Xavier University

Good small college that is run by the Jesuits. It has greatly changed over the recent years for the better. Nice new buildings and dorms and houses and shops. Xavier had bought up a lot of the nearby houses/​buildings. The new cafeteria is typical of other colleges; food stations. I received my MBA here many years ago at night; so need to add that for transparency. It has a nice feel as you walk through the campus.

Great school. Taken classes in multiple places and the level of engagement and discussion at xavier was never matched. Friendly caring campus and student body who and enjoyable basketball team to watch.

What can I say about my Alma Mater? I absolutely love this school! The class sizes are small (15 – 30), but growing as this school is becoming very popular. There are a few new buildings new for this semester (Fall 2010). The Hoff academic quad includes the new Williams College of Business (Smith Hall), and the Conaton Learning Commons (currently attached to the old library).
If you’re thinking of going here for undergrad I would seriously consider UC because it’s around $ 30K a year to go here. The benefits that come with a private school is that everyone knows each other, and you have more access to your professor. Most of the professors give you their cell phone number on the syllabus, and most are available anytime to help. Their is a math lab, and a language lab as well to help with your studies. There is also a gym on campus, as well as a track and other various sports fields.
Education-​wise, I felt like the quality of professors was higher here than at other schools. Most of my professors were highly intelligent and easy to get along with. I especially loved the theology, and philosophy departments. Psychology was also interesting as well.
I went here on the G.I. Bill, so If I was paying myself, I probably would’ve went to UC. I will say this, I had no problem getting a job. I was hired at a top firm before my junior year started! Xavier definitely has a name in the business world, and I believe if a firm is considering two candidates one from UC, or OU, OSU, etc. they will choose Xavier every time all things being equal (students with same grades). So in that sense maybe the extra cost is worth it? I can only tell you that I loved going here, and I’m not sure if it would’ve been the same at UC or another state school.
Oh, and then there’s the sports. You know that the Xavier basketball program is one of the top in the nation. Students get free tickets, but you usually have to camp for a few days for those. I’m not a sports fan so unfortunately I never attended a game. But people go really crazy for Xavier basketball in Cincinnati. Other than that, I wish whoever is reading this the best of luck in their future endeavors at this school or any other!

Recently graduated with an economics major from the Williams College of Business. The school itself is under renovation and should be complete within the next few years. The people I met will never leave my memory or heart, simply said the culture and people are AMAZING. However, the administration is lacking. Freshman year was told 1 month before my move in date that there would be 3 people living in a 2 person room. This wasn’t just for me but the whole campus. My senior capstone class was constantly one seat short of the number of students. These situations could be found all over campus from housing problems t an over crowded gym and classroom.

Our daughter attends xavier. First year and loves it. Sooo happy she attends this awesome university.

Our soccer team plays here on their field, and it’s a beautiful soccer field. It’s a pretty campus too.

I visited Xavier with my son last spring when he was making his final college plans. At that time, I thought Xavier needed some modernization, new buildings, etc. I’m happy to see in the media that much of that is going on now!
The campus was a comfortable size and I felt like from the tour the staff and faculty are very dedicated and caring. I’m sure the Cintas Center is a big plus to the campus and much more is to come!
I know my son was concerned at the time about the lack of housing available on campus for upper level students. Don’t know if that’s been resolved or if it’s even an issue for upperclassmen.

I went here for undergrad for history and art history. It’s a great school. I lived in the dorms/​apartments for all four years. The campus has been undergoing a facelift in the past couple of years with new buildings, dorms, and facilities. I had wonderful teachers and they have a great library. I’m a Muskie! Go Muskies!
