Walked into Ritchie’s with my sister expecting the worse and was greeted by a really pleasant woman who appeared to be management. Fresh food and great customer service is why I’ll be back. I ordered the cod with Mac n cheese yams and greens

Welcome to my neighborhood, Richie’s!!! Although it’s only been open a few weeks– immediately it became the hottest place around for fried chicken (sorry KFC). It does not matter what time you go by– the parking lot is full and there is standing room only inside (so it appears!).
My husband does not enjoy standing in lines, no matter how rewarding the end of the line may be. Based on all appearances– I knew I MUST try this fried chicken, so I went to get carry out. Upon entering– it looked like the line was snaking around the entire store– but the other patrons quickly pointed out that the line was much shorter– they were all waiting for their food. With only 4 people in front of me– my order was taken relatively quickly. They have the option of both regular and spicy chicken, along with several side items, and a few desserts.
For myself– I ordered a 3-​piece spicy chicken with red beans and rice and green beans. My husband had the regular 3-​piece chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and corn on the cob. They didn’t ask white or dark meat– which somewhat surprised me. I moved to the side and waited, along with everyone else. It took about 20 minutes from entering Richie’s to receive my food.
I received a drumstick, thigh, and wing. The spicy breading was thicker than what I am used to, but held just the right amount of spice! It was SOOO good. We did not share– but my husband enjoyed his chicken thoroughly, too.
The red beans and rice are delicious, with the red beans much more firm than any other place I’ve tried it. Mmmm. Hubby loved the corn on the cob, as an option.
The only things keeping this from a 5 star review was #1– they forgot to give me my fried mushroom order. (I KNOW I should have double checked– but I didn’t and was very disappointed when I got home). #2– both of us were disappointed with one of our sides. Hubby said the mashed potatoes/​gravy was lackluster and he does not want that again, which is exactly how I felt about the green beans. They tasted straight out of a can. Luckily– they have many other sides we can try!
I definitely will return (and double check my order). Honestly– I’m already looking forward to it!
