This Venue needs better security. Perhaps a metal locator upon entry placed in a secure area closed in with electronic door lock buzzers.

The whole 100% entrance fee cover for checking in on Unilocal was a joke. We went to Pulse last night expecting to use the coupon but guess what. The girl at the door said we can’t use them for the night because they were having a «special event» going on and the coupons weren’t applied to that. I continually asked her what special event that was, she just simply replied that she doesn’t know and because the manager said so. Like seriously, I feel like this whole free entrance thing is just a scam. My bf did not even want to argue with them so he went ahead and paid 10 $ for both of us. After we got into the club, we saw a few friends of ours and they said they used the coupons on Unilocal to get in, «for free». Seriously, Pulse, how do you guys explain about this? This was pretty much driving me crazy a whole entire night and i really didnt want to stay there any longer, we left after half an hour. Will never want to go back to Pulse, unless I have to for friends’ special occasions.

Pros 1. It’s a proper nightclub, with dedicated dance, upstairs vip, dj, smoking and rest areas. 2. Pretty spacious as it is a warehouse converted nightclub. 3. Low cover. 4. Friendly staff. Things I didn’t like about this place: 1. Boring and feeble crowd based on the fact that there were more people watching the dance floor than people who were«standing» on the dance floor. 2. Doesn’t matter how spacious or good the interior of the place is, if people who come there are unfriendly and mediocre it’s going to feel shitty. I must have talked to most of the girls while I was there but with a few exceptions almost all of them said«taken» or something similar, just as I approached them. An unintelligent assumption that to talk to them I was hitting on them girls just i approached them. Ever Since I came to Cincinnati I have seen his assumption a lot but it was even more prevalent at this venue. 3. The«head of security» came to me while I was trying to talk to his wife(I didn’t know that) and said«just wanna make sure you are not fucking with my wife». As if never seen a guy talking to girl at the fucking club. 4. Absolutely generic dance music, as if trying to play it safe. And the same was seen in the crowd, safe and extremely generic. Plus no mixing or any mashups, it felt like dj was just playing a mixtape and making some announcement here and there.

Pulse is your average American«night club.» Nothing is memorable, and on the other side of the spectrum, nothing caused me to immediately turn and leave. There are better and worse options in Cincy, and in the end, I would return to Pulse.

It’s a nice and large venue in a nice building with lots of parking; however, the music and crowd is not great. I guess my comparison and standard of Atlanta’s clubs versus Ohio’s clubs is not a fair comparison. I was very surprised that 18+ was allowed in the club on a Saturday night(where it’s not allowed in ATL). The staff is super friendly and personable when checking our IDs at the door. Parking is $ 2 for the Saturday night we visited. The great thing about this place — they don’t mark your hands with a marker; they give you wristbands to indicate that you’re over 21 to drink. When you walk in, you won’t see a thing except a few lights and the bar, other than that, it’s dark. There’s a second level, but no bar, which makes no sense to me what-so-ever. You would think the second level is «VIP». We didn’t hang out in that section at all. I also noticed that they have pool tables and lounges surrounding the dance floor which was pretty cool in a club. The reason why the review is so bad — the music was bad. I was not the only person to notice this as I saw numerous party-goers go up to the DJ stand to request better songs. Bad music just kills the vibe. Overall, I don’t see myself visiting this club again. I think there are better ones in Downtown Cincinnati.

The venue itself is worn out and shabby, dirty, and aesthetically unappealing. The DJ played mash ups, nothing impressive. The bartenders were very, very friendly and prompt, though, which pleasantly surprised me. Drinks were affordable and well prepared. Kudos, bartenders! The crowd was kinda weird… mostly really young people, some I couldn’t believe were even 18. Some dress like they were strippers, others like Bible salespeople, and others like they rolled out of bed. Nothing special, but not absolutely terrible.

This joint is sick if you like bbw and music from 5 years ago. It’s like going into a shitty time machine if you’re into that.

