Scratching Post

The Scratching Post is an absolute must if you are thinking about adopting a cat. They unlike other shelters, do not interrogate you and make you pass a ridiculous interview to be able to adopt a cat. It’s impracticle to do such a thing when so many homeless cats need a decent home.
A lot of their cats are listed on Petfinder, which is nice to get a little background on them before you decide to visit. The employees and volunteers were all very friendly and helpful. I was lent a cat carrier to take a cat home.
What I loved the most about this shelter is that they provided a free vet appointment with a nearby animal hospital. Not only that, but when I discovered that our shelter cat required all of his teeth to be pulled, The Scratching Post covered the expenses! There were no words to describe what that meant to my husband and I at the time. We had just lost a well loved cat of ours a few months prior and poured our entire life savings into trying to save his life.

We adopted our cat from the Scratching Post. The cats looked very well cared for and the staff knew their personalities. We wanted to bring a cat (not a kitten) into a house with 4 large, but sweet dogs. They recommended a specific cat and he adapted beautifully right away to the dogs. We would definitely adopt from them again. It is really helpful that they understand each of the cat’s personalities.

This is where I adopted my absolutely precious cat Maddie. The owners really love cats & you can tell. The cats can roam around in their designated rooms. The cats are very well socialized & aren’t afraid of people & aren’t constantly hissing at each other.
The adoption fee is very reasonable (around $ 75 or less) & your kitten is already spayed/​neutered & comes with all or the majority of his/​her shots.
