Went in this morning lucky to not have my 3 kids and hear Lorelei Carlson cover of Nirvanas Rape Me playing over the loud speaker by the time I got my phone out to start video taping the song was over. I will be contacting corporate per this matter and never shop there again if they want to promote that message. I AM DONE WITH SAFEWAY!

This review is for the pharmacy. The pharm techs nor the manager could figure out how to bill the Family PACT program insurance. They kept insisting that they needed info that would be only for private insurances. Spent more hours of time here and several calls to the provider who said that the prescription was accepted. Why they couldn’t call the provider directly to resolve this issue was beyond me. When we got home we noticed they entered my insurance ID number wrong. They were supposed to call the provider directly after we already wasted hours of our time… apparently never did. Now we’ll have to use another pharmacy. Thanks a lot guys.

I love this store! But I was there about 9 this am and in line behind 3 people with people behind me! There is a sign saying when there is more than 3 in line, they will open another checker! I was going to ask that when I got up there, but a guy got on the intercom to have someone open, he then opened and called me over! I asked why the other checker didn’t call for someone to open and he said she was focused and probably didn’t notice the line b.s. She looked at the line several times and didn’t call anyone! It’s not the customers fault she was «focused » ! Really !

Regular Safeway. Nothing to write home about. I would say this place has better customer service than most. I’ve been to some that are simply unbelievable. However, I digress, I came in for groceries. That took all of 2 minutes, they are close to the door and cashiers. The kale was rather wilted. Produce doesn’t seem to be top of the line.

I love you guys, my go to always. I get out of school at 11 and I always stop by after to get some groceries or dinner. The cashiers are always very nice and happy, which is the main reason I always return. The store is very clean and very well maintained.

This Safeway is the best bar none!!!

The worst part: homeless begging for money. Some sit right outside the entrance of the store and cuss and yell. It’s scary to walk in/​out. No security guard.
Not the worst part: one of their cashiers dark hair chubby lady always asks to complete a survey. Good luck trying to be quick in and out when their only cashier is begging people to fill out surveys instead of ringing people up. Does she have to do this to every single customer? I heard you asking the guy in front of me, you don’t need to tell me the same thing!
Bad food: produce and bread aren’t fresh, deli items aren’t fresh got mushrooms once, paid $ 6, threw them away.
Bad: rude deli department people
Good: floral department and the pharmacy.
I prefer Winco but if I don’t have time I drive farther to Raleys… And I live down the street from this store!

This is a terrible place to shop. I loved the Vons I used to shop at in San Diego. I loved the Safeway in Roseville. I was shocked at how different my experience has been here in Citrus Heights. The neighboring Walmart has better quality. The main issue is EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I shop here I find rotten veggies in produce and expired meat, dairy, and deli goods. Every single time… and from multiple departments. I have never seen anything like it. Last time it was yogurt and hummus. The first few containers of each were way past the expiration date. I could go on and on with examples, but I’m sure you get it. The second issue I have is you won’t order organic applesauce. The manager told me, «our clients don’t buy things like organic applesauce.» News flash Safeway… I am your client. I want it.
I stop in maybe once every three months these days to see if anything has changed. It hasn’t. I was hopeful with the change in ownership, but no luck. Each time I give your store a go, I show management the expired products I have pulled off the shelves in my attempt to shop. They don’t care. Safeway: You don’t keep fresh food on your shelves and you refuse to buy any type of organic applesauce. As a result, you are losing my business to Walmart down the street. That’s about 10K a year.

