Lunch with my sister on a Friday was my second visit to La Poste. We were seated in the middle of the dining room by what appeared to be the only server. There were a few other tables, most looked like they were finishing up their meals. We arrived just before 1 pm. Honestly, the place looked closed when we walked up. And unfortunately, a large tour bus was parked right in front of the restaurant. A few minutes later he finally brought glasses to our table and then after another couple of minutes he filled them. By this time we were ready to order. I ordered the Steak Frites, medium rare. And my sister ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich(which seems to have replaced the chicken salad sandwich). Our food took a bit to come out but the singular server was tending multiple tables. But when it came out, you could tell it had been sitting for a while. My steak, which had been sliced for me, was clearly under the heat lamp for more than a couple of minutes and lost some of it’s «medium rare.» My sister said that her sandwich definitely could have been warmer. The fries are great there — huge portions, fresh, well seasoned. And the steak was great too, although not technically served to temperature. My sister commented that the bread on her sandwich was really great but the sandwich was a mess. The chopped romaine lettuce was slippery and it soon fell apart. The aoli for the fries is also top notch, very garlicky and fresh. I was disappointed in the service. He was awkward, slow, and honestly needed help. There is no reason why someone from the kitchen couldn’t run our food out to us instead of letting it sit. That was the difference between 3 stars and 4 stars for me. But I also think the prices are extremely reasonable for lunch the five ounce sirloin and fries was $ 12 and I think the chicken sandwich was $ 10. Definitely worth it.

My wife and I had dinner on a Saturday night and entered a very crowded and noisy Lacoste. However, we had booked ahead of time on Open Table and were seated immediately, and by the window. Our friendly server appeared in a timely fashion and explained the wine list selections for both bottle and glass portions, and explained the soup of the day and the special of the day. Once we ordered, food was served very promptly — the vegetable broth soup was excellent, as were the pomme frittes(excuse any misspellings here!). The wine magically appeared simultaneously as the soup and frittes, the server having previously explained her choice of wine pairings and how the particular brand of chardonnay I chose to order differed from an oak-aged ‘buttery’-type of chardonnay. Good to know and fun to learn. Our main courses were terrific; my chicken breast with smashed potatoes and glazed carrots was a 12 on the 10-point scale. The breast was cooked to absolute perfection — seasoned wonderfully and moist and tender. For dessert we split the chocolate-orange mousse, and that too was incredible. Really, we had no complaints at all and can give only compliments to our knowledgeable and friendly server and to the chef for their wonderful preparation of our meals. As I said, the place was packed yet we were made to feel welcome — and special. Thanks, La Poste, for a wonderful evening.

Le Poste is a Clifton gaslight’s fancy restaurant. The space is beautiful and they have some very nice photographs by Jens Rosenkrantz on the walls. During the day it is lovely with all the natural light flooding in. We do not go here as often as you would think as we live within walking distance. The food is generally good though I feel it is a tad pricey for what you get. The menu is very meat heavy, so as vegetarians the choices are limited. There really are only a few healthy vegetarian options. They have salads of course and they are delicious. The one vegetarian entrée is a very heavy mushroom ravioli. While delicious, I sometimes would like something a bit lighter and healthier. Last time we were there we got an appetizer of a tempura veggies. It was awful. Way too salty. We sent it back and tried again, and while it was less salty, it was very greasy– not that dissimilar to fried food from a county fair. I really was surprised that I did not have a few heart attacks during dinner. The service generally been pretty adequate. I feel if you do not go nuts and buy a bunch of wine you get less attention. One of the best experiences we had was eating at the bar. Our last visit, while the food was not great(the 2015 tempura incident), we did have a lovely waitress that was very good. I wish I had her name, but she was wonderful. The place is very loud. I suggest it for couples who are willing to get close to talk romantically. We have gone with other couples and had a tough time hearing each other. It is very close, we will be back, but I wish it was more.

