Awesome bartenders and ambiance… They are moving location to provide a more upscale atmosphere… so stay tuned

I love the atmosphere of this place! It is low-lit and has the typical swanky wine bar feel. You can take a table for privacy or sit at the not-too-crowded bar. I love the dark décor. Wine bars generally are overpriced and this one doesn’t disappoint. That is why I rarely go to wine bars despite the fact that I love wine. They charge $ 10 for a glass from a bottle that costs $ 15. I know you are paying for the experience, but I don’t need the experience that much. One thing that I loved that was totally out of place in a wine bar was the popcorn machine! I was starving when I got there and it was incredibly welcome. My husband tried to order port wine and though there were three on the menu, they had none in stock. Port wine isn’t so uncommon and you do have it on the menu— it should be in stock. The bartenders were not very attentive and seemed annoyed to have to serve us. I would probably not go back here when there are so many wine bar options in Cincinnati.

Glass of Wine Getaway! Who wants to have just another wine experience, when you can have a Mt. Adams wine experience. Let me setup the outside impression before we even walk into this business. A very small upper class town on top of a hill in Cinncinnati. Breathtaking views of the entire downtown area from almost every corner. Then on the business strip there is located several bars and restuarants to suit every genre. Taxi’s line the street after 10pm for those needing a ride home. At night there is a strong college vibe with dancing and beers during the day is the laid back successful college graduate crowd that prefers to have their local wine bar’s close to their local church. Now on to the Wine Cellar. I was surprised to walk in and see the selection of wines compared to the social space. This owner did a great job of making sure after you chose your bottle selection you would be in an environment that would encourage you to mingle. There are a few tables if you are looking for a more intimate experience. There are only light snacks of a popcorn machine, cheese, crackers, and french sausage so plan on eating before going wine deep. The price per glass was very reasonable to the vintage. There was only one person working when we went in and even though it looked like the beginnings of a bridal shower, he still was able to give us good service. Although, we didn’t take up a lot of questions asking about wine taste and type. We went on a Saturday afternoon in the fall and stopping into this Wine Cellar was in perfect pace to feeling romantic, connecting with my partner, and enjoy the city.

COULD be a great place for a party… I hosted a party there, and the owner was extremely flexible and great to work with. Even though they serve cheese, etc — he let me bring in my own and provided all the supplies I needed to serve. He let me set up a tab for what I wanted to pay for and worked with the bartenders so that they knew what I had purchased and what my guests were«allowed» to drink… Only problem is, he was this flexible with another group. On the same night. The small area we had reserved has two parties and there just wasn’t enough room. I still have no idea if their drinks were on my tab or if they somehow managed to keep it straight(doubtful). Maybe I’m the only one this has happened to(besides the other guy with a party there that night) but definitely ruined my opinion of the place.

I’ve been coming to Wine Cellar for years! The atmosphere is ‘chill’ and just a great place to hang out your friends and listen to some live tunes. They carry a vast selection of liquors and beers but most importantly, wines! I used to grab a bottle of wine or two to take home at the end of the night because their selection is always incredible.

Wine Cellar offers a variety of wines by the glass and bottle that can accommodate most budgets. On weekend nights there is usually live music and I have always found it to be entertaining. The crowd in Wine Cellar is much different than in most other Mt. Adams bars, but not in a bad way. People are generally older, appropriately dressed and more sophisticated acting, which I appreciate. And the best part… FREEPOPCORN!

Despite living right down the hill from Mt. Adams, it took me more than six months of living in Cincinnati before I came here to try some wine. I’ve walked an ran past a number of times, but it never struck me to stop in. Located on the main drag in Mt. Adams, Wine Cellar is a quaint little place that you might not even notice when you walk by. The inside is dimly lit and is finished with wood. The first thing you’ll notice when you walk in is how different the clientele is than most other places in Mt. Adams. The hair is more gray(or even white), the clothes are nicer, and the discussion is much more subdued. Frankly, in Mt. Adams, I’ll take this over frat bro fists pounds and beer shotgunning any day. The walls are lined with bottles of wine, all of which can be purchased and drank there. We bought a bottle to split between four of us and just relaxed. They have a pretty good selection of wine, albeit they seem significantly marked up. Would I come back? I doubt it. Unless it’s with a meal, I’m more of a wine at home type guy. The mark ups are a bit high for a retail/sit in hybrid and it just isn’t my scene. If it’s still open in 30 years, perhaps it will be my scene, but until then, I’m just not fancy enough to drink in a room that is lined with yacht club flags.

Great selection, friendly service. A more mature, but mixed age crowd amongst the younger scene in Mt. Adams.

one of the weirdest moves of the 21st century occurred at Wine Cellar. i ordered beer. whaaaaat. i am the wine queen… what was i thinking? due to the fact that this was a relatively drunken night night out in the ‘nati, i can forgive myself. it was valentine’s day, and they had massive bowls of butterfinger hearts, fruity tootsie rolls, and twizzlers for the taking. i’d like to suggest that they always do this. but i’d also like to suggest that, for the sake of coach purses everywhere, they should not allow drunk girls to stuff their purses full of said candy, ruining the interior when they later abandon their purse on their friend’s living room radiator in favor of playing with a cat. which they are allergic to in the first place. i’d also like to suggest that white turtleneck dresses be banned from Wine Cellar, because a) no one looks good in them even when they have a jennifer aniston friends-era haircut, and b) do not go to a wine bar in a white dress unless you want merlot spilled directly on your crotch by accident because the cover band is rocking out to counting crows. oh my god that spill was horrific… it really looked like a period explosion. but what was she thinking, wearing that dress? happy valentine’s day, here’s some red! oh man.

This is a nice feature in Mt. Adams. It is cozy but can fit a good number of people. They have a casual, laid back atmosphere. They have a jukebox with a good selection of music. They have a full bar, with what they claim is the largest selection of specialty martinis, single malt scotch, and bourbon in Mt. Adams. I am likely to agree with them on this point. They have over 50 wines by the glass with some unique wine selections. They also have over 50 imported and domestic beers. If alcohol is not your thing, they have a selection of non-alcoholic beverages as well. They host private parties, they have wine tasting events and in February 2009 they are having live music regularly. If you live in the area, or are stopping by and want to pick up some wine or beer to go, they have a wide selection available for retail sale. One small note: they do still allow smoking, but there should be enough room to move away from this if it bothers you.
