I visited The Pottery Place on a Friday afternoon with some friends and their toddlers. Blink and you can miss it. It’s actually located behind what appears to be an apartment complex. Friday afternoon, the studio fee is half off, which was a plus. The kids had a blast, and a week later we got a pretty looking bowl. A total surprise considering my little one was more into mixing colors than painting. I’m a little bummed because the bowl has already chipped, which I feel is odd. I have other ceramic from paint your own studios and I don’t feel like they were as fragile, but meh, it’s ceramic and I have a toddler, so it’s likely me and not their ceramic. We were the only people in the space, though a teen did come in to pick up her fired ceramic. There were two staff members on hand. One was incredibly helpful. She patiently got the handprints of my 2 month old immortalized on a ceramic plate. The other appeared to be the queen bee and just sat at the register the whole time. Ummm… we were a party of 11. I think it would have been helpful to have both ladies helping us, but whatever, the one girl was fabulous. They also look like they do parties and classes. I’d definitely come back, maybe even without the kids…