So this is my second visit and I really wanted to love it. It’s charming, French bistro style, 20 or fewer tables off the Ludlow Gaslight district. Quaint 19th century windowpane storefront, linen tablecloths, around the corner from the theater. Tried it a second time because we bought a Groupon that gave us $ 16 off of our bill. We were celebrating and brought a bottle of Orin Swift the Prisoner from our wine cellar, called ahead and verified the corkage fee($ 15). The waiter disappeared with our $ 50 bottle of wine, did not uncork at the table(for cork inspection) and decanted back behind the counter. Problem: he could swap out $ 9 bottle of Barefoot and we would not see it. Dude, folks who bring special celebration wine from their cellars want to savor the experience — the cork, all of it. And, when we finished only half of the bottle, guess what? He no longer«had the bottle» and dumped it into a plastic soup container to take home. Oy, inexperienced sommelier. The small plate short rib rallette was incredible — savory, rich bit salty. Loved it. I began with the beet salad –solid light vinaigrette and fresh greens, but beets a bit tired, not snappy and fresh, that mushy whiff of refrig taste, and please: more than two pea-sized dollops of fresh goat cheese(which was creamy delish). Debated between tasting menu and duck — waiter recommended duck«because it’s rarely on menu.» Only problem: duck was tough, about half unchewable, which we didn’t discover until halfway through the dish. Garnished with jammy-sweet sticky marmalade on duck medallions resting on a bed of turnip purée. We finished with cheesecake in a tarte dish — creamy and rich. Nice. Nice ambiance, inept service, hit or miss food.

We had a very nice dinner last Friday evening. The hostess was kind to take our reservations for three people. We were going to bring a vegan and she said the chef could easily accommodate our needs! But the vegan didn’t join us, so no worries either. Yah. Food was great. We started with delicious mussels, fragrant and just as I like them. More appetizer of pâté something was wonderful and nicely presented for my sister. However, I ordered a beet salad with pistachio nuts, I believe and it was all wilted and yucky, not crisp or tasty. It just didn’t meet the standards. Plus other companion had a Caesar salad he said was ho hum. Salads need work there. Moving on, the entries were lovely. Sis and I split ravioli! Lovely– placed on two plates and amazing. Companion had a duck entrée that was also right on, wonderful. The restaurant was understandably filled up and noisy, very lively for a Friday. The back room is nicer and quieter if you can reserve a table there. Service was great, place is fun. I will go back without getting salad.

La Poste has always drawn me in with their pretty paned Windows and tonight we gave it a try. It was nice inside with white table cloths and attractive artwork. Overall a nice ambience though by time we left it was quite loud. The service was excellent and the servers were well trained. The specials were thoroughly described and I felt like we always had what we needed without waiting too long. My only complaint would be that they brought the second course out very quickly after the first and so it sat getting cold for a few minutes while we finished our fort course. Better timing would be appreciated. The food was excellent overall perhaps with just a few flaws. The kale salad was typical — good but nothing special. The prosciutto salad was actually all rolled up inside prosciutto and was absolutely delicious and unique. I’d order it again. The crab cake was soft and crisp and flavorful with delicious peppers and perhaps just a bit too much arugula. The scallop risotto was excellent — buttery and flavorful and nice and hot. The salmon was where things fell a little short. The salmon was perfectly cooked with a perfectly crisp and golden skin but it was sadly almost flavorless. The salmon itself had a delicious fresh taste but it was as if it hadn’t even been salted. It could’ve used a light sauce or at least some seasoning. The Brussels sprouts and cauliflower purée were similarly problematic — absolutely perfectly cooked but without any seasoning at all. Besides a few shortfalls I think this place has excellent services and fair prices and We’ll definitely be back.

My friends and I ate lunch here, all of us for the first time. I’m giving 4 stars for the pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. It was not busy. The experience was a bit odd, such as «why did the server take the bread plates off of the table early on, then bring us a basket of bread»? We then had no plates! The bread was good — we each got 1 piece. Also, the water in the carafes was a nice touch, but it was lukewarm, and when I asked for cold water it took a long time for them to bring a glass of ice. The food was 3 stars. Several of us got the mushroom soup, which was hardly even warm, but we didn’t complain because we were trying to have a pleasant meal. The soup did taste very rich, and had only a few mushrooms since it was«creamed» soup. We would not order it again. Some of us got salads and some sandwiches. The beet salads were good, but nothing special, and pretty on the plate. The salmon burger and other sandwiches were good, and the fries that came with them were very good.

