Half Price Books

I go in at least once a month and buy at least 5 – 10 books and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The prices are always excellent and you can usually find amazing deals in the clearance section.

Good prices on books but when it comes to movies, music and games… they are very over priced. also when selling. it’s best to sell early in the day because I was told that they do have a daily budget on how much to spend.
I brought in 3 PS4 games about 3 weeks ago and they were all newer games that still sell for $ 60 brand new. they offered me $ 19 for all 3 lol. now I have taken stuff to this HPB and for example. they’d offer me $ 30 for my stuff and I’d turn them down. so I said «I wonder if they would offer me more at a different HPB’s». then I’d go to a different one and yes they offer me like $ 40.
Other than this. the employees at the Colerain store are very friendly and helpful.

You really can’t go wrong with this place. I went in looking for magazines for a little project of mine and they didn’t disappoint. In fact, the clearance section exceeded my expectations! The staff here were helpful, friendly and fun at check-​out. I will be back soon to purchase and possibly even sell some books.

Nice book store. Gently used. Although the prices on books are good, the prices on video games and consoles are ridiculous. Almost full retail. Plus very limited selection of video games.

I love the fact you can trade in your old books, games, CDs, pretty much anything your looking to get rid of and look around for something new/​used. It’s great for kids to explore different types of media. Great staff and decent prices on used and new.

If I were homeless I’d totally find some leftover cardboard boxes and stow myself at a Half Price Books store. When the lights would go out, I’d become much wiser by the day. Then before dawn I’d scurry back to my cardboard castle and sleep. I mean who needs to eat or anything right? They have a bathroom, so I guess I could shower in the sink or something.
Ok, back to reality… no cardboard castles to speak of, so I simply went in to save some of my dolla dolla bills ya’ll. (Especially today because they were running a 20% off sale for memorial day! Woooot!!!) I had always preferred this location a few years ago, so I figured that nothing changes, ever in eternity so my spot would be the same right???
The store has a great selection of categories, just not the category I’m really searching for. I always go for travel, and lately have been looking for something pretty specific. I’ve decided to get my walk on, and do the Camino de Santiago within the next few years so figured, why not check out books on that part of Spain and France. Welp, I’m outta luck there, so I just look at travel junk in general, and I’m sadly disappointed, because there is really only a small section now compared to the goliath section they used to have. What happened? Do people not travel anymore?
So then I decided to head to the cheapo magazine section to look for some wish list travel, and lo and behold, they no longer have a travel magazine section. Booooo! Now, they still had National Geographic but I was looking for more random things like I’d found at other locations.
All and all, if you are looking for stories, history or business stuff and creative stuff, I think you’d still fare well. They also have a big selection on records and movies too. But if you are trying to broaden your horizons like me on the travel front then try the location off Princeton rd.
As I mentioned above, I still think it’s cardboard castle worthy.

I am an avid learner, but I always struggle at this location. The only thing I can figure is that the people who shop this location must like the same material as I do because I rarely ever find those «got to have» items! The service is always good and friendly so I always keep coming back for another shot. Perhaps it is because this location seems to be on the smaller size as compared to Montgomery (I always seem to find something there) and Turfway (another location I have trouble finding solid material at). That said, part of the fun is browsing the stores looking for the diamonds you don’t normally see. I suppose I’ll just keep browsing the titles looking for those literary gems for words that resonate!

Half Price books could easily be a destination for my afternoon and an entire paycheck. Well, given the prices, it might just take a bite out of HALF my paycheck, but seriously, the browsing and opportunity to melt into the stacks is amazing.
I tend to make a circle, hit up a few choice sections, pull up a stool and take a gander at selections that catch my eye.
Though it might not be a popular tactic, I really judge a book by it’s cover, title, then description. Shallow, perhaps, but I’ve rarely been disappointed.
There is a good balance of new, old, off beat, school texts, and typical bookstore finds. The staff have also been very helpful in my experience so if you need help, don’t hesitate to ask.
While the general pricing scheme is half off the sticker/​retail, there is a great section in the back where things are dramatically cheaper. Check it out!

Half Price Books can never go wrong. This was my first time to this location, and it was right on point.
I was kind of looking for something specific when I went, yet knowing that HPB doesn’t have a set inventory, I wasn’t disappointed when I didn’t find it. The staff was helpful in directing me to the section I was looking for. In fact, all of the Bibliomaniacs were pretty cool.
This location is smaller than the Kenwood location, which I’m more familiar with, but the clearance section is HUGE. It takes up nearly the whole back wall. I love books, especially when they’re half price, so I’ll definitely be back.

I’m happy I went — and bought a couple books while there. I must admit I was skeptical — were the books really half priced? Really? They were. Half off the printed price was exactly what I paid.
I expected to find a disorganized mess when I went in, but I was pleasantly impressed with the organization of the place. What else, but bookshelves in alpha-​order by author? I’m not sure why I thought differently.

Like its sister stores, it offers books at less-​than-​new prices. This store is a bit out of the way, but it has an excellent cookery section and a fine philosophy selection. The staff was very helpful in my quest for a particular tome; too bad they didn’t have it. As with any bookstore that gets much of its stock from the public, be wary that they may not have what you are looking for. However, they probably have lots of things you are interested in. Example: The human sexuality section was hidden (Psychology, then back toward the clearance shelves), but definitely worth a look. After all, why pay full price for methods and techniques meant to please any woman when you can get away with half?
