to have a sale going on when I stopped in with my mother. It is a really nice store from one wall to the other, and it even smelled really good too. Definitely stop in if you are looking for nice linens, bedding, or dining room items, or just looking for a generous and impressive gift.
