This is a nice spacious lodge. The folks were very friendly. My friends and I came here for trivia. The beer was cheap, but one warning: the trivia is incredibly slow! It took them 3 hours to do 10 questions.

A year ago I would have given this facility only three stars, I’m now giving it 4. If I didn’t have to pay a dollar, plus league fees, to get in to play or watch someone play, it’d be a 5. Also, if it didn’t have slightly shady underpinnings(read religious or cult like impressions) for me, I might also embrace it more. KOC culture aside, this volleyball facility really stepped it up this year. I’ve been playing off and on at KOC for 3 years(KFC as most westsiders I know have taken to abbreviate it– oddly). I’ve played co-ed volleyball at both levels and found the refs to be very nice, kind, and well versed. The rules vary depending of the level of play, but I think they do a good job. We experienced our share of rain, cold, hail, and crappy weather in the summer session last year, but there is a shaded area if you’re watching or resting that is much appreciated. There is music this year which really increases the ambiance and banners and new nets(I think). Either way, there has been a face lift that I really appreciate here. Baseball fields, a picnic shelter, batting cages, and an area for kids to play in the sandbox round out the establishment. Not delving into the actual organization, again, this is a great place to play volleyball.

Knights of Columbus is a privately run, outdoor sports complex, that is open to the public through baseball, softball, and volleyball leagues. They also offer batting cages for a small fee. Entrance to the park is $ 1 for the day. The volleyball courts have been updated this year with new sand, nets, and music. This much needed update has made all the difference in the overall volleyball league experience. My team stopped playing here a year ago due to the poor court conditions and poor management. With the old management gone and the new upgrades, we have decided to return to this location. They also offer beer and food in a small shack near the baseball field but I tend to steer clear of it due to its not so clean appearance and overall unhealthy food. The beer prices are reasonable with the typical offering of bud light and miller light.
