Great food, large portions. Almost everything on the menu was great except the chaats; go someplace else for that. Mango lassi was one of the best I’ve ever had between Chicago &DC. However, the service was slow and they brought out the entrees separately. We were a party of 10 and by the time the last 2 people got their food, everyone else was done eating.

Great vegetarian Indian. Had their south indian thali and masala dosa for lunch. Awesome flavors and very filling. Can’t wait to have a chance to go back.

Vada was not fresh and Dosa was little bit above average. Not a authentic South Indian food.

Good food if you order South Indian dishes. Service and ambience was below my expectation.

Best south Indian food that I have eaten in the US so far. Love this cuisine. My favourites are filter caapi(coffee), masala idli, mysore dosa, andhra dosa, spring dosa, rassam, tomato soup. Pretty much everything is amazing here. I go here almost every Sunday! ;-)

I eat here every once and a while for their $ 8.99 lunch special and it is wonderful. It is not your traditional buffet, you order a menus option which has six small dishes, rice &2 breads but you get unlimited refills. This sounds odd but it is a wonderful way to dine allowing you to try things you wouldn’t know to order otherwise. My personal favorite is the Chana masala it is unbelievable.

This place was just fabulous. I’m so looking forward to the next time I can come here! We went quite early(minutes after they opened at 11:30am on a Sunday) and we were the only people in the place for a little bit. The menu online is *not* the entire menu, which made my choices even harder. The first dish I chose, the waiter said the filling had been pre-made and it was very, very spicy, so I ended up ordering the vegetable makhani at a spice level of medium. My dining partner got the vegetable omelette, which was really more of a chickpea pancake with vegetables. The makhani was a little spicier than I usually get dishes(I’m normally a spice wimp), but the yogurt sauce that accompanied it cooled it down and was refreshing. We both really liked the vegetable omelette and when we looked it up for calories, were quite pleased to see that it’s a relatively low calorie dish! I ended my meal with the hot Indian spiced tea, which was piping hot and spicy(as advertised) with just a touch of creaminess! Perfect!

Ambiance — ok, service — quick and efficient, menu variety — good, food — great! Recommend Mumbai Pav Bhaji and Gobi Manchurian. The special tea is excellent and reasonably priced.

For food 4* and extra* for service :) They opened recently and able to survive near Brijmohan which has its own customer base. Because of their food taste and superb service by the boys & the owner. Mostly i eat Dosa their which I like very much. I like their spring dosai. Also i like paneer kadai, paneer mutter. Their south indian thali is also good with lot of options. Though they make good curries, i never liked their Naan. Its hard and not that tasty. Hope they will improvise. Good luck. Definitely recommend others.

Started off as a good south Indian food place. The last 2 times food tasted way below average. Not sure if i am going to try the third time anytime soon.

There are few Indian restaurants that serve real homemade authentic favors especially on the vegetarian front. We went as a family on a Sunday brunch and tried tons of food.(8 people) try the street food and the dose for those more adventurous go for the thali/tray meal. Will be all the time after how amazing the flavor really turned out. Be prepared to wait on the weekends and it is difficult to set up groups of more than 6. Water is served room temp make sure to ask for ice if that’s your preference.

I was there last month and honestly, the food was just OK for me. It is the typical traditional south Indian fare, and there are some«chaat» or street food offerings. I ordered a dosa and it was served cold. The chaat was good. I think, I still prefer Amma’s kitchen for South Indian cuisine and Brij Mohan for Chaat …

Food Coma. That’s what you’ll be in after a lunch at Udupi Café! I recently went to Upupi for lunch with a handful of co-workers. Their lunch specials are crazy– both delicious and very ample servings. I got the«express lunch» and couldn’t come close to finishing it– I ended up taking over half of my dosa(sp?), basically a savory Indian crêpe, the leftovers served as my lunch the following day. Another co-worker got the South Indian lunch special, it came with a variety of items served in small bowls, along with some rice and choice of curry. It looked great, and is definitely on my list to try upon my next return. In short: great food, economical lunch specials, huge servings, I’ll be back!

Pretty tasty! There seems to be a consensus among my Indian friends that this place is pretty legit for south Indian food(i.e. dosas). Their dosas are HUGE. I got the Express lunch, which sounds quick and dirty, but it is actually a feast. I chose the Special Spring dosa, which comes stuffed with tons of veggies/chutney/potatoes(unless you choose to have your dosa on the side, but why would you?). Since I was famished walking in, I thought I could totally finish it, but trust me it’s quite filling. I ended up feeling like I could run a marathon after getting back to the office. My friend got a Bombay street food– it was quite delicious, but unfortunately I don’t recall the name. I just remember a word that sounded like«dothraki» kept popping up in our conversations… …which is to say you should definitely come here with Indian friends so you’ll know what to order, even if you leave still wondering what you just ate. It’s all good!

Came here for lunch after having passed by and noticing this place had replaced the Indian Sweets restaurant it once was. I believe it started with an A??? It’s been more than a year since I last came to this particular location, when it was the old place, and it has definitely changed. No more buffets and no more desserts counter. They did a complete 180 and are now a South Indian restaurant with all the little bowls! My favorite Indian and so reminiscent of the first time I had Indian food. They don’t refill immediately like my memory serves, but its an $ 8 lunch and quite a bit of food, you shouldn’t go hungry, especially since I couldn’t even finish it. I don’t know if this place is owned by the previous owners or what connection it was, it could just be a coincidence and the convenience of the facilities, but this place is delicious and the price is reasonable. it isn’t too busy at 12PM and the setup is somewhat fancy dining style with the napkins and glasses, but it’s not pretentious at all and the owner knows what he’s talking about. One of the waiters though… had no idea what he was doing… step it up dude.

We got the South Indian thali and a dosa. The dosa wasn’t too spicy as they sometimes can be and was pretty darn good overall. It was crisp and stuffed thick with filling. Even better? It was the same price and more food than your average fast food value meal. My South Indian thali had an array of beautifully arranged dishes, most of which were outstandingly delicious. The okra was a little mushy, but aside from that, the sambar, dal, halva, and other dishes were spectacular. The tea was rather bland. Overall though, almost every cup had something delicious to offer! I dig it. Udupi Café, I’ll be back to try your other thalis and a lot of your dosas!

Excellent food, very reasonable prices, ambience is a little dull but I don’t mind as long as they continue serving the delicious food. Will definitely recommend and surely be back again soon