This is a challenging place to review, but here goes. For me, it was an awful experience because I lie outside the choice demographic. But for the audience this is aimed at, it hits the marks. The dress-code exists, but isn’t enforced. Coming from New York, dress codes are fun. Having no contest to an outfit makes it too easy. The venue is very beautiful outside, and the interior is decent too. A little sparse in terms of furniture. But you’re not there to sit– you come to dance. The music is trap, booty-bass, and rap. Don’t expect known DJ’s to spin or even true ‘dance’ music to play here. Thats just this type of club. Just like a jazz club won’t be playing Tyga’s ‘Make It Nasty’. But I like to dance, and I had my shot. I’m happy to say that people that come to dance go all out, pushing the by-standers out of the way. The dancing crowd definitely improvs off one and other and the energy was admirable. So. If you’re hoping to hear Todd Terje’s newest work or even Paul Oakenfold, move on. But if you’ll let go of your pretension and just drop it low in the Apple-bottomed robe for a few hours, maybe Pulse is your spot. Parking’s $ 2.

It is hard to provide a review on a dance club that appears to be popular with the early 20’s and teen crowd. We came earlier than we should have, and the crowd was very, very young. Nothing wrong with that, but if you are looking for a bit older age group, then Pulse may not be the location for you. The music was good and was not abnormally loud for the space. If you have sensitive ears, I do recommend wearing ear plugs. The staff are friendly and the bartenders did a good job keeping up with drink orders for the time that we were there. I would recommend coming later to Pulse — it seemed to pick up around 11:00 — 11:30 a bit, but was empty/dull before that.

There are only a few, what I consider, dance clubs in this city. Gone are the days of Have a Nice Day Café, Bar Cincinnati, Red Cheetah, and many others. The lifetime of most dance places is usually a few short years before the next hot place emerges, at least in Cincinnati. All that said, it’s nice to have a place where at least a few hundred people can get crazy and shake their stuff and just have a good time. I remember when this location was Oscar’s, Motion and then I think Club 7. Anyways, I recently went here for a friend’s birthday. I’ll fully admit that I am not really in the age range for this place, but I went knowing that and in the frame of mind to have a good time, at least for a hour. I called beforehand and mentioned that our group of 15 would be coming shortly and politely asked about a guest list/cover and the man actually put our group on the guest list. I was pleased with how smoothly that went. When I entered I was wristbanded and then was hit with the loud bumping music. I loved it. The dancefloor was a sea of moving people with Kiss107’s DJ in charge of the music. The club is two stories with the upper area overlooking the main floor. It’s great for those that want a bird’s eye view of the dancefloor or just want to chill and not be on the dancefloor. I had a lot of memories come back to me as I recalled my younger days as a crazy college guy and some of the experiences my friend’s and I had here in the club’s former iterations. #goodtimes Memories aside, I bought a drink at the bar and the bartender was quick and the price was on the low side for bars. The bathrooms are nothing special but they are clean and there are enough to accommodate the large number of people. Parking does cost, I think it was 2 or 3 dollars, which is kind of annoying, but there is no where else to park in the area. I figure there are many that come by cab so that’s not going to be a problem with those people. Like any dance club, I recommend going with a group as there is always the chance that creepy people are on the prowl. Just watch your drink, wallet, and cell phone. There is a closed in patio for those wanting to smoke or just get some fresh air. I recently spoke with a otolaryngologist(try saying that 3 times fast)(ear nose and throat doctor, btw) who said that when you are exposed to loud noises found at bars, that taking a break is actually beneficial and will give your ears some recovery time. So… my advice, strike up a conversation with a hottie, buy that person a drink, walk outside while continuing the conversation, enjoy the fresh air, ask for the digits, and the rest is up to you… Good luck. I’d go back, even if I had to pay a cover($ 5 I think) and deal with a little bit of college age drama, ha ha.
