There are few comic book stores as awesome as Up Up & Away… but now, its glitzy second location does its originator(still in Cheviot) something better… in Blue Ash. Just off the 71 Fwy, Pfieffer exit, on the hill west of the BP station. The new location has so much, including POP! art vinyl figures I have never seen before… Leeloo in white bandages from The Fifth Element anyone? Beautiful space, broken down into kids, collectibles and lots and lots of MARVEL stuff to drool over. Love that this store is closer to where I live, in Mason. Well done Kendall! Love the new digs!

This location just opened near my work! They are still putting comics and other items up on the walls, but when we visited, we loved it. If you like comics, Legos, or similar items, I highly recommend. Also, if anyone you know loves those POP! collections, they have more figurines in one place than I’ve ever seen.

I think my husband may have died and gone to heaven. The wifey had a craving for cupcakes(see my prior Abby Girl review… already there for a repeat visit) and he decided to tag along. I think the fact that he hadn’t had lunch yet probably helped his decision to go since there are quite a few restaurants near the cupcake shop. We turned off of 71 and I glanced at a sign stuck in the grass that advertised a new comic book shop in the plaza where we’ve had really good Japanese food for(must get to writing them a review). I promised him we could stop on the way back and we did. Wow… this place is impressive. I think it used to be a Drees design center, so everything looks pretty clean & modern. There is a place for kids to kind of hang up out front, next to a wall of Pop! figures… including one that my husband has been looking for for quite some time(Malcolm Reynolds… they had 2!). Don’t ask me why he didn’t pick it up, I think it was just sensory overload for him. Beyond the kids’ area is a room for boxes of Legos(huge Lego artwork of of a couple of comic book covers) and displays of figures, including some of the DC Comics Femmes Fatale 40s style figures that I have been eyeing. Harley is already on the back of my car! There is a bust of the Ironman suit(sorry I’m not enough of an expert to know what version) prominently displayed in the middle of the store, very cool. The back part of the store is somewhat divided up into character sections… having both comics & memorabilia for Batman, Superman, Wolverine, etc… and to the joy of my husband, Deadpool. They have a separate room housing more expensive editions in protective covers, but most everything else is out for perusal. If you are looking for boxes and boxes and boxes of comics to have to flip through, this is not the place for that… at least for now. Maybe they will add tables later, I have not been to their flagship store in Cheviot. But if you are looking for a store that truly serves a comic book geek that likes both items to read and items to display, look no further. I think my husband is trying to figure out what to sell(they buy stuff too!) so that he’ll have more money to spend here and I saw his mind at work as we browsed, jotting things down on his mental Christmas list.
