I’ve been tanning, waxing and getting my haircut here for years. I have grown to really like both Muna and Nasser and they are both very good at what they do. I have switched hair colors and styles many times and they have always accommodated me very well. I like these guys :)

I was looking for the exact kind of person and salon to deal with my thick unruly hair, and finally the search is over! He gave me an amazing haircut within a matter of 15 minutes and let me remind you again that my hair are thick shoulder length and quiet unruly in summer. My only suggestion is that they should have the shampooing of the hair before the haircut if they are gonna charge 25 $ onwards. I have heard from my friends that they do shampoo the hair but they never did mine.

I have been tanning at NK for 2 years. The tanning packages are affordable and much better prices than any other tanning salon in the area. The staff is very friendly and I have never had to wait for a bed. I also love that the staff is never pushy about buying packages or lotions-unlike any other tanning salon I have tried. The beds are all standard tanning beds(no stand ups), and this is the perfect place for the occasional tanner like myself. I would definitely recommend NK!

I like this place because it’s affordable. I have gotten my eyebrows and lip done from all: Mona, Nasser, and Amber. Nasser charges $ 19; Mona and Amber charge $ 17(tip extra for service, as always). I would suggest getting eyebrows and lip done only from Mona unless you absolutely had to get them done the same day. The waxing heater needs to be replaced/cleaned. They offer the best price in the area, compared to the newly opened House of Brows. Update: European Wax Center in the area seems to offer better and cleaner experience nowadays!

I absolutely love getting my hair cut here! I started coming here while i was in grad school at UC, and I try to always come back if I’m passing through Cincinnati. The staff is super friendly and the prices are very affordable! I wish I could find a salon like this in New Jersey.

Despite the mediocre reviews, I decided to give NK a shot-exclusively because a dear friend emphatically recommended Munna at a time when I was in dire need of a hair cut with no where close to go. In typical fashion, I kept forgetting/putting off making an appointment. I was shocked when I called on a Tuesday and was able to schedule and appointment for Wednesday at 2. This is a small shop that seems to take quite a few walk ins. I had a 2:00 appointment, and I would say my hair cut started about 2:20 or 2:30. Initially, I was a bit annoyed; I always am when I make an appointment for something and it seems as people who didn’t bother to make an appointment receive preference. There was no sign/check in system when I walked in. I was simply greeted(by everyone in the place) and had a seat on the sunken-in couch. Eventually, as I was the only person left, I was asked what I had come in for-this didn’t give me much confidence going in to the experience. However…I was still done-wash, cut, dry, styled, by 3:00. Bam. For a girl who has sat in a salon chair for HOURS while the beautician struggles to get through my thicker-than-the-last-Harry-Potter-book hair, this is unheard of. So, what do you get for a 30 minute(and $ 25) haircut?! I have to say, it’s just what I needed and wanted. Shortened, thinned, styled. So, the four stars is really for the speed and quality of the haircut. Keep in mind, I went in without high demands, or photos or anything-it is hard to get a bad haircut with decently long curly hair. I’d likely go back when I inevitably find myself needing a haircut before a weekend/work/holiday event. And with my observations, I’d also be comfortable stopping by after work without an appointment.

Most of the reviews that are here are for the eyebrow waxing… I can’t speak of that, though I always hear the clients say that her brow work will change you. In a good way, of course. My review is for the salon portion– NK has been styling my hair for almost 10 years and I won’t go to anyone else. I’ve tried several other salons around town and Nassar has the best prices, hands down, and he get’s the job done. He gives me confidence to try new looks when I ask because he really understands how hair can change the shape of your face and bring out your fabulous features. I typically only do walk ins(though he probably wants me to call ahead), and though sometimes I have to wait to get started, it’s nothing like the 2 hour salon visits at other places. I hate how long other salons take to get the job done. I’m a busy woman and I don’t have time to sit in a chair making small talk all day. Now if you are looking to be pampered and coddled all day long, they can certainly meet your needs. The reasons I go to NK Salon are as follows: — NK knows his way around a head of hair. — The prices are fair. — They’ve got character! — It’s convenient for my lifestyle. I don’t like having t schedule an appointment 4 weeks out. Parking: You can park in his driveway, FYI. That, in my eyes is a major bonus!

