The Art of Shaving

The store is beautifully presented, the dark wood panelling gives it an old fashioned vibe which is very appealing. The staff are friendly and helpful, although when trying to do a return there was some confusion but it was handled well. I have to say I was a little put off by being asked to write a review on Unilocal within 5 minutes of being in the store, I am always happy to write a review but dont feel the need to be asked as soon as I arrive, it felt a little pushy and this store doesnt need that kind of enviroment, it kind of speaks for itself.
I do however love their products and that will bring me back time and time again.

Drove over from Indiana with my wife and daughter so they could shop and on one of my trips from the car, I noticed The Art of Shaving store. I had all kinds of questions, and Alex was able to answer them all. I am very satisfied with all my purchases. My first shave with them was great. If you have questions, Alex is the man to ask.

This place is top notch for all your shaving needs. It is very nice to have a place that focuses on high quality products mostly for men. Staff is always very professional and knowledgable and you will leave with a much greater knowledge of the «Art of Shaving». Toss the disposables and multiple blade gimmick of the day and rediscover how functional the simple can be. I highly recommend giving the shave oil a try. It makes a huge difference in the shaving experience.

To Darnell– Love you. Love the experience. The service is top notch. Your work as a master is the best. If anyone has not experienced the process, you should treat yourself.
Talk about an old school, classic place– this is it! From the minute you sit down with him, you are at ease. You can talk, discuss, and plain out relax. I would reccomend any of his services, haircuts, shaves.

Great products for shaving a tough beard, although you can buy their products at other stores cheaper. Steve H. You probably dulled yor razor stropping it wrong-​it is an art-​pun intended. If its dull it needs to be resharpened. Check out
they have a sharpening service and other great products for traditional shaving. Hope this helps, good luck.

I have been a faithful client of this shop since they opened. I would have given a higher rating except the store, since Joe’s departure, cannot seem to keep a barber.
What gives?

I’m usually not the kind of person that gets too upset about bad service, but was really put off by the staff. Two of them were just chatting behind the register while the store had quite a few customers in it. The one staff who was actually talking to customers helped everyone who walked in after me, then looked at me, walked a few steps away then turned around to help me. It was really rude and made me feel actively ignored. I was set on buying a safety razor today but just walked out after that. I don’t want to give anybody so bad at giving customer service a commission.

I treated my husband to a Royal shave with Joe for his 40^th birthday. He emerged from the barber chair with his head and face freshly shaven and smooth. He was calm as a cucumber after being clay masked and hot toweled. He has very sensitive skin and there was not a bump in sight. A great gift for any guy!

Everyone knows that Kenwood Mall is kinda snobby. No matter how nicely or poorly I dress, I know there’s a strong likelihood that the sales associates in the stores I visit will either not ask if I need any help or, if they do ask, they’ll have a fearful look in their eyes that says, «When did they start allowing poor people in here?»
I went six for six on not being offered any help when walking around the other stores in Kenwood. (Seven for seven if you count the free sample girl at Teavana choosing to avoid eye contact rather than me a free sample.) Needless to say, my expectations for sparkling customer service at Art of Shaving were already low.
Still, it hurt that the middle-​aged couple who walked into the store in front of me were greeted warmly and waited on patiently while I received the same «Holy smokes, poor folk!» look that I’d gotten before. I intentionally wandered around the store for longer than I would have otherwise, hoping that the salesperson would at least ask me how I was doing. No dice. Frankly, Art of Shaving is way too small of a store to ignore one of the three people shopping there.
Nothing in that store was so expensive that I couldn’t have afforded it. In fact, there were several things that I wanted and was kicking around the idea of getting but decided not to because of the fact that I was ignored from the moment I walked in. I understand that salespeople need to focus on the customers they think are ready to buy instead of those who are there to look around, but how can you tell when you don’t even bother to give ALL your customers the courtesy of a smile and a friendly greeting?
For anyone who reads this review and wonders if I’m holding Art of Shaving responsible for the upturned-​nose culture at Kenwood Mall, the answer is «No.» But since they’re one of the newest kids on the block, I would hope that they’re the most likely to change. Maybe this crappy review will help them to. Next time, do yourself a favor and don’t ignore the guy who’s ready, willing, and able to drop $ 100+ in your store. Better yet, don’t ignore anybody.

The Art of Shaving is a new store that just opened up in Kenwood Mall. It is a P&G owned store and stocks supplies such as essential oil, and botanical based mens shaving, skin care, and hair care products, plus handmade razors, shaving brushes, and shaving accessories.
In the back room right behind the counter there is a barber chair and they accept appointments for shaves, hair cuts etc.
I stopped in here on Saturday night for a friends graduation present, the store was busy and only had two people working, but they were efficient. I perused around the store checking out all the supplies and they do have a lot of different creams and shaving supplies.
After not making my mind up about a specific gift, I decided to get my buddy a gift card so he can decide. The sales associate that helped me was very nice and outgoing, she gave me her card for my friend and said for him to call if he wants to make an appointment or such.
I know a lot of people in Cincinnati are making comments like do we really need a high end shaving store, well it is placed in the right mall to succeed.
