This one sets the BAR a little higher for your local pub. I love the beer selection this place offers. Mug night on Wednesday and several other themed nights provide a reason to grab a beer any time. FREEPOPCORN is going to make you thirsty and happy so just get some. The outdoor patio which is open year round is great for smokers and people who like the fresh air. Make this pub a stop sometime and you will surely be back.

I stopped by after work to grab a drink with some friends and I really liked this place! It has a great atmosphere and the décor is great! They also have free popcorn which is an added bonus. I would definitely come here again!

I really enjoyed coming here. I went with some friends to see a band and have some drinks. It’s a basic basic bar with standard stuff. I had a tequila on the rocks and several G&T’s. I asked the bar tender for some suggestions and all I got was tequila on the rocks so not the place to go if you are in the mood for cocktails. But, if you want a basic bar with a fun atmosphere this is your spot. It was very lively with lots of people, late 20’s early 30’s crowed but not what I would call«young professional» more of a young blue collar joint, which I like! They have some games upstairs(darts and maybe something else), live music a few nights a week and I did notice they have drink specials and a trivia night. I’d like to check out the trivia night! We had a waitress when we were upstairs and she was pretty darn good considering it was packed with young drunk people. She was really friendly and seemed like she was having fun which says a lot about a place. They have free popcorn too but I don’t like popcorn so I didn’t try it. I’ll be coming again for sure!

Trivia Night on Tuesday is awesome! Great host for trivia and two really good bartenders, not sure of their names, but Tuesday night trivia with these two good looking ladies is a fantastic.

I’ve actually stayed away from this place for years, partly because of the«Mug Club» crowd insisting this place is awesome because it has plastic cups with cheap beer. That is not a draw for me. Fortunately, that’s not what defines this bar. I found myself back in RP’s after years of staying away to see a friend in a band. It’s really a nice spot. Wasn’t too crowded but didn’t feel empty either. The gas fire pit out front was nice to stay warm on a cool night. The balcony is still a cool feature, and makes it a good spot to actually watch a band. Sure, it can be a pain to park, but that’s part of the charm of a neighborhood bar, right? It’s in a neighborhood.

Decent bar with something for everyone. They have live music on weekends, and there wasn’t a cover when we went, which was a nice surprise. Outside offers fire pits and TVs, inside has a nice balcony, more TV’s and lots of seating options. The beer variety is good as well. We live close enough to walk, so we haven’t had to deal with the parking issues. Overall, a solid option to watch sports, listen to live music, or just hang out. The balcony is also available to reserve without a charge, a nice option for a small event.

The live music was pretty good. It was quite loud so very difficult to have a conversation. Pretty typical Irish pub. I wouldn’t go out of your way to visit.

Best brunch in the city! Sunday’s only. The popcorn poutine is to die for! Chef Triska, aka the goetta princess, can go spoon do spoon with anyone in the city.

Fun dive bar with free popcorn, plus their name comes from main character in one flew over the cuckoos nest. Just avoid mug club after 9pm.

R.P. McMurphy’s is a really fun Irish Pub! We had gone to another local bar to watch the Ohio State game and it was not a good experience. We left there and headed to R.P. McMurphy’s and it was a good decision. The atmosphere was really fun for the game and they had a lot of beers on tap. There wasn’t a ton of seating so we had to search for a bit to score a table, but once we did we were quite comfortable. Definitely a fun night life atmosphere at R.P. McMurphy’s!

Funny story. I actually went here for the first time a few years ago hoping to chow down on a delicious Irish lunch. But, upon asking for their menu, I quickly found out they actually don’t serve food. Like, they don’t even have a kitchen. Whoops. But, even that setback hasn’t kept me from returning to this Hyde Park staple. Obviously, the main draw is Mug Club on Wednesdays — $ 5 for a mug(and fill), and $ 2 domestic and $ 3 premium draft refills after that. There’s also unlimited popcorn, which almost makes up for the fact there’s no kitchen. I recommend the outdoor patio — especially if you have a pup you’d like to bring along(but consider yourself warned because they kick dogs out a 9 o’clock). There are plenty of tables, TVs and heaters(for those chilly fall months) outside. There’s also a live band every Friday night, but there’s also a jukebox for hours of entertainment as well.

Made the mistake of coming here on Mug Club night. Good deal for a drink, but not worth the overly loud music, 10 minutes trying to get someone’s attention at the bar, and having to yell for anyone to hear me. Service was terrible — we had a waitress for about 5 minutes before she was nonexistant. Place is full of the under-25 crowd. There are better places to get a beer. Only come here if you want to relive the college bar night experience.