You absolutely have to visit this place! Hands down one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time in Cincinnati. Service was fantastic and the food was phenomenal! I had recently seen La Poste Eatery featured on Fox 19 news, and when I told some coworkers about it, they insisted I tried it, so I made a reservation for my boyfriend and myself. We started with the short rib rillette, which seemed more like a cross between a short rib cake and a croque, with the addition of the poached egg on top. It was salty, decitant, and satisfying. Next we shared the prosciutto salad roll up, and OMG was that delicious! I couldn’t take small enough bites to make it last! For my entrée I had the mushroom ravioli and it was so good my boyfriend was lucky he got a bite! This place is an absolute must! I promise you won’t regret it!

What a wonderful place to dine. The atmosphere is welcoming with such a pleasant staff. The wine list is well versed with tastes for many different pallets. For appetizers we dined on the vegetarian pâté which was unique & full of flavor. Along with the mussels which were cooked in a delicious butter with ample amounts of garlic, which is my favorite with mussels. My Mother got the crab cakes, which she claimed were the best she ever had, which is saying a lot because she gets crab cakes every where she goes. I had the short rib which was perfect comfort food, made with whipped potatoes & root vegetables. Yum! We will definitely be coming back!

I have been coming to La Poste a handful of times since moving to Cincinnati. It’s my favorite fine dining experience in Clifton. The staff is always smiling and very knowledgable, and on Wednesday evenings they even have a jazz band! My favorite dish would have to be the grilled salmon, but I also recommend the wild mushroom ravioli and the la poste burger they serve. Portions are bit on the smaller side so it might be in your interest to order something from the small plates as well.

I had the loveliest time at La Poste and I’m glad to have chosen this place for my early birthday celebration! First of all, I loved the ambiance. The place is elegantly decorated without trying too hard. The service was superb. Our server knew the menu like the back of her hand and made some excellent wine and dessert suggestions for us. We started with a glass of Malbec and the French Kiss cocktail and both were very good! If I remember correctly, it was $ 8 for the Malbec and $ 12 for the cocktail. We ordered the crab cake for appetizer($ 14) and it was delicious beyond words! It came with tartar sauce, and arugula which perfectly balanced the creaminess and richness of the crab cake. We skipped the soup and salad because the crab cake was quite filling and we did not want to be too full for the main course. My fiancé ordered the Scallop Quinoa Risotto($ 27) which of course I gladly sampled, and it was divine! The scallop was mouthwatering and melted in my mouth like butter! Every bite of the risotto was delectable and just made you want to eat more. Yours truly ordered the Wild Mushroom Ravioli which was around $ 19 I believe. The pasta was al dente and cooked to perfection and the mushroom was so delicious. I couldn’t believe mushroom could taste that good! Last but not the least, we ordered the famous bread pudding for dessert. It was scrumptious and I’m quite positive we ate the whole thing in under a minute! Haha! Our bill came to about $ 102. A little pricey but worth every penny since it is one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. I cannot wait for another special occasion to come up so I can come here again!!!

What an unquestionably excellent night that was! We live just about a block away and have always been entranced by the smells that we get for free when we pass by the lovely café style windows. The décor is classy– yet comfortable. They take reservations and I would recommend them most weekends. Now on to the food. We started with an enjoyable Kale salad that was delightfully light and delicious. The salad came out quickly and had a delicious dressing. It came out in two bowls since we were splitting, and they were both very large portions. He also brought out some great sixteen bricks bread. Together they made a great first course to our meal. I ordered the mushroom ravioli which had been recommended to me by no less than 3 people. Well. it did not disappoint! the sauce was flavorful and smooth and the ravioli, which are served in a way as I can only describe as «Rolled», were filled with the warm ragu of mushrooms. Every bite was enjoyed and I certainly do recommend it to anyone who likes mushrooms. I am sure you can find my boyfriends review of the burger on here somewhere — let’s just say we will be back many times for that burger — so that is recommended as well. We had a bottle of wine with dinner that the server was happy to help pick out. We ended up with a strikingly balanced pinot noir that went well with both dishes. I could spend a few meals exploring their curated wine list. If you don’t know, just ask — the staff was more than helpful. We also ordered dessert which ended up as yet another highlight from our meal. The bread pudding was a perfect end to our lovely dinner. It was soft on the inside but had a wonderful crust on the outside that had us talking about it well after we left the meal. As a little treat, we also ordered two manhattans as a cap to our night. They were very good and actually went very well with the bread pudding. Service all night was spectacular — we always felt taken care of, our water was always full(with a bottle of wine and manhattans that is important!) yet we always felt relaxed and comfortable, never rushed. All-in-all I think it is safe to say that La Poste is the gem of Clifton. If you are looking for a great meal, date night, or just want to grab a burger before a movie at the esquire — This is a great place that is comfortable, has great food and just feels special. Cheers!