NK Salon & Tanning is terrible. It’s a trashy, low-maintenance dump that targets college kids with tanning packages and cheap cuts. While the deals are good, it is not worth your money. They offer poor to mediocre haircuts, and the tanning is just awful. The beds are very low quality, the A/C is non-existent, you clean everything yourself(and trust me, it NEEDS cleaning) and it’s just an overall horrible time. The staff is also very rude and obnoxious(although I admit a little entertaining at times) and I would never go back. I’ve gave this place a few tries, all of which went down in flames.

I’m a big believer in both patronizing local businesses and second chances, but my second go at NK Salon and Tanning was even worse than the first. First and foremost, let me say that the young lady who did my eyebrows(Amber) was a very kind, polite, respectful young lady who seems very passionate about what she wants to do. Her attitude, and her attitude alone is the only reason I didn’t completely lose my cool this past Saturday afternoon at the end of receiving my services.(To her credit, Amber really tried to engage me in conversation, and seemed to listen to what I wanted; the skill set just isn’t there yet). I paid my bill with no complaint because a service WAS rendered. I even tipped $ 3 because I felt that was what the service was actually worth. Crunched for time and desperate to have my eyebrows done, I made the fateful decision to re-visit NK Salon this past Saturday to have my eyebrows waxed. Being sure to avoid the individual who did them at the time of my last review, I was directed to a young lady who looked unsure about working with me. Again, the supposed brow expert at this place was too busy to actually DO brows, so my choices were limited(either the new girl, or the guy who didn’t listen to me the last time I was there). Long story short: the wax wasn’t hot enough(which made for an unnecessarily more painful waxing session), my eyebrows are OBVIOUSLY uneven(way too much off the top of one, and too much off the inside of another, which makes one brow length shorter than the other!), and since the young lady re-waxed certain sections, that oh-so-delicate skin on my eyelids is red, irritated, and burns when I wash my face. A full 24 hours following this, my latest eyebrow debacle at NK Salon, I have scabs… SCABS forming on my face in the immediate areas around both of my eyebrows. I’m new to Cincinnati and truly interested in patronizing local businesses, but after only having been here a few months I can say I am tired of receiving either sub-standard or mediocre service and having people expect it to be okay. No wonder everyone I meet says things like, «Oh, I go to Dayton for that,» or «Columbus isn’t that far away.» I’m sure NK Salon is good at a number of different things, but eyebrows simply isn’t on that list. Do not go here for eyebrow service.

This is the best eyebrow wax service I’ve run across. Bar none. I’ve been to quite a few Cinci locations for eyebrow waxing, and NK’s does it faster, cheaper, and more deftly than any other salon in the area. It never takes more than five minutes and I love the way that they shape my brows– nothing crazy or extremely pencil-thin, but not something I could achieve just on my own, either. I usually get it done only once a month because they do such a thorough and good job(i.e., they rarely use the tweezers because they’re so precise on the waxing). A side note on the virtues of eyebrow waxing, from somebody who didn’t grow up doing it: it’s the perfect pick-me-up if you want to change your look, but don’t want to go full-blown haircut and only have 5 – 10 free minutes. What’s more, it’s much cheaper than a haircut, and less extreme. If you haven’t tried it, i definitely recommend it. At this point, everyone on staff has done my brows once or twice, and I’ve been able to walk out looking great with a bare minimum of post-waxing redness. In fact, I often go there in the middle of the day and go back to work afterward. In short, NK’s gets an A+. It’s a little gem that you might overlook if you hadn’t heard this review!
