I ventured over to the west side to check this place out. Recommended by a co-worker, I felt I needed to make the trip. I was a little stressed about trying to find that one piece to complete my Halloween costume and had already been to several local vintage stores. That one awesome piece needed to make the final touch, found it! This store is large and filled with all kinds of second hand goodies. Everything from the standard used house goods, shoes and clothes that people have either outgrown or is slightly outdated. I even found a few actual real vintage pieces too! Be patient, its also very busy and parking can be a challenge. I found the perfect vintage jacket and only paid 3 dollars for it. Yep, you read that right. It was very much worth the trip. Maybe I shouldn’t be sharing this… No, you don’t want to go here. Stay away, far far away. It’s mine, all mine. ;)

Évaluation du lieu : 5 Newport, TN
On a recent trip to visit family we stumbled upon this Western Hills gem while searching for used books. Wow! Snazzy! Organized! Friendly talkative staff! I’m impressed! Now granted, I’m living in the sticks near the sort of poverty belt right now(eastern TN) where access to thrift stores is usually limited to the kinds of places where you take one look /sniff and run out the door fast. So I approached with my usual high-alert caution ready to bolt — But everything about this SVDP store said Welcome. Great lighting, no stank, a fantastic array of books(many brand new) though entirely unsorted and we didn’t have time to stand and go through rack after rack of them. I wandered over to the handbag section. Time was limited, I had like 10 minutes. After the first cursory scan yielded 1 brand new with tags designer purse for $ 3.99 and a to-die-for Anne Klein shopper in perfect condition for $ 12.99, I panicked. My 99-year-old MIL was parked in the van waiting and here I was stumbling over other shoppers in a treasure chest. It felt like one of those game shows where people run around with shopping carts trying to fill them up in 60 seconds. After overcoming the undignified and un-Cincinnati-like surge of raw greed, my rational mind reasserted itself and I came away with some real bargains. Well my eyes may have been darting around while I was in the checkout line — the tons of clothing and housewares looked great — but I managed to keep it together. Until the clerk told me all the bags were BOGO. Argggh! Why couldn’t I have just a few more minutes… D: Thanks Cinci for another great find, and jazz-hands applause to the great management team at Western Hills St. Vincent de Paul and the SVDP organization for all the wonderful things you do. I’ll be back, this time with donations.