La Poste, how my heart has yearned for you and now we finally meet… and its been worth the wait! The post is one of those places that when you walk by you just feel fancy looking then and the smell and deliciousness of the aroma in the air makes my mouth water right now. I found a great deal online for $ 50 of the post for only 25 and thought hey, what the hey, that’ll cover the food and we can buy some wine! Just a fun fact about me, I do not like kale. I don’t like feeding it to my tortoises and I think it tastes like crunchy styrofoam. Somehow I was convinced to get a brussel sprout and kale salad and thought if there will be one time in my life I enjoy eating kale it’ll be now. And oh my god it was so good! It was cold with shave Brussels sprouts and had this dressing on it and that had to be home made from the hands of the heavens that afternoon. After that came the burger, which was phenomenal and everybody was a delicious treat. Bradley got the mushroom ravioli which was actually very good but I was much happier with the burger. The meat was tender and moist, the cheese delicious and the French fries and aioli that came with it were incredible and bountiful. Them a single favorite thing I have the entire meal was the bread pudding with ice cream. Next time I go I’m ordering that for both my appetizer and my dessert, if not also my main entrée. It was warm and gooey and caramelized and bountiful and delicious and delectable and creamy and soft and crunchy and everything and anything you want in a bread pudding. It had this crust on the outside with this delectable center that just had your spoon coming back for more and more and more until the disappointment hit of no more left. This in no way shape or form impacted my trip to the post, but I would want about ten times as much as they gave me haha. It actually was a very large portion and easily with split by two people. In all my experience was everything I had hoped and I cannot wait to go back and grab that burger once again.

Ambiance and service are good. My perfect Manhattan was perfect– which seems to be often a challenge for bartenders. The beet salad was excellent. My chicken was meh but generally well done. The meat was tough. It was nice enough to give it another try but my main was a little disappointing this trip. However, I would like that Manhattan again!

Just came back from a lovely lovely dinner at this charming place just off Ludlow Ave. What a treat! The service was excellent. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff, they highlighted some signature dishes and I was really happy with the recommendations. The interior is very pleasant, looks very elegant and yet it was a very relaxed dinner. All the dishes were presented beautifully. We enjoyed a leek-goat cheese flatbread with asparagus as a starter, what an opening! Very thin crunchy crust and creamy leek purée with freckles of fluffy goat cheese, plus the asparagus was not overgrilled and was still very tender! The complimentary Sixteen Bricks baguette with balsamic olive made our wait for the main courses easy and the reduced balsamic was really good, sweet dark goodness. Per recommendation, I tried the signature wild mushroom ravioli and it was fabulous. It looked and tasted amazing, I liked the shape of the ravioli(opened envelope), the thin dough and the creamy sauce made the modest-looking portion surprisingly filling. My husband’s well done burger was great too, not an easy task to make a juicy well done patty, but it worked! The truffled fries accompanied the dish and the Sixteen Bricks challah bun was a very appreciated perk :) Grand finale: bread pudding with ice cream. Rich and delicious. Wonderful!

