Many years ago Ben Goodkind sold us an annuity and several other financial instruments. When my husband became ill and I called for financial advice, more so to find out about liquefying assets, I was told he «had concerns for my soul and I should really speak with his wife for help with spiritual guidance». Ultimately we ended up losing a lot of money on a poorly structured annuity and loaded mutual funds because my husband was asleep at the wheel and I was overwhelmed. IMO that does not negate the lack of fiduciary responsibility I found at this firm when I really needed financial, NOT«spiritual» guidance. I have since learned how the market works and watch my own portfolio everyday, plus I have made other investments that no one else has their fingers in. NOONE will take care of your money for you, unless they have a personal stake in growing your pile bigger. Ask the right questions about how these middle men get paid.
