Love Redbird Hollow for a nice fall hike. Trails arent too challenging but you can get a decent mileage in. Fairly well maintained with some nice water features. My HUGE complaint, as with many dog friendly places, is the amount of irresponsible owners. There is a clearly posted sign stating that your dog must be leashed at all times. More than half the people walking had their pets off leash and werent even paying attention. Luckily MOST people seem to pick up their dog waste, although a trash can on the other end of the trail instead of just at the start would be nice.

A beautiful nature area with a two-mile linear trail. a public resource because of the efforts of The Nature Conservancy, a national conservation organization. Great for hiking, running, walking. Extremely popular with local dog walkers, which is bad because most of them irresponsibly let their dogs run off leash. Dog poop has contaminated the lovely stream with dangerous levels of E. coli,(ironically making it unsafe for humans and dogs) and you’ll find their numerous«land mines» on the trail. I’ve seen some nasty dog fights there because the unleashed dogs run far ahead of their owners and confront other dogs and kill wildlife. I don’t think this is what a nature preserve is for. Would not be a bad idea to bring some mace for protection(against dogs).

Such a gorgeous spot. I go off leash with my dogs all year ’round. Super sweet, animal & nature-loving people appreciate this wonderful spot. To the dog owner who complained about dogs being off leash. PLEASESTAYAWAY. Take your poor dog to one of the hundreds of parks where leashes are required. It’s so wonderful for people and their dogs to be able to relax on this trail. People drop their metaphorical leashes to life for an hour or so, and our dogs romp and play with each other like kids, sometimes wandering into the creek and coming back to us all soggy and happy. Oh, I forgot, your dog probably isn’t allowed to get wet and dirty. Thank you to the wonderful Village of Indian Hill for protecting this oasis. Grateful Barb

This is such a lovely spot that I want to love, but folks let their dogs off leash which makes it hard for others like me to take my dog as she is quite skiddish. When I went the first time I didn’t know and I was standing off road by the creek and this ladies 2 dogs came running down towards me and my dog(who was on leash) jerked to get away as they came charging I was knocked backwards hyper extending my elbow which took about 3 months to heal, and the lady didn’t even come down to get her dogs or see if I was ok. I could have been hurt worse. Please leash your dogs out of respect for others who have the same right to hike with their dog, and so someone else doesn’t get hurt.

What a great hidden gem. Located in Indian Hill, Red Bird Hollow follows what was once a commuter rail line. As a result, this is a one way in, one way out hiking path rather than a loop. Just something to keep in mind if you’re on a time constraint. The path and preserve are absolutely stunning. The path runs parallel to a creek setting a lovely soundtrack to a hike alternating between bubbling rapids and peaceful trickling of water. It was pretty busy the day we were there, but more often than not we had the trail to ourselves. It looks to be a pretty dog friendly path as well. There are some side trails that lead down to the creek and you can see artifacts from the trail’s history. We spotted an old chimney and foundation on the far side of the creek. We hiked probably two thirds of the trail and back in about an hour and a half taking time to check out some of the side paths.

Great location for pets. Off leash. I love trails that are off the beaten path. It’s not overcrowded. I would recommend wearing comfortable/hiking shoes. It’s not rocky, but it is not smooth(not pavement). I love coming here on the weekend mornings. It’s quiet, peaceful and my pet frenchie loves it. One of my favorite walking spots. I would say it’s roughly 2 – 3 miles long.
