Best steak in Cincinnati! Slightly better than Ruth’s Chris in my opinion. The service is excellent. Our drinks never reached empty, and the servers treat you like royalty. The best part was definitely the food! As a side to share, I HIGHLY recommend the baked macaroni & cheese! It was delicious and plentiful. My medium-rare Petite Lily Filet Mignon was cooked perfectly, and the first bite was like heaven. Best steak I’ve ever had! I wish the restaurant was a little quieter, but it wasn’t much of an issue. In conclusion, I can honestly say it’s my favorite restaurant in Cincinnati.

Follow up on review. Contacted by manager, Christoph, who apologized for our experience and explained the challenge they faced this Holiday season evening. Explained«he cared» and this was not a «Ruby experience». He would like an opportunity to make it up to us. Classy… We will return…

Really is as good as it gets. I’ll keep this review short and sweet. If you are looking to splurge, and are also okay shelling out a «pretty penny» go to Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse down on Walnut(or one of his other locations). While I have visited his other restaurants before(Precinct) I have never attended this steakhouse, and, as usual, everything was superb. Ordered the filet – perfectly cooked. You know what else is amazingly good at Jeff Ruby’s besides their steaks? The Mac ‘n Cheese. One of the best side dishes I’ve probably ever had. There’s no doubt I’d go back again and it is a great spot for those really special occasions. You have to respect how successful Jeff Ruby has been. One visit to his restaurant makes it abundantly clear why he has achieved this level of success over the years.

My fiancé & I celebrated our anniversary tonight at Jeff Ruby’s! We were both first timers & were TRULY blown away by the fantastic service & meal. I do not have ENOUGH compliments to give on our waiter, Nate. He has been working there for 15 years & it shows! The gentleman busing the tables(I didn’t happen to get his name) was also refilling our waters quickly & was very good to us as well! Nate was extremely friendly & attentive the entire evening. As for the food — it came out so fast & was delicious. Starting with the bread — the mushroom truffle butter they serve is out of this world. The Steaks were perfectly prepared & seasoned just right. I ordered a filet topped with sautéed mushrooms/onions as well as garlic butter. We chose mashed potatoes & green beans which complimented the meal perfectly. As we were finishing up, Nate brought us a slice of Cheesecake because we had mentioned we were celebrating an anniversary. What a nice finishing touch! We were simply amazed by entire experience & can’t wait to go back! Thank you Nate & the entire Jeff Ruby’s staff for making our first time dining at the famous Jeff Ruby’s incredible!

This is as good a steakhouse as I have ever been. The waiters and bartenders were all knowledge and attentive(attractive as well). The bourbon selection was well above average which was a big plus for me. They also had some good draft selections. But most of all, the steak was outstanding. I’m often disappointed when I go to the big steakhouses. I guess underwhelmed is a better adjective. So many don’t season their meat, don’t cook to the right temp, etc. This steak was cooked to perfection(medium rare) and had great flavor. We also had an order of frites and they were a great pairing. Cooked crispy, not too greasy, well seasoned. The history and the ambiance of this place is cool as well. If you want to spend some money and eat a great steak in Cinci, this is the place to go.

Hands down best place in the city to get a clean cut filet mignon. The bleu cheese topping brings out all the savory flavors of the steak. The Frazier French fries are a great addition. The cheese cake brings a strong finish to the plate.

Came here for my friends birthday. We both got the steak of the night with mashed potatos and a Freddie salad. Omg the Freddie salad is absolutly amazing. My steak was a little undercooked, but that was my fault. My friends steak was perfect and he absolutely loved it. Live music was playing and it was lovely. We ordered the cheesecake for dessert and it was the best cheesecake I have ever had. I will have to say that I much prefer the precinct to the downtown location though. if you are visiting Cincinati, a Jeff Ruby’s visit is a must do.

Outstanding raw bar and filet mignon. Old school atmosphere. Barkeep knows how to make a solid martini. Excellent service. Piano bar was a wee bit loud making it difficult to carryon a conversation.

In a word — SUPERB. I’ve visited Cincinnati a lot in my life but this was my first time at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse. The atmosphere and décor are great — 1940s with lots of nostalgic décor. Our server was excellent and knowledgeable. Got the filet and two sides(asparagus and potatoes anna) to share with a coworker and the cheesecake for dessert. The food was fantastic — every bite was savored. This steakhouse could compete with ANYONE for best steakhouse. Open up the wallet and give it a try next time you’re in Cincy.