I have to say, I was hesitant to come here after my friends at Xavier claimed this was«one of their bars!!!» I’m not into sweaty bro’ed up college kids and last night(Monday) we visited and I was pleasantly surprised. Right away I noticed that this place reminded me of McClaren’s from How I Met Your Mother. It’s a neighborhood bar. Semi-divey but really clean and nice! There are two floors in what looks more like a house. There are cozy booths or you can pull up a seat at the bar. We chose to sit on the patio. Half of it is covered which was SO nice. It was raining, but still warm and it was so relaxing to sit out there and listen to the rain hit the roof. I can still hear it now… AND the best part? They have giant waterproof flat screens out there so you can watch the game. The drinks were cheap and strong just as you’d suspect. I got a titos and tonic and it was $ 5 bucks. I also got a $ 2.50 beer that was on special. The bartender was super friendly! I enjoyed chatting with him and I filled him in on how impressed I was with the place. He let me know about the infamous«MUGCLUB» On Wednesdays you buy a mug for $ 5 and the refills are $ 3. Domestic refills are $ 2.25. WHAT A STEAL! Now I guess I know why college kids flock to this place. I’m afraid to come on a Wednesday, but I am already wanted to come back here! Such a pleasant experience. Cheers!

Mug Night! Wednesdays are definitely the night to come! Buy a mug(it was $ 5 for me with my mug full of bud light) and the refills aren’t more than $ 3. Domestic refills are $ 2.25. They have free popcorn. They don’t have food but you are allowed to bring in outside food. Also a pizza truck often parks outside with very reasonably priced pizza. $ 3 a slice or $ 16 for a whole pizza. The only down side is it gets PACKED by 11. So get there early to get a table. I really enjoy their patio. They have waitresses that will get your refills for you when it gets really busy. Since we frequent mug night often we bring extra mugs so we always have a refill!

Two words — MUGCLUB. RP’s is a fun bar that serves cheap bar. Their best night of the week by far is Wednesday night, their infamous«Mug Club», where for $ 5 you can purchase a colorful mug and your first draft then subsequently get discounted drafts all night long. You are even encouraged to bring back your mugs, that way you can start with the discounted drafts to begin with! RP’s is definitely a bigger hit in the summer with their outdoor seating, but it is still a fun place to drink with a group of friends.

Fun bar especially on Wednesday summers. Mug Club are the only nights I have been here so I cannot speak for the others. Mug Club was a great deal $ 5 for a mug then $ 2 for a refill but they raised the prices to $ 3.25, now its an OK deal. But other than that it is a great time. Rain or shine in the summer expect a crowd and on a nice day the line to get in stretches down the block so come early and beat the rush. They have TV’s lining the outside and inside walls so you do not have to miss the Reds game. The inside has a second floor with tables and stools. A good way to avoid the line is to take advantage of the waitresses roaming around so bring cash. Also as a suggestion if you do use them you might want to sharpie your name on your mug since they all pretty much look alike. Help your self with some free popcorn.

Mug Club is every Wednesday night. $ 5 will get you a mug and your first draft beer. The subsequent beers are $ 3.25 domestic. The crowded-ness of the bar on these nights vary greatly. As a rule, if you get there by 9 you will avoid most of the lines. Lastly, the bartenders here are great. They might not always have big grins on their faces, but they’re always pleasant and fast!

What does the R.P. stand for? I am also hesitant of drinking establishments with initials in their title. What are they trying to hide? I like R.P. McMurphy’s Irish Pub, but I don’t love it. The set up is alright and the drinks are reasonably priced. There is often live music on the weekends. Reasons why I don’t love R.P.‘s 1. Cover charge sometimes — I hate covers 2. Sometimes the bands are to loud for the space — And I’m not old fuddy duddy 3. Sometimes there is a line to get in — Good for them but bad for me

A much nicer and larger bar than I expected. The place is clean and full of interesting movie and other entertainment memoribilia. The bartender was friendly and the beer selection is large enough for me. They can also serve smaller glasses which makes sampling the different beers easier. As Kara boldly proclaims, there is free popcorn which I didn’t realize until I was leaving, probably for the best, as I eat that stuff like its my last meal. Parking might be tricky in this area on a busy night so plan accordingly. They often have live bands performing which can involve a cover charge… boo! I’ll have to return in the warmer months to try out the patio.
