Had never been here before last weekend, and I must say, it was an interesting experience! I had realized this was a grocery, but was unaware it was a smaller, easier-to-shop, Sam’s Club. Almost a Sam’s Club Aldi’s… Definitely a great place to stock up on large quantities of foodstuffs. Need a fifty-count of tiny potato chip bags? Fifty-count of hot dogs? A three-pound tub of cookie dough? Throw in a couple of restaurant-quality kitchen accessories(aprons, ladles, big wooden spoons), and you’re at GFS. Not super busy, but well-organized. Friendly staff definitely helped make this a place I would consider going back to.

Located on Montgomery Rd in the plaza near Identity Salon, Mcallisters Deli and Buffalo Wings. Gordon Food Service is North America’s largest family-owned broadline foodservice distributor. Foodservice product offering includes everything from quality meat, seafood, and dairy to fresh produce, bakery, and tabletop supplies. Selling family and national brands from Jimmy Dean, Bob Evans, Nestle, General Mills, Maxi Poultry, etc. They offer distinctive products for every menu need and customer taste – from fine dining, family restaurants, quick-service and catered events, to authentic ethnic cuisine and foodservice programs for healthcare and education. This particular location has a good selection. I had to pick up a 3 lb cream cheese(make cheesecake) which cost $ 7.79. Pricing reasonable. Quick check out, friendly service, organized/clean store, knowledgable staff. If you sign up and give them your email, you receive discounts and coupons.

We shop GFS when we’re shopping for our fund raising events. I like the fact that there is no membership fee but I don’t know, their prices went up this year and I’m thinking they went up enough to get a guest pass to sam’s to do a little comparison. My husband likes the fact that they offer the large bags of cubbed cheese, making life so much easier when feeding a large amount of people. Staff is usually outgoing.

GFS isn’t giving us a new concept. Just about everybody buys«in bulk» nowadays. GFS is just doing it a little better. I shop here all the time when I need to cook for a large crowd(say, along the lines of a family party, a church event, etc.), but I also shop here for myself at home. GFS has competitive prices when you compare them to the larger buy-in-bulk stores, but I just feel like GFS is a little more accesible. The one thing I like too, is that even though you’re buying a REALLY large package of something, they offer smaller sizes than Cost Co or Sam’s Club, so you don’t have to feel overwhelmed, and you save money. You won’t find big name brands at GFS, but they have a good in-house brand. I’ve only had good experiences at this store, and I hope you do too.

GFS is like a Sam’s Club or Costco, but without the membership price. The food comes mostly in bulk and seems like a great place for a restaurant to stock up. They also had things like serving utensils and to-go plastic containers. The folks that worked there were super friendly and helpful. The cashier greeted every one that walked in and thanked every one leaving. The store was clean and well organized. The prices were reasonable for what I was looking for, frozen veggies for soup and frozen fruit for my morning smoothie. I’ll be back when I need to cook for a big group or when my freezer is cleared out again!