I love the environment, it is really classy. The food is amazing. Simply put the best steak I have ever had was the bone in filet mignon, it was $ 69, but worth every penny. Also had the green beans as a side and it was great. The staff was welcoming and knowledgable, I actually got the steak based on the information provided by my waiter Nathan. The music gets a little loud, which leads to the conversations getting louder, but it still works. The music was done by live piano, with speakers(which seemed unnecessary due to the size of the restaurant). A fantastic overall experience. If you’re in Cincinnati for any reason this is a must!

Omg, the steak was indescribably delicious. Melt in your mouth goodness cooked to perfection. Thank goodness, it’s Restaurant Week so it’s also affordable. The salad was a little limp, the loud obnoxious party waiting for their table bumped into my chair 5xs, but the steak…

We revisited Ruby’s during restaurant week, which is always a gamble, but dang they delivered. Our waiter this year, Johnny, was warm and unpretentious serving unobtrusively and attentively. This year a bone-in filet was on the menu, which I love for the flavor bite the bone adds. I loved the Martini cabernet sauvignon the Precinct recommended on my visit a few months ago, and they too had it, although they didn’t have the new Tooth & Nail line(a moderate red blend from Orin Swift) but the Martinin cab has a great cherry vanilla-tobacco mid palate and is so-o silky. We began with the Freddie salad tossed in applewood smoked bacon bits and tangy-sweet ranch, mine was a bit soggy(perhaps dressed too far in advance) while my husband opted for the dressing free version which was crisp and chilled. My filet mignon was drizzled in a rich bordelaise mushroom sauce on a bed of smashed potatoes –outstanding. You want to sop up every last swipe with the crusty bread as my French grandma did. Speaking of bread, raving about the truffle mushroom butter — savory and rich. The chicken almandine on a bed of green beans was sprinkled with almonds for crunch and was moist and flavorful. Unlike last year’s restaurant week, the cheesecake was full portion — enough for two. Dense, lightly lemon, rich tangy. The setting is a cross between a swanky Vegas casino and a cruise ship atrium — an array of spangled chandeliers, gilt, reflective surfaces, a piano bar and glam lighting. The smooth, friendly service made all the difference this year.

I am a traveling consultant and eat a lot of steak around the country. I’ve been spoiled at the places I get to eat and the bills I get to expense. Jeff Ruby’s sits on my top 5 next to Burke’s, Mahogany’s, Doris Metropolitan and Bern’s. Well worth the money if you are a lover of prime steak. I’m proud that Cincinnati serves up such fine steaks. Get their bone in anything and you’ll be happy. I haven’t really explored he wine selection since I usually foot the bill when I eat here.

OMG Jeff Ruby’s! We came here after my sister’s graduation. The service we received was beyond exceptional and the food was amazing. Jeff Ruby’s is a steakhouse, its more upscale and expensive. It is definitely a special occasion place. We had a reservation and we were seated right away when we showed up. There was 6 of us so we had a nice big table near some windows. We all ordered steak, obviously, but they do have some other entrée’s to chose from. We ordered about 4 sides, since the sides are family size, like 2 or 3 people can share them. Our favorite was the creamed spinach. Our baked potato we ordered was pretty hard, it was huge so I think it just needed some more cook time, that was the only down side, but honestly it didn’t ruin the meal. They start you off with a bread basket. The butter is half butter and half truffle butter and it was good, I wanted to take it home. The steak was so tender, it was honestly some of the best steak we have ever had. It was better then all the higher end steak houses we had been too, such as Capital Grill, Morton’s and places like that. The service was exceptional. My sister and I asked a waiter where the bathroom was and instead of pointing he walked us arm in arm to it. Some one did the same for my mother. It was just so nice. Our leftover’s were given to us in a reusable shopping bag! I also filled out the comment card of the table and about 2 weeks later, I received a hand written thank you card, thanking us for visiting. We really wish that my sister almost still went to school in Cincinnati so we could go again! Next time we are ever there to celebrate we will definitely be stopping back!

