One star for the awesome wait staff, another star for the convenience factor if you’re staying at Double Tree. Two and a half stars, at best was my breakfast experience here. I was tagging along on a business trip with my husband, and we decided to just go to breakfast at the hotel. What were we thinking?! We know I dislike hotel breakfast buffets in general. With that said, I’ve had several positive hotel breakfast buffet experiences, just not here. My husband decided to go with the $ 14.95 breakfast buffet, nothing on the buffet looked appealing, so I ordered the $ 12.95 steak and eggs. The buffet included scrabbled, boiled and eggs made to order, bacon, link sausage, cereal, yogurt… you get the point. I ordered my strip steak medium well, but it came out more like a well done temp. It was a bit too fatty for my liking too. My eggs came out with what looked like a beard hair right on the whites. We were dining with a group, so I didn’t say anything about it. Some of the people in the group got cards for free breakfast buffets when they checked in at the hotel, but some didn’t… weird. I guess it depended on the package or your frequency points. Whatever the way, they can keep their card and their breakfast.

Nope. I stay here often and decided to give it a shot. For my money, there are too many other good options close by to choose this over them, even if it’s a short walk down the hall. Limited selection, higher than market prices, and slow service.

Ok, expensive basic hotel food. I had the special, salad, bacon wrapped filet and cheesecake. The salad was very good and very fresh. The filet was straight out of a Foodservice package, not fresh. Onion rings and cheesecake also Foodservice pre-pack. My companion was served soup in a fancy coffee drink glass… bizarre.

Dinner was fairly tasty for a hotel restaurant. Service was friendly, prices were a bit high … but all in all, solid. I wouldn’t go out of my way, but if you’re already at or near the Doubletree, you could do much worse. Grilled salmon with mango salsa was cooked nicely but wow was it over salted!(Note: I absolutely love and adore salt, so when I say oversalted, I mean it.) The crab cake was massive and chock full of crab, although not as many jumbo lumps as we’d hoped. Chop house salad was a fine salad, Yukon gold potato casserole was a very good version of mashed potatoes + cheese + bacon.

Breakfast is good for hotel fare & included for Diamond members. Dinner was good for a hotel. I would say a solid 3.5 today, they say the steaks are award winning. Maybe next time…