Went here about a week ago for a semi-special occasion with my family: Great ambience, though it gets loud with the tables so close together, it feels very«homey» while also upscale and welcoming. The weight staff is both professional and friendly, without being«hovery». The complimentary 16 bricks bread is great(as their bread always is), with some delicious olive oil pairing as well. The food was delicious, my little sister got a burger that was a little undercooked for her liking(she asked for medium well, got medium rare [I take this as a good thing since the meat was great]), but every aspect of it was quality. My mother and I each got the risotto, I added chicken to mine. That is honestly one of the richest dishes I’ve ever tasted, completely over the top decadent, and completely delicious. The serving of chicken was sizable, and worked very well with dish as a whole. The only knock on this place? The cost. It was, in my opinion, much too expensive for what we got. Even though the food was high quality, I have a hard time justifying that kind of cost, The side salads are expensive, the dishes themselves come with very little in the way of accompaniments, and the portions aren’t particularly sizable — though I would say they’re adequate. All in all La Poste is a great location, if you can afford it, or you have a special event. But I still don’t feel comfortable at this price range.

This place is as good as it gets. If you’re looking for a nice dinner, somewhere to impress a date or your parents or to have a great birthday dinner at, then look no farther than this gem in Clifton. I made a reservation on Open Table(very convenient) and included in the comments that we were celebrating my fiancé’s birthday. They called me the day of to confirm and to ask if we were still celebrating a birthday. I said yes, and I knew they were going to do something extra special. When you walk into La Poste Eatery, first off, the décor is just beautiful. It’s extremely classy, but still modern and fresh. I love the artwork on the wall, and that wine room… Please just lock me in the wine room forever. I could live in there, seriously. Our server was extremely nice, and offered up a few suggestions for dinner. I ordered the Malbec with the burger, and my fiancé got a Dogfish head 60 minute beer(he’s not a wine drinker) with the steak frites. It took us a little while to all get our food, but we had free bread and drinks so we were ok. This is not the kind of place where you rush through dinner(There were people to the left of us who took what must have been a three hour dinner… We’re not that leisurely, but you get the idea). When the burger came out, I was salivating. It smelled sooo good, and it did not disappoint. It was extremely juicy and the bun was a little sweet, and honestly I have no complaints. The fries were amazing, and they make their own ketchup. Can you beat that? I don’t think so. My date loved his steak, which was served with a delicious sauce and cooked perfectly. We were so full, I don’t think we would have ordered dessert, but then they brought out a complimentary bread pudding with ice cream(and a cute candle for him to blow out) for my fiancé’s birthday. Thank god we did not pass up on the bread pudding! It was incredible, and definitely lived up to the hype on Unilocal… Plus it was served with Graeter’s vanilla bean. They were so nice to give us a free dessert for his birthday… We will definitely be coming back here when we have something to celebrate! Until then, I will be dreaming of that burger…

I absolutely adore La Poste. Conveniently located off of Ludlow, this adorable chic restaurant provides comfort and class. The bar is quite small, which is where I always prefer to sit, but there are plenty of tables and booths. They even have a private area for a large group. The service is excellent. The staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. The wine! Great wine list :-) The food is always delicious. The only thing I’d say is their mushroom ravioli pasta dough needs to be rolled out thinner and it wouldn’t hurt to have a drizzle of truffle oil on there ;-) I’ve never been disappointed with a visit here. It’s a perfect pick for any occasion, even just enjoying a glass of wine and an appetizer while you’re in the area.

I’ve been here a bunch and am surprised I failed to review it. It has a great atmosphere inside and a wonderful street presence. I particularly like the warm, soft light, soothing décor and huge windows. The seating is comfortable and stylish as well. You can really relax and enjoy a long meal and a good conversation over wine. They make excellent drinks for a small bar. They have a good selection of alcohol and take it seriously. Their wine menu has a good selection of quality wine for any taste. When I’ve come with larger groups, the service was impeccable, helpful, and cheerful. I’ve always loved my food and no matter who I take or how much we order, it all seems to disappear. I will say the pomme frites are a huge favorite and if you order some for the table, get more than one. It will be gone fast. I particularly like when they have live music and you can make a nice evening of it, and draw out the experience. It’s expensive. There aren’t a TON of vegetarian options, but the vegetarians who’ve dined with me have always left happy. Parking can be a bit tricky, but they do have valet available. If they had more or better vegetarian options that weren’t simply pizza or mushroom ravioli, they would earn another star.
