Knickers XY

I’ve meant to review this place for a while.
Is this place pricey? Absolutely, but not when they have 70% off their merchandise. This place is the premier place for young 20-​somethings to buy clothing that is high-​quality, exclusive-​feeling (in-​so-​much-​as there are very few places who offer these brands and selections in the city), and at a reasonable (discounted) price.
In a word, this place is wonderful. I’m biased, as I’ve lived in Hyde Park my entire life. But as a YP, looking to address a much-​needed wardrobe update on a budget, this place gives you more than a bang for your buck. If you’re able to afford clothing at their sticker price, that’s wonderful for you. But for bargain hunters such as myself who won’t readily admit to being a label whore, I’d recommend this place to anybody who wants a stylish wardrobe at a reasonable price without worrying about whether or not everybody else will own the same things as they do.
The store operators are very helpful, and while I’ve never been to the salon, it looks top-​notch.
By the way, this place sells underwear. Having no shame I’ll let you know that I’ve purchased their under-​wares (see what I did there?), which can range from «regular» to «Ummm?», to «I-Don’t-know-how-this-works.» If you need something complicated, look no further, though you should know that they have a great selection of stylish, I-​just-​need-​underwear-​style underwear. My ONLY critique of this place is that their sale pieces are in a bargain-​bin style plastic tub that I believe detracts from the overall experience of the place, and the true quality of their merchandise.
Final thought: Go when they have a sale, always shop around, and remember that you’re paying for a quality product from a locally-​owned store.

I’ve wanted to stop by here many times. Now that I’ve finally gotten the chance I will be back. Pumping Beastie Boys through the speakers, it’s all about the Y. It’s a great variety of clothing that I honestly feel isn’t available anywhere else in the city. Not just knickers here either. Everything is of high quality, including their selling of The Art of Shaving items, Ben Sherman, et. al… just check it out.

I had heard of Knickers XY (the guy version of Knickers of Hyde Park) for a while but never got a chance to step in until recently. Not sure why I have not.
Ryan B hit it right on the head, it feels like a great boutique from a major metropolis. Everything is sleek with a metallic sheen and the clothes are nicely laid out.
No matter what the name says. this store is not all underwear. In fact, you won’t even see any when you walk in. There’s a pretty decent selection of men’s wear on the first floor (shirts and jeans and whathaveyou.) There’s a whole room for skin care in the back (almost hidden away in a vault) and a separate salon for haircuts. The second floor is where all the men’s underwear is, if that is indeed what you are searching for,
I enjoyed walking through here and seeing what they have. Also, ladies, this seems like a great spot to buy a gift for. Or dudes, sometimes, it’s a great spot to buy a gift for yourself. For all you Santa’s helpers with low «elf esteem» (that’s a pun,) maybe a new shirt of pair of underwear is just what you need to give yourself a boost during these colder months. Just sayin.‘
Looking for something a little nicer than you’d get at the mall, a little more unique, and a lot more friendly to small businesses. This is the spot for sure.

When I visit this store, I feel like I’ve stepped into a New York boutique. It’s super nice, and therefore super pricy. I buy occasionally, but I enjoy browsing here immensely.
Visit for a pair of underwear or a haircut and styling. If you’ve got the money for it, you won’t be disappointed.

An update. I received a very nice message from the store after my review letting me know that the store has been updated and to address some of my comments/​concerns. Knickers XY deserves kudos for their response. At their suggestion, I went back to the store and gave it another look. They have moved the underwear to the upper level and put some very nice men’s casual wear up front… definitely a good move in my opinion.

I really debated between 3 and 4 stars here. They’ve done an amazing job with the space and the store has a very cool vibe. It’s a unique idea as we don’t have many specialty stores for men in Cincinnati. However, I went into the store to pick up something for the hubby for Christmas, and I was a little turned off by one of the sales people/​owner. Not sure if he was the owner or what. But, as soon as I walked in, he didn’t ask what I was looking for or if I needed gift suggestions. He just approached me and told me how I just HAD to buy some shirt or line of something because they were the only store in the US that had it (all while he was eating a sucker, which I found very odd). I looked around a little more and just left, primarily because he annoyed me. Went back the next day and bought some stuff. But, again same guy, same tactic, same message. Umm, I was just in yesterday and can you not tell that I don’t care if you’re the only store that has it. Once he left me alone, the other sales guy was really nice and helpful. I’ll give them some time to get over the newness and I’ll be back. I hope they do well because we need more unique/​local stores in Cincy.