This used to be my favorite store when I lived closer to it. On my way home from a friend’s, I stopped by to get some fruit and veggies as an «in between» shopping trip, remembering how awesome Safeway produce is. One of those items was cottage cheese to go with my berries. So, here it is, Sunday night and I’m preparing my meals for tomorrow. I go to open the cottage cheese and there’s pink spots on it! I look at bottom and see that it’s well the sell by date! Frustrated, because it’s out of my way to take it back and I don’t have time, I call and ask if they will put the $ 3.89 back on my card. Nope, they won’t, so here I am Unilocaling. I shop at Winco mostly, as it’s about all I can afford for big shopping trips these days. To illustrate this, I’ve NEVER gotten anything rotten or expired at Winco, and they are seen as lower end than Safeway. This Safeway seems to be at Walmart quality with Raley’s prices. To boot, I would’ve paid much less at Winco than I did yesterday. Please don’t shop at this location. I second someone’s recent post about the fruit, too. I found a bunch of rotten organic strawberries. Something not right is happening here, whether it’s bad management, no profits, whatever. And when I called, there was no willingness to work with me. Pretty much, the person I spoke to didn’t care and even more alarming, didn’t sound the least bit surprised like she gets this sort of call regularly. Even more appalling is to come on here and see recent reviews similar to mine. Please don’t get raped for your money for rotten food when there’s a Winco with higher standards right down Greenback in Orangevale!

Went here to grab something quick for dinner. Browsed the rotisserie chickens and a bunch of them were in some shallow square containers with the lids popping off because the chickens didn’t fit properly. Two were in the regular containers so I decided to get one. Looked for a side to go with it and saw a risotto. Checked the code date and it should’ve been pulled 2 weeks ago! Asked if they had any new ones in the back and while waiting I stood at the service deli counter and saw what a mess it was back there. There was a spill of some kind of liquid on the floor, debris all over the place, and the slicer was filthy! Needless to say I put everything back and just got Chinese food down the street.

Poor management and long wait lines. I rather drive an extra mile and go to the one on Dewey

Meat dept is awesome. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The lady complaining about bad meat is giving false info. They will cut anything you want fresh right there!!! Seafood is always fresh too. The shrimp and salmon is always excellent. Do all my shopping here and never had any issues

I came on here to review only the deli, the overall store always has extremely long lines. My main point Is the deli has amazing breakfast food! breakfast burritos and sandwiches that you can customize anyway you like they always are fresh and delicious. I’ll give the deli a 5 star rating but customer service and the rest of the store is sufficiently lacking. The store does always seem fairly clean but I have walked out on more than one occasion due to the lines being extremely long and only 1 to 2 casheirs open.

Absolutely disgusting! I spent $ 50 on a couple of fruits and vegetables and they all went bad within 3 days. It’s old produce being sold at ridiculous prices. I wont be shopping here again!

The produce and meat quality has definitely gone down hill here! Lots of grey meat and moldy fruit. The woman we had help us yesterday afternoon in the deli was very rude! They didn’t have any of the free items on my just for u, and don’t sell them there. This store use to be my favorite, not anymore.

I would give no stars if I could. Dropped a prescription off on a Friday to get filled, they said it won’t be in until Tuesday. I come on Wednesday and the pharmacist is at lunch so they won’t give it to us. Come back today a whole week later and they still don’t have it filled nor do they even have it in stock. This will be the last time I go to this Safeway pharmacy or any for that matter. There is no sense of urgency or that they did anything wrong. Absolutely ridiculous!

Quanisha must be having a bad day. Made me feel like I was bothering her. Almost apologized for her having to make me a burrito. Hope her day got better.

It’s not walmart so it gets 2 stars however. I used to go to the one on Dewey which I would easily give 5 stars. I come here and the cashiers are ways talking to each other not even pausing to acknowledge me. If this had happened once or twice I wouldn’t waste the time to review but it’s all the time! The strip mall itself is not the best so I guess I can’t expect much… I have resulted in driving further just to go to the better Safeway.

This is a very clean store. Well stocked and very organized! I was in and out quickly. Nice cashier. It was so perfect i had to take pix. Usually i dread going to a Safeway because they always reek of fish funk, but this one was so clean i didn’t even think they had a seafood section. I was in front of it and still no smell. So 5 stars to you safeway. keep up the good work. P. s. ive been to every store in sac, to avoid the fish funk!

I wish any of the stores in natomas had this selection. I had to stop while visiting a friend and ended up doing most of my grocery shopping for the week. The store was well lit, clean, and the employees friendly.
However, no health or natural foods section. I found a sign that said health food but no food that typically falls under that umbrella.