I have finally come down off my Jeff Ruby’s high enough to gather my thoughts and write a review. I have been to multiple Jeff Ruby’s restaurants and I can easily say that the Steak House is my favorite. I really enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant. The room was beautifully decorated with chandeliers and hundreds of wine bottles. It has a New Orleans meets Great Gatsby feel. My fiancé and I were promptly seated(we had reservations) in a half circle comfy booth. The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing. The GM came over and talked to us and even told our waiter we were celebrating something so we were brought free cheesecake which we somehow managed to fit into our bellies after the giant meal. We started out with oysters on the half-shell which were to die for. Our waiter warned us that all of their side dishes which are a la carte were large, but we were planning on having left overs. We ordered green beans, potatoes Anna and the mac and cheese. Now everyone on Unilocal seems to rave about the potatoes, which were good. BUTTHEMACANDCHEEESE… hold the phone, shut the front door where the love for these noodles??? Best mac and cheese I have ever had at a restaurant. As expected our steaks were delicious and perfectly cooked. We had a wonderful evening and we are already putting money in our piggy banks for a return trip to Jeff Ruby Steakhouse.

I would like to correct my review that I placed for Jeff Rubys. I originally thought my Husband and I were charged for the«celebration» cake that was brought out to us, but I have now realized that it was listed on the check, but the deduction was also present on the bottom. Must have had a bit too much wine to read the receipt properly. A manager from the Steakhouse contacted me today and explained this. I am happy to provide a 5 star rating for this restaurant now that this has been understood. They go above and beyond-we will definitely be back very soon. We arrived with a reservation for 7:15pm. They told us they did not have us in the system. I pulled up the reservation confirmation in my phone although they did not ask for it. After a few moments they were able to find us a table which we were very grateful for. Our waiter was very nice and had great manners. The other wait staff were just as accommodating. My husband ordered a crab meat soup to begin which he thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered a Riesling and he ordered some kind of mixed drink. They were both to our liking. Of course, after my first glass of wine, I had to use the restroom(light weight). On my way, a waiter kindly asked if id like him to escort me as he stuck out his arm. It was a nice touch to the evening. The restrooms are just as beautiful as the rest of the restaurant minus the amazing chandeliers throughout the dining area. For our main courses, we ordered the following: 9oz filet, with garlic butter added, the cowboy steak, with mushrooms added, the macaroni and asparagus. The cowboy steak had me regretting my filet choice. Although the filet was cooked perfectly, the cowboy steaks flavor was out of this world! So good! The macaroni was exactly what I was hoping for and the asparagus, well it’s asparagus :). My husband also ordered a 65 $ shot of Johnny Walker Blue Label, which I would never do for a drink, but he really enjoyed it. During our entrance to the restaurant, the hostess acknowledged the fact that we were celebrating our 10 year anniversary. To our surprise, the waiter brought us a piece of cheese cake with a candle on top and said«happy anniversary». What a pleasant surprise. The cheesecake was great. We will be back soon-I also will entertain the thought of taking my clients out for a great meal to this restaurant. Like my Husband says-This place is not only about a meal, it’s about a great experience.

You’re definitely in for a gastronomic foodie experience at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in downtown Cincinnati. FYI: Zagat rates Jeff Ruby’s higher than any other steakhouse in Chicago or New York. Reservations are a must. We got to Rudy’s early and started with drinks at the bar. Once we were seated, the waiter was quick to cover the specials for the night and also assisted us with selecting a few choice bottles of wine to drink with before, during and after our meal. So the night started with huge Tiger shrimp prawns, Alaskan King crab and cold poached lobster(if you’re going to start a meal, you got to do it right). I had the Freddie Salad to start while my 8 oz. Japanese A5 Wagyu steak was being massaged in the kitchen and gently seared to perfection. I knew it was going to be dangerously expensive as this particular menu item has no price listed next to it(ouch). I thoroughly enjoyed my Wagyu steak regardless of the market price. It was luscious, tender and perfectly cooked rare-to-medium-rare. The potatoes Anna and sautéed mushrooms were a nice accompaniment to my perfectly done steak! The night ended with some dessert of coarse. We ordered the Crème Brulee, the Ricotta donuts(yummy) and the three layer carrot cake. Although, I’m not generally a carrot cake fan(unless it’s my mom’s), Jeff Ruby’s has done an incredible job recreating their take on carrot cake which I found to be very delicious and a must try. Overall, the night was filled with great food and company! I highly recommend Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse!

Had some great drinks here. They were stiff, but my lawds, so was the bill. Our group of 4 had a total of 7 drinks. The bill was $ 125.00. Yowzer! I knew Jeff Ruby was pricey but I was surprised by the bill. We sat near the cozy fireplace and had great people watching. Perhaps a good place to go if your pocketbook is feeling footloose and fancy-free.
